TA is in a purple patch at the moment, rewarding listeners for wading through the dross of the previous year few months. Welcome all!

Yeh, surely Kirsty would be more down with the hipstery tea-lights in jam jars and home-made bunting type of wedding, mis-matched crockery type of wedding?

HumphreyCobbler · 14/02/2014 12:29

just listened to last night - wow that bit about the outfit change was really well done. Truly chilling.

I feel so sorry for Tony, Peggy is horrible to him. I know he is annoying but he doesn't deserve that. I wanted him to hold Peggy's parenting of him up to scrutiny and find it wanting so that she would know how it felt.

WillieWaggledagger · 14/02/2014 12:33

i suppose that given the atmosphere at BF at the moment i can see why she might want to be a bit further away from that. but they've never been a jolly lot anyway (understandably in many ways) so not much can have changed there

i agree about the rustic homemade wedding, would be perfect

WillieWaggledagger · 14/02/2014 12:35

is peggy imposing similarities between tony and his father, which is clouding her judgement of him?

the trouble is peggy, people will live down to your expectations if you're not careful

GypsyFloss · 14/02/2014 13:44

I think the big wedding plans will come to nothing and it will end up being small and simple at the farm.

ComposHat · 14/02/2014 13:45

and they will end up living in Tom's eco-house on the silent plague farm. He will probably design it in the shape of a sausage too.

BitOutOfPractice · 14/02/2014 13:45

Hasn't Kirsty been trying to tone Tom's wedding plans down?

KIrsty7318 · 14/02/2014 13:59

The wedding is annoying me too.

Ten weeks to go, no venue, nothing booked, Kirsty presumably about to pay £2000 plus on a off- the peg wedding dress that by some miracle fits with no adjustments needed, a massive guest list of people willing and able to travel at short notice to mid-week wedding with all the attendant logistics and costs (time off work, hotel costs if not local etc).

Plus Rota boy as best man, because that is not likely to suck all the joy out of any occasion. Roy dere, it isn't your wedding ring that women find repellant.

mummytime · 14/02/2014 14:02

My Dd was studying weddings in Sociology yesterday, apparently the average cost is £18,000 nowadays.

ComposHat · 14/02/2014 14:04

I imagine if racist Roy is organising the stag do, it might be rather like the one that got Tory MP Aidan Burley into so much trouble.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/02/2014 14:09

Love Jennifers 'disaster' in the middle of the other stuff, as a plot device to throw Tony and Peggy into the same car it was a good one.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/02/2014 14:12

Roy's an ex-racist now, isn't he? Hayley wouldn't put up with that sort of tripe.

Just listening to the repeat - another nice subtle touch, peggy telling tony he was still indicating ... the sort of thing you say to someone whose competence you don't rate highly.

SomewhereBeyondTheSea · 14/02/2014 14:13

The SWs have rather a downer on Kirsty - all those constant references to her liking cake, 'another slice of cake Kirsty?' etc seem to be some kinf of scriptwriter in-joke but are getting wearing. And then the other day she was going on about 'no strapless dresses because I have builders' shoulders' (or somesuch) ... clearly they are conjuring up an image of her as being rather dumpy and solid ...

SomewhereBeyondTheSea · 14/02/2014 14:16

PS. Yes to Kirsty building her dream ecohome, yes to her being far more likely to want a chilled casual wedding ... is this all coming from Tom, do we think? This Hall place as a venue (has it EVER been heard of before?) sounds absolutely ridiculous - but then, he wants to play lord of the manor ... UGH.

Shallishanti · 14/02/2014 14:18

hey have just heard the rpt 'Helen's evening takes a turn for the worse this evening...'
yay!

ErrolTheDragon · 14/02/2014 14:25

It was 'footballers shoulders', which I took to mean she's actually quite muscular, as opposed to willowy - but thinking about it, footballers don't use their arms much so unless she was meaning American-style I'm not quite sure what that term would mean.

StickyProblem · 14/02/2014 14:27

LOL Shallishanti I heard that and came on here to gloat!

I loved Tom "Well I meant Henry, but you have fun too!"

What an actress Hellin is - that wonderful voice, and she gets so much into it. That's why I love her, even though she's awful.

Can't wait for tonight - I've sent DP to the pub specifically, seeing as shutting up for 15 minutes is beyond him.

OddFodd · 14/02/2014 14:27

How did I miss Tony saying he was going to withdraw wedding funding last night? Honestly, he's behaving like a petulant toddler.

Entirely agree that Kirsty would want an ecohouse and a low key wedding. I wonder if the SWs are peddling that sexist shite whereby normally sensible women become all giddy and bridezilla like at the mere notion of their own wedding?

Errol Didn't someone say the other day, was it Pat? "Oh Kirsty you have no need to worry about that!" when Kirsty said she couldn't have another cake because she wanted to fit into her wedding dress? I think of her as one of those Debra Messing types that eats like a horse and is as thin as a rake. Happy to be corrected though :)

SenoritaViva · 14/02/2014 14:29

I can't wait for the Hellin story to kick off and yet I want it to be a slow burner, reeling her in slowly by her own cheese wire. It has just been done brilliant recently, I hope it doesn't fall flat (aka Paul and Lillian and the ridiculous AmExtra Russian mafia subplot).

ErrolTheDragon · 14/02/2014 14:41

If Tony is found keeled over, it won't be fatal - they surely wouldn't have got David Troughton on board for a short time.

WillieWaggledagger · 14/02/2014 14:51

errol that indicator thing was inspired i agree - exactly the sort of indescribably irritating thing that someone critical will say

i think it's more tom the groomzilla - kirsty was quite happy with the marquee but he insisted on visiting windsor castle or wherever it was

GypsyFloss · 14/02/2014 15:21

I thought the same about David Troughton at first but if they do finish Tony off it needs to be with a bang and from what I gather Old Tony was a bit too poorly to give it welly. All this shouting can not be good for a man recovering from a heart attack.
