Just don't be so careless with your watch Helen

Thanks Gypsyfloss I'd also forgotten that Kirstie worked at all at Jaxx. I wasn't surprised Tom was so annoyed with Tony & the bullocks, I thought it demonstrated that Tony hadn't really taken on board the full implications of having a herd again.

I think Emma & Helen only became friends because of Kiera & Henry.

Just what you want if you are planning a wedding on limited funds. Cede control to a spoilt rich girl who has wanted for anything and has a burning desire to plsn the wedding she never had.

What could go wrong there?

TaurielTest · 07/03/2014 12:00

This is the thread that keeps on giving :)

I drove to do big supermarket shop at 7 yesterday, arriving by ten past. Sat parked in the car for last few minutes of programme, noticed another woman doing the same - she must have clocked me too, because she said "Alice as a wedding planner? She'll bankrupt them!" as we headed for the trolleys. Hello if you're on here Thanks

GypsyFloss · 07/03/2014 13:05

Excellent puddock. There's more of us than you'd first imagine .

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 07/03/2014 13:15

How lovely! Currently I know very few real people who listen. This thread is a godsend. My family would certainly be grateful if they grasped how much Archers-related wittering they are spared because you are all here to have it inflicted on you instead! Smile

Swannykazoo · 07/03/2014 15:36

I'm loving having found this thread when it was all he who must not be named living with St Smugula so could vent and as things have improved have been able to really relish Archers chat.
Anyway -who clocked the mention of Hellqueen meeting up with Ian? It proves the scriptwriters must be on here! Hoping the power of couple of Jazzer & Jim (Jizzer) will be getting it on soon and that there'll be a run on clearblues out of the village shop. Sold by Radio Carter naturally...

They do seem to be going in for heavy counterpointing at the moment - Tom ranting and raving at Tony set against Kate, Adam and Brian's good hearted chuntering about Jennydarling and the kitchen...

The wedding must be some kind of key plot device, it is all so clunkingly different from real life in terms of the ridiculous timescales, the spending and now the wedding planner - I wish the day would hurry up and come and be over and done with.

WillieWaggledagger · 07/03/2014 16:06

tom has a particularly screechy petulant tone sometimes doesn't he? (to contrast with the patronising one he has at all other times)

Dirtybanana · 07/03/2014 16:12

Does anyone remember the Numberjacks on CBBies - I think "Tom" voiced one of the numbers!

ErrolTheDragon · 07/03/2014 16:37

I'm a bit less pessimistic about Alice - I don't think she and Christopher are particularly into splashing money about (didn't Alice get into debt at one point so she may have learned her lesson?) and frankly I'd hope that an engineer might find planning a wedding relatively trivial.

Ian advising JD on kitchens though....ah, he's pretty sensible too

RocknRollNerd · 07/03/2014 17:01

Not sure Errol there was the whole Tarquin-the-loan-shark or whatever he was called who was planning on shagging Alice and shafting Chris with very reasonable repayment rates over on Amex a couple of years ago...that should have taught them that you're best off not overstretching yourselves though...

WillieWaggledagger · 07/03/2014 17:12

i have to say that few things would fill me with dread more than a cousin ringing me up and asking me to do the donkey work on his barely-planned wedding due to place in six weeks' time

but we're all different of course Wink

ppeatfruit · 07/03/2014 17:13

I'd 've thought that JD would know brine well enough by now to not inflict the whole planning thing on him; as Adam or Alice said 'just point his credit card at the bottom line and leave well alone'.

This is exactly my plan to get our new kitchen done. Wink

ErrolTheDragon · 07/03/2014 17:14

R&R - I never listened to Amex and we didn't have your brilliant recaps then, but they did have a bit on TA proper.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 07/03/2014 17:46

I'm very puzzled about the wedding. Presumably they've sent out 'save the date' cards, something I only know about because of Mumsnet. But do they have a confirmed venue? Did Kirsty definitely buy that dress she saw the other day with Helen? Who's doing the catering? What have they done about a cake and a photographer? They're going to have to get their skates on to do the proper invitations - is that what Alice is going to start with? Hand-addressing 200 envelopes and sticking on stamps. Hmmm.

WillieWaggledagger · 07/03/2014 17:50

i think kirsty posted the invitations the other day iirc? which means they must have at least organised something. and i think she or tom mentioned that some people had already started buying things off their present list??

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 07/03/2014 17:52

Thanks, Willie, I've obviously nodded off during the wedding chat recently!

OddFodd · 07/03/2014 17:55

Presumably they've already sent out the invites if people have been buying from the wedding list? Although quite when they managed to do either of those things (choosing a wedding list as well as writing the envelopes and sticking on the stamps), god knows. The whole thing is absurd

WillieWaggledagger · 07/03/2014 17:55

tbh i may be misremembering!

WillieWaggledagger · 07/03/2014 17:56

i seem to remember that they mentioned the presents being bought off wedding list before the posting of the invitations which would be confusing, but i may have hallucinated that

OddFodd · 07/03/2014 18:09

I don't remember them talking about posting the invites but the 'people have already bought off the list' convo was definitely last week

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 07/03/2014 18:42

oooh - there is a spoiler re tonight on the BBC Archers FB page. Lots of people here will be very pleased.

WillieWaggledagger · 07/03/2014 18:55

i saw that theone - they seem to have got a bit muddled about who specifically is at a low ebb! we'll find out in 7 mins anyway

Bluestocking · 07/03/2014 19:03

Great start - Deeevid doing his face-stuffing and talking at the same time bit.
