But I draw the line at and >>boaked

bigbadbarry · 23/02/2014 22:02

I don't think she barged into their bedroom. I think she barged into some cottage they were in? But I am washing up at the time so maybe mis-heard. Agree it doesn't bear thinking about either way!

bigbadbarry · 23/02/2014 22:04

um, I was washing up. I'm not now.

Songbird · 23/02/2014 22:19

That reminds me, who's in Rickyard at the moment? Wouldn't it make sense for Jill to live there?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 23/02/2014 22:34

Can't recall if David and Ruth increased the rent or not but, when Ed n Emma couldn't afford it any more, I think it was rented out to strangers. (Although Josh had a birthday gathering there...)

daisychain01 · 23/02/2014 22:36

songbird I believe the thinking behind Jill moving in with David and Roof is because she has lost a lot of confidence since the burglery so Roof thought it would be nice if she had a couple of months with them, just to get her back on her feet emotionally.

I think thats where David had the jitters about his DM living under the same roof again, because it bought back memories of the previous invasion of privacy IYSWIM Grin

daisychain01 · 23/02/2014 22:39

HumphreyCobbler yy to Brenda using MN!

Also I wonder if Nick might use it esp. Now she's back in New born baby mode again!

ComposHat · 23/02/2014 23:23

I reckon Nic is probably Nethuns fodder. Emmur almost certainly.

TemperamentalAroundCorvids · 24/02/2014 00:06

To return briefly to the bed linen scene, I thought Hellin was running exactly the same strategy for getting Rob to join in as she uses with Henry. and I wondered for a moment whether it would have worked on my Ex Will Rob share the housework according to one of the approved MN models? Hellin may be happy to do all the cooking, but maybe not the rest of it.

ComposHat · 24/02/2014 00:27

I can't imagine he wanted to see Oklahoma

Perhaps Rob really is he really is a 'fan of musical theatre' Wink and the womanising is just massive over compensation.

Benzalkonium · 24/02/2014 00:35

So.... Who thinks tony's beef enterprse is Going to be successful?

Hope so, just to show tom!

ComposHat · 24/02/2014 00:55

Yes. I do hope so.

I am beginning to feel quite sorry for Tony andrelish sny opportunity vto see Tom bought down a peg or two.

BasketzatDawn · 24/02/2014 00:57

I could quite see the CheeseQueen on AIBU moaning about her DM refusing to care for darling ds. After all she gave all of 3 mins' notice, and she has a new bf who her DPs don't like, so of course she can't BU for thinking her DM is being rather spiteful. And being absolutely roasted, one hopes.

I think the bubble hasn't burst on Helen's desire to play houses yet. So she's happy to cook, and to do all the housework, etc. Wherever she is in 20 years, hopefully not with EvilRob, surely the novelty have worn off and she'll realise how fecking boring housework actually is. no?

ComposHat · 24/02/2014 01:03

Yes I could see Hellin's post going

Hellin AIBU?

MN yes, yes and thrice yes.

Hellin: no I'm not. You're all spiteful bullies.

BasketzatDawn · 24/02/2014 01:09

Yes, I want Tony's beef entreprise to succeed too.

I've been thinking (too much) about the TOM-Tony 'war'. Despite disliking Tom intensely, I can see why he is annoyed. Like all of us, to a lesser or greater degree, we all rewrite our life scripts to suit our own preferences. Over the years Tom has told himself he and his parents run the farm as a collaboration. We have seen him as a bully who nags till his parents back down, e.g. over the cows (getting rid of prev ones, I mean). His parents felt cowed (ha ha!) into getting rid of the herd. He thinks he's oh so keen and the 'ideas man' of the business and the decision was a joint one. Of course he can't see himself as a bumptious, self-centred, little bully. So of course he feels wronged. it doesn't mean he's right though. his dad has just had enough and this is how it's come out. Yay for Tony. And of course Pat and Tony - esp since John died and
Helen was ill - have treaded on eggshells to keep the peace. I think it's great that Pat is on Tony's side. It was lovely when they went together to 'visit' the cows.

ComposHat · 24/02/2014 01:32

I think that's a really accurate assessment. Problem is that as 'the ideas man'most of his ideas are shite. When the farm looked like it was going tits up due to the plague yoghurt, didn't he spend an inordinate amount of time teaching his pigs to play football on YouTube? It was actually Tony who had the idea of putting everything under the Ambridge organics brand. (If I remember Hellin in typically self absorbed fashion wanted to re brand the dairy products as Henry's)

Are Tom and Hellin actually partners in the farm or are they in reality just a farm labourer (with a sideline in sausages) and a glorified shop assistant?

Is

cheminotte · 24/02/2014 06:32

It was lovely how Pat supported Tony while still gently probing why he hadn't discussed with her first.
Temp yes I can see now how the bed linen scene was a bit like how she might be with Henry - let's make this into a game...

cheminotte · 24/02/2014 06:36

And Rob is being Mr Generous getting not only them but also Henry a new bed. Will Helen be on here soon saying - but he's such a good dad?

nauticant · 24/02/2014 09:01

This thread has brought us:

Tom's piddly sausage endeavours

Darryl ... re-aligning Jennifer's drawers

This thread is marvellous.

BitOutOfPractice · 24/02/2014 09:09

You see I'm seeing this all differently. I think Tony is behaving like a spoilt little boy to show his mummy that he's not past it. In the menatime, he's gone behind everyone's back, spending the money that belongs to the business to make a point that he's still got what it takes. It's a bit pathetic imho.

And we wonder where Tom gets his single minded compulsion to plough ahead with his own ideas regardless of anyone elses' plans or feelings? Clearly modelled on his father.

Remember who picked up the pieces of the business when Tony was ill? And when the food poisoning thing happened. It would have gone under without Tom (who, you must admit, works hard) but it seems to be forgotten now that Tony wants to play a cattle farmer again.

CuttedUpPear · 24/02/2014 09:46

Composhat Perhaps Rob really is a 'fan of musical theatre' wink and the womanising is just massive over compensation.

Grin

Now I understand EVERYTHING

ErrolTheDragon · 24/02/2014 10:04

Well, yes it is a bit pathetic but a lot better than buying a new ancient tractor or whatever his equivalent of getting a Harley might be.

BTW - it's a long time since I married, but back then the groom's parents weren't expected to make a significant contribution to the wedding expenses, the bulk always fell to the brides parents. I suppose nowadays couples are more likely to be self-financing - but surely Tom shouldn't have had expectations of a large amount from T&P in the first place?

Rob's deciding to get Henry a new bed is doubtless with the idea curtailing his nocturnal visits with a I've We've bought you a nice new bed so bloody well please stay in it you spoilt brat like a big boy. Any bets on this being what will set off his trailed display of temper?

ppeatfruit · 24/02/2014 10:28

YYYY to BitoutofPractice I thought that they were all partners; we don't hear many meetings about how the farm is going to be run though do we ? There should be proper monthly meetings comprising ALL the partners.

BitOutOfPractice · 24/02/2014 10:38

Yes Ppeatfruit - Tony has just gone ahead and done exactly what he accuses Tom of (making decisions and following them through without consulting anyone else) only worse, because he's done it out of spite not blind ignorance. He knew exactly what he was doing - with the added sting in the tail of getting revenge on Tom for asking Peggy for money. It really is horrible what he's done.

ComposHat · 24/02/2014 10:38

Are the Sausage and Cheese Queen actual partners or is it just an understanding that they will inherit the farm one day? Tony said 'me and your mum work hard to pay the mortgage' implying that Tom abd Hellin aren't partners.
