CuttedUpPear · 28/01/2014 21:01

Lilian's pony was called Pensioner

TheSparklyPussycat · 28/01/2014 21:38

Yeeees! Of course!

How time passes! Now the Pensioner is the one on top Wink

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 28/01/2014 21:39

Sparkly I have just spent two and a half hours on the Chronology site! It was a revelation.

I found I vaguely remembered stuff from the late 60's but didn't consciously start taking an interest till the early 70's.

There was so much I didn't know - the number of fires and farming / non farming accidents was just exhausting and it was amazing to realize just how many people in the village owe all or part of their livelihoods to inheritance.

And such a vast amount of work has gone into it all. I promise never to complain again.Grin

Thank you for the link.

WillieWaggledagger · 28/01/2014 21:50

it's lovely to see the storylines my mum must have been listening to when i was small

BitOutOfPractice · 28/01/2014 23:29

Sorry if this has been covered but why did Jill ring David? Surely Kenton at the Bull was closer!!

TheSparklyPussycat · 29/01/2014 00:19

Come on, which of those would you pick to ring in an emergency? And David probably has a shotgun he could bring

Gigondas · 29/01/2014 07:31

Kenton probably - he was very good about fixing her house and my guess would be more use if someone was there. He was in merchant navy - closest Dave came to confrontation is if someone split his pint in the bull.

Panzee · 29/01/2014 07:50

I'd rather Ben than David. He's really wish washy!

ErrolTheDragon · 29/01/2014 07:53

unless its with a badger - but he wouldn't have brought his shotgun. He's probably physically fitter than Kenton at this point though.

BitOutOfPractice · 29/01/2014 07:54

Jill lives on the green, the bull is on the green, and Kenton may have still been up doing whatever landlords do after closing time. Odd.

ppeatfruit · 29/01/2014 07:56

But cutted In those days it was called 'TA An Everyday Story of Farming Folk' Or something like that; it was what it said on the tin. If you want non-stop sensationalism you're listening to the wrong programme Grin try the play that follows it.

ppeatfruit · 29/01/2014 07:57

Or Game of Thrones on the TV Grin

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 29/01/2014 08:09

Jill called Brookfield because David and Ruth were already in that episode....

< Neutral tone of voice because I have sworn never to complain about TA and BBC penny-pinching again. >

Richelieu · 29/01/2014 08:50

Yes, calling Kenton would have blown the budget Grin

In terms of family dynamics, though, Jill consistently denigrates Kenton - I've often been Shock at the very sharp way she puts him down to other people. She's far more emotionally attached to David and Rooth.

She'll be moving in with them, surely?

PS that Archers chronology site is incredible!

WhatSheSaid · 29/01/2014 08:57

I still think Jill will move in with Elizabeth. More room at Lower Loxley, surely?

TheSparklyPussycat · 29/01/2014 09:14

I retract my post of 00:19 as it was mainly for effect and cos I'd not got a proper map of Ambridge in my head.

WillieWaggledagger · 29/01/2014 09:40

roaring at this in the archers chronology:

1955/00/00
Doris spent much of the summer laying a crazy-paving path round her garden.

Sorry this is off subject but I live quite near to the town of Richelieu Grin do you know what the eponymous man actually did? Shock

CuttedUpPear · 29/01/2014 11:29

ppeatfruit I know all about the farming agenda. It's nice to see that they have managed to carry on as they started with the occasional foray into non-stop sensationalism

JessieMcJessie · 29/01/2014 16:57

Sparkly that chronology you linked to is (and I rarely use this word) awesome!

Shallishanti · 29/01/2014 22:29

Richelieu- wasn't he the eminence grise?

Richelieu · 29/01/2014 23:14

I believe Richelieu was the eminence rouge, because of his red cardinal's robes. The eminence grise was another bloke who was his crony.

ppeatfruit, according to the mighty Wikipedia, Richelieu founded the town...it was where he'd grown up (before he achieved power as First Minister to Louis XIII). He built a whole new town on top of the original small village.

I only chose this name because it was one of the few words I could dredge up that happened not to be taken Grin
