Just don't be so careless with your watch Helen

zeroyouve put your finger on what bothered me about Ruth's comment.

And nanny we dreamed up that exact scenario: the PC will rescue Hellin from DV.

Martorana · 27/02/2014 22:00

And I bet they all go home and tell their other halves that Kirsty's a bit extreme, a bit shrill but once she's married she won't have time for all that feminist nonsense..........

CarolineKnappShappey · 27/02/2014 22:03

It's a baby step in the right direction though, surely?

ErrolTheDragon · 27/02/2014 22:14

I wasn't too happy with the women all drooling over PC Burns - if it had been a fit female speaking at an all male event that sort of banter would have been decidedly Hmm.

Still, as he's now firmly established as the local hunk, perhaps he will inadvertently wreck a marriage before rescuing Helen ... I'm sort of hoping that she and Rob go on for years.

ComposHat · 27/02/2014 22:15

zero what did Emmur do for a living before George came along? I really can't remember.

BitOutOfPractice · 27/02/2014 22:17

Hellin will need someone's arms to fall into when it goes tits up with Rob. Obv

BoreOfWhabylon · 27/02/2014 23:09

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!

Don't click if you don't want to know what the actor who plays him he looks like

PC Burns

Not how I imagined him, I must say

nennypops · 28/02/2014 00:02

Hmm, not bad, not bad at all.

SomethingOnce · 28/02/2014 01:13

PC Burns/WI thing [cringe]

Do adult women really carry on like that in real life?

mummytime · 28/02/2014 05:23

SomethingOnce - unfortunately YES.
I had a lot of very embarrassing playgroup committee meetings where one member of staff (a qualified teacher) used to drawl over one parent who happened to be a Fireman.

I think Emmur is now being written as if she has a huge insecurity complex, maybe she is feeling less attractive now she is older and a Mummy, and isn't coping. I hope they continue this and help her a bit. I'm sure there are lots of women like her.

I'm surprised Ruth didn't have an opinion, though.

CarolineKnappShappey · 28/02/2014 07:30

He is rather nice, I like that hair/ eye colour in a man.

But he's not what I thought at all.

bigbadbarry · 28/02/2014 09:41

Ooh now I see what all the fuss is about :) I had him as generic policeman tall, dark, blue eyes.
(And sadly yes women do carry on like that - there is one "good looking dad" at the school and it is embarrassing)
(I don't)

ppeatfruit · 28/02/2014 10:33

Well I'm on the fence like Ruth;if there's no coercion then it's up to the woman IMO it's a free country innit. I wouldn't do it and I admit I would be uncomfortable about our DDs doing pole dancing but there you go.

ppeatfruit · 28/02/2014 10:34

Brava for the first all woman episode of TA!!!

Martorana · 28/02/2014 10:46

Yep. WI- because there was a good looking bloke talking, then an awkward "feminist" discussion tagged on at the end, and a nice patronizing comment about the woman who dared to be older than the others having an opinion........

Yuck.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 28/02/2014 10:47

ComposHat TBH I can't remember. I know she used to clean for Ian and Adam but not sure if that was before or after George.

Martorana · 28/02/2014 10:51

Right. I am going to ask again.

What has Harman done that she should apologise for?

Martorana · 28/02/2014 10:52

Oops- wrong thread, sorry!

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 28/02/2014 11:05

Honestly though, how likely is it that a tiny break-in in a tiny village in the sticks would get such an instant & on-going response from the local constabulary?

If they had to shoehorn a new hunk into the programme, surely he could have been some kind of agricultural bod?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 28/02/2014 11:20

Oh no, I disagree. They badly need non-farming representatives of the outside world in Ambridge. It has become staggeringly unrealistic.

That's why Ruth had nothing to say during the WI discussion - she never speaks to anyone on any topic that is not farm or village related.....

ppeatfruit · 28/02/2014 11:26

I don't remember Emmuh going to catering college but it was mentioned a while ago. (If the way she coped with a low budget was evidence of it then all they taught was how to open prepared food Grin).

Which would be funny but I remember the DCs taking tins of food to school to 'assemble' a pizza in the early 90s. FFS.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/02/2014 11:26

Yes, zero - a curious dearth of state employees for one thing. Amy and Ifty well on the sidelines ... was there anyone else before PC Smoulders Burns?

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 28/02/2014 11:30

A postman would have worked

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 28/02/2014 11:30

He could give a talk on how the Govt shafted the great British public

or how best to stick stamps on your letters

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 28/02/2014 11:31

Or a Hermes delivery driver. They must buy loads off stuff on the internet off-air
