Can I PLEASE just have 13 minutes? 13 measly minutes to myself to listen to The Archers?

Come and enjoy awkward dinner parties galore!

I reckon whatever killed the dead cow will cause the farm to be quarantined. Tom won't be able to sell any produce. He will assume that Peggy will help him out, but she won't. The wedding will take place amidst anger and recriminations. Looking forward to it! Wine

RhinestoneCowgirl · 24/03/2014 19:58

Also like Pseudo's new title.

Was worried Tony might have another heart attack tonight, he sounded so stressed Sad. I don't want any more Misery at Bridge Farm...

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 24/03/2014 20:15

Had my arms outstretched ready to catch him. Poor Tony. Heartless (...) of them to give him all this stress and drama. Not sure he'll make it to the wedding.

OddFodd · 24/03/2014 20:16

Good title Pseudo. Surely nothing else can go wrong at Bridge Farm? I can't bear it. Why does nothing ever fuck up at Home Farm?

PseudoBadger · 24/03/2014 20:21

Tony dying would put a dampner on the wedding

Northernlurker · 24/03/2014 20:37

It was really good tonight. I was quite touched when Tom was being all resilient at first - and then it turned out he really didn't give a damn except for how it affected him! And then when he got home and Kirsty was talking about all the money she's spending.....eeeek! If the Pigs Must Die then there will be no money for the Waterley Cross Palace. Did you notice how Kirsty was talking about interest rates - didn't sound like they could afford it if rates go up

GypsyFloss · 24/03/2014 20:45

New Tony is really putting his heart and soul into this isn't he.

I don't want him dead but if he did keel over and then Ruth kicked the bucket that would truly shake the Archers to the core.

Northernlurker · 24/03/2014 22:22

They wouldn't have recast him if planning to ded him. I think he might have another heart attack though.

Northernlurker · 24/03/2014 22:23

Good question to ask in a webchat though - how far out do you sketch storylines. DO you have an idea of what will happen to Dan/Pip/Josh etc in ten years time.......

PseudoBadger · 24/03/2014 22:32

Oh Northern if I can work "The Pigs Must Die" into the bovine title then I will!

OP posts:
Nennypops · 24/03/2014 23:13

What is Tom's stag do going to consist of?

Given his and Kirsty's determination to bankrupt themselves spend all Peggoi's money I suspect it'll be a weekend in some incredibly expensive hotel in Europe to which all the guests will travel first class and the world's most expensive champagne will flow throughout.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 24/03/2014 23:31

"Lonely cows, pigs who must die and stags with fun that doesn't start - the trials and tribulations of the farming year in Ambridge."

?

justiceofthePeas · 24/03/2014 23:34

I am thinking twins for Rooth. It is more likely with older mums. Or triplets....

unitarian · 25/03/2014 00:27

Tom was so sickeningly reasonable and supportive when Alistair was there but so nasty and self righteous afterwards.
And he's not insured! Why is he not insured if he's such a clever chappy?

outtolunchagain · 25/03/2014 06:52

No big fan of Tom's but in this case I think he is right to be livid .Tony only bought those cows in a fit of pique over his mother , when in fact from an IHT point of view she is being perfectly reasonable, if she left the money to Tony ( one heart attack down) and he died shortly after her there would be double tax charge and no one would get anything .

He has always been prone to sulking ( have I listened for most of 35 years) , he wasn't thinking of the farm, only of himself.Tom , for all he's a bore , has worked hard to build up his business and in one fell swoop Tony could have ruined the lot .Over the last few weeks several people have commented on that cow was unwell and he has ignored every time.

Tom is the future of the farm , like it or not , he is also the only one of the family who works full time .

GypsyFloss · 25/03/2014 06:54

They might have recast Tony so that they could send him off with a loud bang. The old Tony was very poorly apparently and certainly not up to the shouting matches that have been going on over the past few weeks.

I like your question Northern. I'd like to know how much influence each writer has on the script. Sometimes there can be a complete shift of direction when the writer changes which leaves some storylines just hanging there.

CuttedUpPear · 25/03/2014 06:59

Please can we have a Cold Comfort Farm reference in the next title? I luffs it and it was what gave me an excuse to start listening to TA.
And it might spur some posters on to read it if they haven't, what a treat!

Swannykazoo · 25/03/2014 09:20

Voting for pasbeaucoupdegendarme's title Wink
PS is this the busiest thread on MN?

Cretaceous · 25/03/2014 09:20

I liked Zero's suggestion of "Something nasty in the newbuild". Or how about: "The Archers: wedding raptures and new-build nirvanas... Can Little Miss Giggly's gran stump up the dosh? Or are them pigs something nasty in the woodshed?" Oops no, a little long trying to shoehorn in that CCF reference Grin I'd never make a SW... well, maybe under the old regime...

Not heard last night's episode yet... but please someone sweep Krusty off her feet. What on earth happened to the handsome PC? I think K will see the light, cry on Kenton's shoulder, he'll say just chuck the Pig King, and there'll be ructions on the wedding day (preferably).

GF - think you might be right about recasting Tony so they can send him off with a loud bang. They've built up his ill-health for a climatic finish.

LillianGish · 25/03/2014 09:34

Am I the only one who finds keeping up with this thread takes even longer than listening to the omnibus! Just found this gem in my retrawl: Such a shame that this pregancy test was purchased post-cataracts. Imagine the mix up potential! So apologising to gypsy for making points already made! Wondering now if Tom's problems with demise of cows/pigs and mounting debt are about to be compounded by his failure to notify relevant authorities of possible cross-contamination! Outtolunch I entirely agree with your analysis. I'd also like throw in another vote for "Something nasty in the newbuild"

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 25/03/2014 09:37

"Cold Comfort at Bridge Farm: Dead Cows, Greedy Cows, Poor Blind Besotted Cows... Follow the Herd......" (Cant do the next bit - Pseudo always comes up with a brilliant invitation to chat.)

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 25/03/2014 09:41

... Although the "new style" plea for time to listen brought lots of new fans. Obviously resonated with the MN demographic.

(I have no clue what I'm talking about.Hmm )

TheShimmeringPussycat · 25/03/2014 09:44

Grin at Poor Blind Besotted Cows.

ErrolTheDragon · 25/03/2014 10:04

Brilliant zero! Grin

Oh please let this suspected TB act as a sudden wake-up call for T&K not to overstretch themselves rather than a harbinger of real doom.

WillieWaggledagger · 25/03/2014 10:07

tom did seem to want to avoid talking about the big money commitment that is the mortgage yesterday. though that might not be because he's having second thoughts given the insecurity of the pig income - he may have just wanted to relax or to concentrate on how he was going to handle the pigs and animal health
