Will this thread make it to the wedding? Will it outlive Tony?

OP posts:

I don't think either of them will bail. Kirsty does seem genuinely fond and supportive of Tom, and if he chucks her he's mad. TA came very close to a cancelled wedding with Emma (who obviously should have bailed).

WillieWaggledagger · 05/04/2014 14:30

I wonder whether more things are going to go wrong. I can't remember who suggested it but I like the idea of then coming to the realisation that the wedding (in it's current form at least) isn't really them. A series of 'bad omen' type things going wrong might be the catalyst for either it not goin ahead, or for it to be changed to a more homemade villagey affair

ErrolTheDragon · 05/04/2014 14:47

Would be quite nice if the awesome venue had a catastrophe, so a combination of the WI and Lynda saved the day. Even the cheese queen could contribute usefully on the food side. I'd let Kirsty keep her lovely dress now she's got it though.

LillianGish · 05/04/2014 15:10

Didn't Alice join the RAF at some point - I have a vague memory (can someone with encyclopaedic recall remind me please).

PseudoBadger · 05/04/2014 15:46

Alice applied but was rejected. Same could happen to Dan of course...

Good point Pseudo I wonder if Fat Dan's juvenile arthritis will preclude him from the services?

Davros · 05/04/2014 19:48

Ooer missus, u can't read all if thus thread. Got to page 12 and had to give up. I listen to the Omnibus so can't look at this until I've heard it and the the tread is too long. I did see someone saying that no-one us called Fallon irl but isn't she (very naffly) named after the character in The Colbys or Falcon Crest or something? I am upset that characters in TA have started saying "sure" instead of "yes", I hate that. Thank his they can't do high fives on it!!!!

Selks · 05/04/2014 20:50

'Fat Dan'?? Hmm

FrumiousBandersnatch · 05/04/2014 20:57

Selks Dan was on steroids as a child for juvenile arthritis, which made him put on weight.

GypsyFloss · 05/04/2014 21:26

It's nickname used on the old BBC site , related as said upthread to his weight gain following his illness. The actor who played Dan was one of the scriptwriters sons and he used to get upset at him being called Fat Dan, which I think encouraged the usage ! He now know as Formerly Fat Dan or FFD Grin

I like Dan, he has a nice voice and he seems to manage his mother well. I hope they don't bottle of out this storyline , it has lots of scope.

I missed the invitation issue...what happened ?

GrendelsMum · 05/04/2014 21:38

There are loads of odd nicknames for the characters from the old days of Mustardland. Baspofald is a particular favourite.

GypsyFloss · 05/04/2014 22:11

Remind me GrendelsMum ...was that the bastard spawn one?

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 05/04/2014 22:43

I always liked Myson (also Ruairi!)

& Mousey was a major non-speaking character for a while Smile

Panzee · 05/04/2014 23:35

Oh how did this drop off my Threads I'm on? I have officially unsubscribed from the omnibus as I cannot wait a week any more. I am a daily listener once more!

Susan = Radio Carter.

Baspofald was Bastard Spawn Of Aldridge.

Just back from a few days away. Naturally one of the first things I caught up with was the last few episodes of TA and then this thread. I'm rather proud that I correctly predicted what Dan's bombshell would be, but get no glory as nobody else knew what I was thinking - family do not care, sadly. Damn.

I felt rather sorry for Brian re the takeover. I do hope we hear Matt's reaction on air.

PseudoBadger · 06/04/2014 08:13

And of course The Dopeys

OP posts:
AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 06/04/2014 08:15

Pseudo, yes, of course. I've stopped thinking of The Dopeys as a nickname because it's so apposite sometimes!

WillieWaggledagger · 06/04/2014 08:24

this is interesting - archive on 4 on motherhood. Clips with jennydarling!

WillieWaggledagger · 06/04/2014 08:27

Mimsy I was proud too that I guessed about Dan (among other guesses admittedly) a week ago - told DP who is away ATM and he was not as fulsome in his praise as I would have liked Hmm

GypsyFloss · 06/04/2014 08:58

Ah yes The Dopeys. Still works for me.

And Rev.Bunter for Alan, it's taken me till this morning to remember him.

PseudoBadger · 06/04/2014 09:09

But really it was Dopey David first and WR (Wor Ruth).
Brine and JD.
Lizard.
Sausage Baron.
ClarrieLuv
Alan is TVOA isn't he?
And for reasons never ever referred to any more, Mike is Cyclops.

OP posts:
GrendelsMum · 06/04/2014 09:30

Alan is definitely TVOA.

I couldn't remember what Ruth is - thanks for reminding me.

And Radio Carter is my other favourite,

Does Linda have a nn? Must do, but I can't remember.

GrendelsMum · 06/04/2014 09:32

Also, rather unfairly perhaps, mAdam and mAlice, but Kate seems to have got away without a nn. Debbie is Dobbin.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 06/04/2014 09:40

Oh, oh! I want to hear that takeover man is Matt's oldest, dearest friend.... Or new best friend. Either would do.
