Come and play Grand Theft Combine through the quiet Ambridge streets. And by the way, ROB IS STILL MARRIED.

Bolloxfest is imminent. Will this thread make it to the big day?

Yeah Lynda and Lillian (barring the appalling Paul debacle) have been nicely written for a long time. 'I came late to avocados' still makes me laugh ...

Alice needs something. Not sure what. She was too domesticated and now they're overcompensating by making her Science Girl. Maybe the new road will bring a major international aeronautics company to Ambridge, so she can put on her 80s-style Power Suit and become a hotshot businesswoman.

StandsOnGoldenSands · 24/08/2014 12:07

Oh, I meant to say, I thought the scene where Roy left home was nicely done. The cross-currents between Mike and Vicky contemplating leaving town, Roy being totally selfabsorbed in his step up to go play lord of the manor, and Hayley shuttling between everyone else with no idea about any of it ...

As someone mentioned upthread, it very much sounded as though Roy wouldn't be back.

ppeatfruit · 24/08/2014 13:11

I'm back just listened to the film I agree about the scene with the cross currents Stands

Blimey The Pet Shop Boys at Loxfest and it sounds like they're actually going to be there Shock I mean on TA of course. Also LizRoy look like they're going to get it on again Shock

RocknRollNerd · 24/08/2014 14:55

Jamie was being an insufferably smug prick about the whole camping thing...I don't get where his storyline is going at all other than it being a device to not have to have him as a regular adult cast member for years to come as he'll presumably be posted away for months at a time.

Am a bit bemused at the whole Pet Shop Boys thing, does that mean the whole Quantance Smith thing was just the plot to get them on...if so then it does seem very crass.

I agree the Sunday lunch was masterfully done in terms of whispered tensions and family dynamics. Poor Hayely is going to be absolutely devastated I fear.

ppeatfruit · 24/08/2014 15:18

Do you mean Daniel Rock ? I got confused with the boys' voices, we haven't heard from Jamie for a long time. Also note that Roy's reading the riot act has not stopped Freddie smoking.

RocknRollNerd · 24/08/2014 16:54

Oh yes, I did mean Daniel - oops!

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 24/08/2014 17:30

A TA nerd writes: 'I came late to avocados' was Phil's line, not Lynda's.

'People must have access to tea at all times!' was Obersturmbahnfuehrerin Peggy's defining line around the same time (to within a couple of years, anyway) during the planning for a jumble sale.

'I'm in two minds about forsythia' came from Shula (part of a conversation about church flowers in Lent - it's this kind of stuff that keeps me listening).

LillianGish · 24/08/2014 17:32

Don't forget Daniel is the son of St Smugula - he must have smugness running in his veins.

PetulaGordino · 24/08/2014 17:36

lillian, how's the new swanky parisian pied-a-terre?

LillianGish · 24/08/2014 17:45

Feels like I'm on holiday at the moment - just strolled to the Marais with dd. Still ridiculously happy to be able to listen to The Archers (and then discuss on here) - don't feel homesick at all as feel as if I have brought home with me.

PetulaGordino · 24/08/2014 18:59

lovely. i had next to no money when i lived in paris and used to spend lots of time just walking around window shopping and looking at the buildings

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 24/08/2014 19:09

Oh my! Freddie's highShock.

StandsOnGoldenSands · 24/08/2014 19:13

Oh dear I always seem to get these things wrong.

TheSilveryPussycat · 24/08/2014 19:17

Dear god, pity us poor old hippies.

Tis the youth who supply, and they are a little more sussed AIUI

BasketzatDawn · 24/08/2014 19:31

That's that then. Harrison will never get his leg over now.Smile

Such a fecking stereotype though - Wayne as the only aged hippie with a voice therefore the only possible dealer. aargh! I missed a bit - someone came during TA ANDTALKED. Did Dan dob in Wayne to Harrison?

Still, Freddie is only 14, no? he wiz only doing his job, was Harrison.

Panzee · 24/08/2014 19:38

Watch Lizzie be all breathy and grateful to Harrison now... Wink bad news for Fallon and Roy.

BasketzatDawn · 24/08/2014 19:38

A friend who was moving to mainland Europe got a moving (in both senses) present from her DH (pour elle encourager, as she was fairly un-keen on the idea) - a radio she could get TA on. Now that is some thoughtful gift, non? I haven't been in Paris for over 20 years. I'd love to see the place again. Glad you are settling in, LillianGish

ppeatfruit · 24/08/2014 20:27

OOOh Zero so it was WACKY backy was it Grin? Shock (I haven't heard tonight's yet)

WRF to radios; we have 2 computer radios one for the bathroom and one for the kitchen as well as of course the listen again facility on here. I'd go mad without the beeb I tell you Grin. It's so doable now come on everyone you can get a lovely house for a third of the price of a similar one in rip off blighty Grin

BiscuitMillionaire · 24/08/2014 21:38

My favourite line of recent episodes was Roy's 'I've got to go, the Tibetan monks will be here any minute' [or something similar]

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 24/08/2014 21:46

I'm glad phoebe did well - I have high hopes for her escaping her parents fates!

As for Wayne being the dealer - yawn, yet again a clunky storyline. Much better if fallon had been making hash cookies (or Jill!!)

And wtf is up with the new mobile site?

cheminotte · 24/08/2014 21:56

Am resorting to a laptop as can't tell if I've posted or not on the new mobile site - hence Blush above.

Was really looking forward to hearing the Pet Shop Boys tonight, but agree not exactly likely that they would just happen to be available. Surely it would have been great to have got a band that was just becoming popular and had them play (don't actually know any myself obviously!). I did wonder if Dan was realistic as a potential drug-buyer or being a squaddie future officer was going to come across too 'establishment'?

cheminotte · 24/08/2014 21:58

p.s. - drove past the Bull's Head today...

TheSilveryPussycat · 24/08/2014 22:17

YY I doubt Wayne (or a more believable counter-part) would have been there when Dan got back!

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 24/08/2014 22:25

You'll hear the Pet Shop Boys tomorrow, cheminotte. They definitely did a recording as there's a publicity shot (I linked to it above somewhere).

R4 · 24/08/2014 22:26

Do you mean the Old Bull cheminotte? The Bulls Head is a different pub (though you can't really drive past one without driving past the other).
Did you not stop for a pint of Shires?
