Can I PLEASE just have 13 minutes? 13 measly minutes to myself to listen to The Archers?

Come and enjoy awkward dinner parties galore!

I suspect her wanting to check the story out is that she wants everything perfect in Helen's world rather than she doubts Rob. She told a fib to him oblivious of what this means and the potential repercussions from it.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 24/03/2014 07:39

I thought that about Pip too! I hope it isn't cue for some 'hilarious' misunderstandings.

I also hope we don't have a very traumatic story about the baby as (a) I would find that very upsetting and (b) FF isn't the strongest actor in the cast and she doesn't have a great range. Difficult to see where this story is going otherwise, though. Imagine being 70 and going to Parents' Evening!

Northernlurker · 24/03/2014 07:58

Do you think we could get the editor on for a webchat? There are a LOT of Archers fans here after all Grin

WillieWaggledagger · 24/03/2014 07:59

i think lily's going to stir things up...

WillieWaggledagger · 24/03/2014 07:59

great idea NL! get olivia to pull some strings!

Northernlurker · 24/03/2014 08:01

I'll report my own post and ask

Redcliff · 24/03/2014 08:12

I guess the key thing is does Helen believe her own relationship hype? Has she ever had a (for want of a better word) normal relationship to compare it to or is this just her perfectionist streak coming out again?

Love the web chat idea - fingers crossed .

WillieWaggledagger · 24/03/2014 08:22

i don't think she has redcliff, which is why her 'this is what people do in a committed relationship' lecturing at kirsty is so infuriating

RocknRollNerd · 24/03/2014 08:30

Surely 'it's hip to be an intuitive pentangle' needs considering as our next thread title Grin.

Lily was definitely loitering with plot-intent last night I suspect, there was no earthly reason for her to be there otherwise. Still it's good to know that whatever happens with BabyAmber Jill will be able to bake her way out of the trauma...I'd forgotten that after stir-up Sunday we have her simnel baking exploits most years.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 24/03/2014 08:46

Oh that would be fun! I think we did mention the possibility of a webchat to MNHQ ages ago - but it would be much better to have the new Editor to grill share our enthusiasm with.Grin (Particularly since there are so many more Ambridgeites here now.)

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 24/03/2014 08:52

And I would be horrified if anyone I knew in RL felt the need to lie to a new partner about going to visit a friend.... The way he listed all the "bad" people, and accused her of not backing him up... Shock Longing to see how Helen's dreadful relationship will be resolved - or not.

mummytime · 24/03/2014 09:21

You people are evil! I'm supposed to be doing something else, but now just have to listen to yesterdays episode on catch up.

I'd love to ask a few questions and beg for Brenda's glamorous future with the Editor too.

OddFodd · 24/03/2014 09:28

My mum (who is 80) told me last night that her best childhood friend (also 80) was born when her mum was 49 so women have been having babies in their 40s for years. All my friends have had babies in their 40s and there's been one stillbirth but 20 healthy children.

And I don't think if Rooth has the baby that she'll be 70 at parents' evening unless my maths is very off Hmm

Nennypops · 24/03/2014 09:31

The line "I want this baby more than anything" was a bit of a giveaway, I fear.

I'm crossing every finger that this isn't a portent of disaster. When Kenton was going on about how happy he was just before the wedding, I was sure there was going to be some mega disaster involving Jolene's gory death on the way to the ceremony, or the revelation that she already had three husbands, and so far (touch wood) it hasn't happened. So I'm hoping that the SWs have decided to avoid that particular soap clich

OddFodd · 24/03/2014 09:34

I think it would be particularly shit if this pg ended in disaster after Vicky/Mike. But equally I'm with you nennypops in that if they talk about how happy they are about an upcoming event, I worry about disaster on the horizon.

stealthsquiggle · 24/03/2014 09:42

Oddfodd - Ruth wouldn't be in her 70's but David would be by the time babyblessing left school, wouldn't he?

OddFodd · 24/03/2014 09:50

He's just had his 50th birthday. So unless parents' evening carries on until children are in their 20s, no.

OddFodd · 24/03/2014 09:53

Oops sorry! It was their wedding anniversary wasn't it, not his birthday. It was Kenton who was 50.

Kin 'ell - I'm old and befuddled Blush :o

ComposHat · 24/03/2014 09:55

oddfodd did you granny's mate whose mum was 49 when she was born have an older teenage sister?

In my family there are a number of babies born to unmarried teenage daughters where they were passed off as the sister and the baby's grandmother as the mother. Despite mum/granny being in their late 40s.

OddFodd · 24/03/2014 10:36

Nope compos. She did have an older brother but I don't think he had anything to do with it! That happened to a girl I was at university with tho - she was in her early 20s when she found out her sister was actually her mum!

stealthsquiggle · 24/03/2014 10:46

David's younger than Shula and Kenton, isn't he? But then if Ruth is much younger than David then that would make her not that old to be having a baby at all Confused

WillieWaggledagger · 24/03/2014 10:50

according to the BBC archers profiles, david is 54 (born september 1959)

shula and kenton are a year older (born august 1958 so 55)

ruth is 9 years younger than david (june 1968) so is 45

elizabeth is a year older than ruth (april 1967)

stealthsquiggle · 24/03/2014 11:04

so David would (just) hit 70 before baby left school, then?

WillieWaggledagger · 24/03/2014 11:48

so it's tom's stag do on wednesday? what a weird night of the week to choose. though i suppose if most of his friends are farmers that's a 7-day a week job, and ian is a chef so weekends not so good

ComposHat · 24/03/2014 12:03

What is Tom's stag do going to consist of? A product tasting session of his latest ready meals? A tour of the Walls factory? The fun would never start.
