Just don't be so careless with your watch Helen

There is of course a sinister reason that Ruth could be looking tired :( maybe the new boss has decided to off her and condemn David to eternity with his mother?

Yes, that occurred to me, but as Zero says surely they won't knock off another Archer spouse in that generation?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 04/03/2014 09:19

That's what I meant Pseudo - I hold my breath every time she sneezes. David was so distraught when she was diagnosed. They clearly had the intention to show a really positive cancer recovery story, but.....

It could well lead to Jill returning permanently to Brookfield. (Even though she would be so much more exciting at LL.)

WillieWaggledagger · 04/03/2014 09:30

or ruth might be pg? or she's going to be exhausted and there will be an accident on the way to jill's op?

OldBeanbagz · 04/03/2014 10:03

I suspect that Ruth will have a breast cancer relapse and Jill will move into Brookfield permanently. David is such a mummy's boy that he'll ooh and aah over every meal forever more.

Didn't they have Ruth being tired and it turning out to be pregnancy before?

Have missed the last 2 episodes due to visitors so off to catch up now...

ComposHat · 04/03/2014 11:32

Would they bump Rooooth off though? She and Daveeed are inheriting the Phil & Jill mantle as the core pillar of the community farming couple (which they inherited from Dan & Doris) it would knacker the continuity.

ErrolTheDragon · 04/03/2014 12:04

I don't think there has to be anything sinister to Ruth being tired - sounds like reality of being a farmer at a hard time of year with a family to look after - I'd be knackered if I had to get up for milking and then do that - but it provides a way for Jill to remain happily at Brookfield. Thus freeing up a house for someone else which is a Good Thing in these times of housing shortage/building all over beautiful land or floodplains.

WillieWaggledagger · 04/03/2014 12:13

i don't think they would really, surely?

she could become permanently disabled though or compromised health-wise, perhaps. i realise that that sounds rather flippant but you don't hear much about those living daily with longterm disabilities. mike's partial sightedness is very rarely mentioned, nor is jazzer's brain injury. though there was jack's alzheimers leading to physical disability and i guess bethany's special needs will be highlighted more over time. any mental health problems seem resolved very quickly (anorexia, depression).

WillieWaggledagger · 04/03/2014 12:13

very true errol

BasketzatDawn · 04/03/2014 14:11

I wonder if they are just keeping us on our toes wondering about Ruth's health - in a way quite a clever device, after all people following BC, or any other serious health problem, usually never quite relax again about relapse risk. Even when they are well and the stats are good, as they are for Ruth (she is well past the 5 yr mark now). There was that incident a few years ago when she had a cough and David and others were worrying, and it was just an infection. Time will tell no doubt .... I thin k she's just' tired tired' - working hard and being a mum to teenagers type of tiredness. I hope so anyway. I like Ruth well enough to want her to continue, unlike many.

MissMilliment · 04/03/2014 14:15

Just catching up on yesterday's episode. Shall we run a sweepstake on when Hellin announces the engagement?

My bet is during the speeches at Tom'n'Kirsty's wedding. Without consulting with Rob so there'll be faces of thunder all round the top table Grin

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 04/03/2014 14:27

What's wrong with my ears? Am I the only person who heard it as Helen planning to share a wedding planner with Kirstie? Although - I'm not sure how it would work since she and Rob obviously can't get married until he's properly divorced.

David definitely acted a very meaningful pause before "......tired." And Ruth emphatically brushed it off. Something's definitely up.......

BasketzatDawn · 04/03/2014 14:34

Yes, I wondered about H's idea too. That woman is living in Cloud Cuckoo Land though, and she will know that divorces can be v quick. Of course the listeners know more about EvilRob's conniving ways ......

BasketzatDawn · 04/03/2014 14:35

You realise too that if Ruth really is ill, then Peep will have to come back? Grin Right, off to eat lunch.

JollyGolightly · 04/03/2014 14:54

I think it's more likely that Jill goes blind through procrastination of the op. She still has to stay at Brookfield, but no longer able to cook and clean. This is inconvenient for R and D but they have to pretend she is still welcome.

Though I would comfort Widower David, whom I secretly fancy. My soup is also orgasmic.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 04/03/2014 15:05

Eurrrrgh!

There was a BBC Archers interview a few months ago that hinted at something like that Jolly. At least that's how I interpreted it.

But I think Jill would be genuinely welcome if her health deteriorated in any way. They wouldn't have to pretend.

harrietspy · 04/03/2014 15:10

I was so relieved when Ruth's tiredness turned out to be Ben (or was it Josh?) years ago and not a relapse. Even though she gets annoying, I'd hate for her to get ill again.

FunLovinBunster · 04/03/2014 15:23

Dear Rooth and Dayveed
The only way that J-iiilll is leaving Brookfield is in a coffin.
Wake up and boot her out now.
Her voice and boring as shit relentless cheerfulness makes my teeth itch.
Euthanasia??

ComposHat · 04/03/2014 17:32

I don't mind Jill, Peggoi is the Ambridge elder most deserving of a one way flight to a Swiss clinic.

GypsyFloss · 04/03/2014 17:57

I'd love to know just how happy Rooth and Dayveeed would be to have Jill there full time if she was blind and not able to happily skivy for them. I suspect there would be lots of " you'd be much more comfortable in your own home" conversations going on then!

TCforTopCat · 04/03/2014 19:06

Fallon for PC Burns Grin

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 04/03/2014 19:06

Oh Fallon....

ErrolTheDragon · 04/03/2014 19:08

Arghh... missed the start so now I'll have to wait till it's available on iplayer and avoid this thread till then

GypsyFloss · 04/03/2014 19:09

Now if we'd not recently heard from Jess we could have speculated that the skanky water is her dead body decomposing into the water course Grin

nauticant · 04/03/2014 19:17

They're keen on "theme" episodes at the moment, aren't they. I'm not sure what the theme of tonight's was other than "rubbish".
