It didn't sound quite right! Loads of that generation are older than Tom. I think there are better family trees around. Wiki?

OddFodd · 16/12/2013 10:34

Ta-dah!

It's a bit out of date (horrid Henry's not on it, nor Rich) but not bad

OddFodd · 16/12/2013 10:40

According to that, James was born in 1973 so Leonie could well be 39 I guess. It feels like they forgot to make those characters grow up!

ZeroSomeFestiveGameThingy · 16/12/2013 10:42

Fantabulous! I was right the first time about who's cousin to whom.Xmas Grin

Oh, next year's going to be fun. For once - if Leonie is about to produce an Archer - I salute the SWs.

ppeatfruit · 16/12/2013 17:02

The S,W.'s are avin a larf arn't they? Panto land at the Archers; what with homeless in the woods (Darryl story) pregnant and single (leonie story) son against stepdad due to dead puppy, possibly to get a new one (wee george's story). Also the 2 possible grannies at one anothers throats (Lynda and Lilian). PLUS the leads in the panto getting engaged AAAAAh innit sweet!!!!

BitOutOfPractice · 16/12/2013 17:57

Are my eyes deceiving me or have I started on the sauvignon blanc too early or is that family tree saying that Eddie and Clarrie are cousins?!

LondonMother · 16/12/2013 18:04

It's the Sauvignon, Bit, but understandable as the layout is a bit basic. There's no relationship between Ned and Mabel Larkin and the Grundy clan, but at first glance it does look that way if you are three sheets to the wind.

OddFodd · 16/12/2013 18:09

Someone needs to redraw that tree with the new additions/marriages. I think there'll have to be colour coding for the Horrobins/Grundys/Perkins/Tucker interconnections or it just gets too confusing

BitOutOfPractice · 16/12/2013 18:25

Thank you LM. I felt rather discombobulated by that idea! I've only had one you cheeky girl

BitOutOfPractice · 16/12/2013 19:04

"There's something about avocadoes in December that I find slightly disturbing!"

Classic Jenny Darling! Xmas Grin

LondonMother · 16/12/2013 19:34

Yes, loved that line! Reminded me of my all-time favourite Archers line from Phil - 'I came late to avocadoes...'

My other top favourite was from Peggy. She was bossing everybody round before a jumble sale and she said in her best autocratic tones 'There must be access to tea at all times!'

Anyway, back to the present day. Rob is insufferable. That's point 1.

Point 2: I don't know what has gone on between Rob and Jess in the past but I admire the way the SWs have just dropped us into the middle of this relationship without spelling it out in tedious detail. It reminds me of when Tim and Siobhan arrived in the village and there was a wonderful tantalising line from Tim, something along the lines of 'We can make a fresh start here and draw a line under what happened in Islington'. We never did find out in any detail what had happened between them before, but that was enough to let us know that this was not an idyllic marriage. I like being treated as a grown up listener in this way.

ZeroSomeFestiveGameThingy · 16/12/2013 19:44

Ahhhh....

Jenny gushing to Jess about what a great catch Rob is.

Jess anxious to emulate Jenny and Brian's long blissful marriage.

Sweet.

Xmas Grin
LondonMother · 16/12/2013 19:51

Is it possible that Rob has not told Jess about Ruairidh's relationship to Brian and Jennifer? I am hoping not, and that Jess puts her foot in it soon by talking about 'your grandson'.

CuttedUpPear · 16/12/2013 20:07

Yes

Jess: "I hope that one day my marriage will be exactly like yours and Brine's, Jennifer"
Jennydahling: "Well that certainly would be something"

Panzee · 16/12/2013 20:28

Will and Nic are going to get a puppy too, aren't they?

ZeroSomeFestiveGameThingy · 16/12/2013 21:04

Why would Brian have discussed his son's parentage with his new employee?

ZeroSomeFestiveGameThingy · 16/12/2013 21:30

And even Susan might have kept this (oh god my laptop writes disgracefukXmas Grin ) ahem - disgraceful info to herself, now that she's a member of the family...

TallGiraffe · 16/12/2013 21:40

But wouldn't it be obvious? He calls Brian Dad (I think) and Jenny is a bit long in the tooth for siring offspring!

LondonMother · 16/12/2013 21:51

Not only obvious, but in any normal village it would be so scandalous that it would be one of the first things any newcomer to the village would hear. In Ambridge, however, gossip is not as in other villages, so who knows...

ZeroSomeFestiveGameThingy · 16/12/2013 22:00

You could be right. But given today's "happy marriages" conversation I would hope the revelation might merit its own episode.....

Gigondas · 16/12/2013 23:02

Today's episode was a belter especially bit about wanting Jennifer's marriage.

curlew · 16/12/2013 23:22

Isn't Adam head of the younger generation?

MrsCampbellBlack · 17/12/2013 07:32

I can't believe Ed is going to get a puppy - he is just so stupid. Will will get another one as he needs to train up a working dog and it just looks like one upmanship.

And I just can't see Susan embracing a puppy? And if ednemmur ever want to rent again - it would be very difficult with a dog in tow. Also how could they afford all the vaccinations/vet's bills etc?

And I did laugh at Jess' hero worship of jennifer and her kitchen and her marriage. I suspect Jess will end up with a marriage just like Jennifers, complete with illegitimate offspring
