It's all about the Sons at the moment. Tom is having an identity crisis, Dan is off to Sandhurst, and poor old Adam is working his socks off.
Follow the undulating Ambridge pastures here!

It's not justified at all, but oh so entertaining.

unitarian · 13/05/2014 20:58

I did enjoy hearing Rob squirm.
He's going to be in a snit when he gets home. She's going to want sympathy.

WorldWildWifeFund · 13/05/2014 21:01

Yep, wait for the explosion.

WorldWildWifeFund · 13/05/2014 21:10

Could this be why Daniel needed to take the ironing board to Sandhurst?

OddFodd · 13/05/2014 21:30

Did anyone else think the Lizzie/Roy scene had massive sexual undertones??

PseudoBadger · 13/05/2014 21:33

Very much Odd, all that leaning across and stuff.

Lizzie and Roy will be spending a night together under canvas. {Folds arms and hoists bosom} I don't think that's a very good idea, personally.

GypsyFloss · 13/05/2014 22:31

Haven't listened tonight. With regards to last night ...Yes to thinking that Clarrie was going to fess up about lying about her age and that Charlie was flirting with Adam. He does sound rather nice though.

Catching up what everyone has written about this evening...
Rotaboy and Lizzie in a tent makes my skin crawl . Please not that scene. And a big fat yes for Rob making a claim for Bridge Farm by stepping in " to help the family" . I look forward to hearing it in all its glory tomorrow.

StandsOnGoldenSands · 13/05/2014 22:50

Agreed re Lizzie and Roy. Not a good plot line on either side.

I thought Kirsty handled it very well. Acting like a right bitch? Are you joking? She's absolutely entitled to behave as she did and she handled it with complete if frosty dignity.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 14/05/2014 01:36

ShockGypsy Is "n-i-c-e" the new way to spell "m-e-n-a-c-I-n-g"?

(I'm hoping Charlie's jaw will be introduced to Ian's fist quite soon. At speed.)

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 14/05/2014 01:44

And surely the (inevitable) Roy and Lizzie fling will be even briefer than the Midnight Wanderers next fifteen minutes of county-wide fame? It would be way too complicated if Phoebe had to start calling Elizabeth "DStepMamma"....

GypsyFloss · 14/05/2014 07:51

Grin Zero maybe he just fancies the Adam , god knows why, and wants to hang out with him. Certainly every time I turn the radio on Charlie boy is looking for him...

stilllearnin · 14/05/2014 08:17

Just cannot see lizzie and Roy copping off at all. I think that would annoy me quite a bit. I was thinking that loxfest would happen by magic but a tiny but of realism has been injected. Lost a conference due to it already. so I'm thinking tonight will actually be Tuesday night pick up. The problem with Rob moving in is it's quite complicated with Tom being son and heir. If it happens quickly that would a bit much. Although I do remember rob giving Tony advice. Tony would be begging for Tom to come back after a few months with rob! Krusty is being harsh but expecting her to come back to the shop! Flamin eck!

stilllearnin · 14/05/2014 08:18

Oh I meant rob giving t

stilllearnin · 14/05/2014 08:19

I may give up! I meant rob giving Tom advice about pigs and that!

Halsall · 14/05/2014 08:50

I had to laugh at Lizzie complaining to Roy that the Ambridge festival fairy he hadn't snaffled all the good stalls in time. Agree that they may be trying to add a very small element of reality to this SL, which admittedly is unusual.

RocknRollNerd · 14/05/2014 09:03

Given the track record for rustling up major events (eg a wedding) in a disproportionately short amount of time I suspect Loxfest is DOOMED!

I'm worried about Brian's sciatica - I know it may well just be sciatica but that was what my grandad thought and it was cancer spreading Sad.

I think we're back on course with Helen/Rob and the DV scenario - she's lost her best friend, is not on great terms with her folks and Rob is going to need to have control over something in his life given the mega-dairy isn't going quite to plan. Helen is beautifully isolated now with no-one to turn to (especially if Ian is having his own problems due to Adam fending off Charlie) and will be hugely vulnerable.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 14/05/2014 09:03

Yes... But as well as the reality check it was the way Elizabeth and Roy conversed that was interesting. She didn't speak as if to an employee who'd messed up (don't necessarily mean harshly) it was (forgive me world...) almost as if she were speaking to Nigel. Affectionate respect; even in the face of imminent disaster. And a calm belief that between them they probably could sort it out.

It was when Roy teased that she was "not that much older" than him, a while ago, that my ears pricked up. The SWs have totally sidelined poor Hayley lately, both personally and professionally.

R4 · 14/05/2014 09:38

I'm not buying into the Roy / Lizzie thing. He's 33, she's 47.
However, if it's a something and nothing that makes LL realise that she is still young(ish) and is now ready to 'get out there again' after Nigel then I will forgive the SW.

NotALondoner · 14/05/2014 09:47

What was the 'except for danny' quote about? I missed that.

NotALondoner · 14/05/2014 09:58

Where did Ifty go? He was lovely.

R4 · 14/05/2014 10:25

NAL They were talking about giving Jolene's old band at slot at LoxFest, if they reformed.
Jolene said that she thought that they would all be up for it "except for Danny ... ... he's dead". The deadpan delivery was brilliant.

WillieWaggledagger · 14/05/2014 10:28

While obviously the main target of Kirsty's anger should be (and presumably is) Tom, I think it might be too emotional for her to turn on the 'cold steel' act with him, but she can more easily do it to Helen. Plus easier to avoid Tom anyway. Though did she really need to go back there in person (beyond for our listening pleasure)? A curt text message asking for her stuff and her £43.50 to be ready for a friend to pick up would have sufficed.

LillianGish · 14/05/2014 10:58

Another one worried about. Brian's sciatica. I think Roy of the rotas and Lizzie is entirely possible - he was the one who stepped into the breach after Nigel's death and they do work very closely together. In many respects he is the one who has stepped into Nigel's shoes. I don't think either of them is planning it, but I think a night under the stars will almost certainly be an intimacy too far. Poor Hayley Sad

WipsGlitter · 14/05/2014 13:14

I agree, she will have a few elderflower wines, going to the festival will remind her how great it is to be young and there will be snogging at the very least.

The Rob / Henry thing was great, of course he will take it out on Helen now. And she'll be upset because of Kirsty.

Speaking, of what other gainful employment will the Ambridge Job Fairy she be able to get, does she have any qualifications?
