It's all about the Sons at the moment. Tom is having an identity crisis, Dan is off to Sandhurst, and poor old Adam is working his socks off.
Follow the undulating Ambridge pastures here!

Didn't Rob have a spell working in Canada before he arrived in Ambridge or is my memory playing tricks? Maybe he lined Tom up for the interview using his contacts.

WillieWaggledagger · 23/05/2014 21:52

oh yes, well remembered re canada!

TypicaLibra · 23/05/2014 22:58

Bloody hell, what a nerve. How much hassle did Tom and Helen give their parents getting them to take an obscenely massive mortgage to buy the place thus depriving themselves of a decent chillled-out retirement? How DARE he do this?! I'm speechless with horror at his selfishness. Hope Rich steps into the gap, not Rob.

WillieWaggledagger · 24/05/2014 05:49

I actually dreamed about this last night

BitOutOfPractice · 24/05/2014 07:25

I don't blame him for going. I don't think I could live with Moany's seething and ranting reproach

Lomaamina · 24/05/2014 09:15

Ahem. I can't stand Eddie Maire's smug sniggering and I have the highest esteem for Laurie Taylor's vast knowledge of sociology and his ability to bring out the best from his sometimes mostly inexperienced academic interviewees.

Feel free to drum me off the thread.

Loma

RocknRoll it would be unbelievable if Brian (who's 70??) didn't have a bit of sciatica wouldn't it? Unless he's on a health kick which doesn't seem to be the case. Considering their traditional diets the characters in TA are all in relatively good health IMO.

BasketzatDawn · 24/05/2014 13:38

Thanks for the added detail on the bonfire episode. It's more info than MrB could dredge up. Grin

I too am Hmm about Canada featuring yet again. And a friend who married a Canadian a few years ago and moved there had a long wait before she could get a work visa. Possibly different if the AmbridgeFairy has sorted you a job already, complete with refs, etc. It's good that Pat will have somewhere to go to if Tony keeps moaning and gets on her wick. That way too she'll find it's not ,on the other side of the world, if your starting point is Ambridge. Wink

Loma, I too like what Laurie T says, but I do find his voice and mannerisms a tad annoying. I lurv Eddie Mair though.Smile

WillieWaggledagger · 24/05/2014 16:38

loma as basketz said i'm afraid while i'm sure his knowledge and experience is vast, i can't bear his mannerisms and presenting style. whenever i haven't managed to switch off in time have caught the programme, the subjects themselves are interesting, but i just find him so off-putting. and from the letters he reads out he certainly seems to have enough fans not to need to worry about my opinion Grin

Lomaamina · 24/05/2014 16:45

Fair enough of course Grin i suppose for me his erudition is what shines through, so I cannot hear any mannerisms in his speech. But Eddie M.? What's the attraction? He's so full of himself. And I feel very uncomfortable when a serious news programme is taken over by forced jollity.

Selks · 24/05/2014 17:20

Where did Kirsty exit to?

ppeatfruit · 24/05/2014 17:42

basketz If I were Pat i'd be going to Canada with Tom anything to get away from overbearing, insensitive thicko Tony give him a fatal heart attack pleeease.

On 2nd thoughts that really WOULD be leaving Bridge farm to the mercies of knob Grin

ppeatfruit · 24/05/2014 17:49

If I have to hear apologists for gm, spraying and effing up the environment with global farming, like that vile bloke who has taken over BriJens' place, i'll switch off..btw was anyone else surprised by their total lack of reaction when it happened or did I miss the histrionics?

CarolineKnappShappey · 24/05/2014 18:01

But where is the road going to go?!!

Hopefully right next to JennyDarling's new kitchen.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 24/05/2014 18:15

Where did Kirsty exit to?

Anywhere but Ambridge was the general impression, Selks. I don't she said specifically where she would go. Hopefully not Ontario!

NearlySchoolTime · 24/05/2014 19:24

Am delurking as a recent addict of these threads to say thank you, lovely people, as you have solved the mystery of Tom's evasiveness about hearing that Kirsty had left, which had been bugging me. I was wondering what that signalled - but of course he heard it from Rob when negotiating away the business! I'm liking the idea that Rob persuaded him to go to Canada too.

Selks · 24/05/2014 19:30

Oh right. I had hoped she was off to do something epic with her life, such as back to Costa Rica to save the lesser warty toad bird or something.

R4 · 24/05/2014 21:57

High-fives Loma. You are not alone in disliking EM's "smug sniggering" and I also "feel very uncomfortable when a serious news programme is taken over by forced jollity". What was that all about the other day when they produced a spoof jingle for Clive Coleman.Confused

I feel like shouting at EM "it's not about you!".

Redcliff · 24/05/2014 22:20

I had forgotten about Pat + Moany taking out that mortgage - even if Tom pays off his debts surely he wont have enough to pay any mortgage money? I can't believe Rob would buy the ready meals - although my be proved wrong on Sunday.

R4 · 25/05/2014 09:48

Can anyone remind me about the details on the house Mr&Mrs Sausage were buying. Were they all signed up and committed, or is it just a case of walk away and lose the deposit?

Icimoi · 25/05/2014 12:05

It's also incredibly selfish for Tom to walk having forced Pat and Moany to give up the dairy herd and leaving them with a load of non-organic pigs to look after and, no doubt, lots of customers suing for breach of contract. Unless he's selling the pig business to Knob as well?

Icimoi · 25/05/2014 12:05

R4, I think they would just lose the deposit on the house.

Panzee · 25/05/2014 12:08

How was the deposit paid? Credit card or Bank of Peggy?

TallGiraffe · 25/05/2014 12:10

Did anyone hear the song on this week's GQT? I was sat on the M6 carpark which might have clouded my view but it was v funny!

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/05/2014 16:49

Oh yes Giraffe, wonderful stuff! Grin
