I thought the girls were babies, that Elona was a second marriage and not a v. Long one. I must listen more attentively.
Nah, Kirsty is doomed to become the sausage queen, she will inherit the business when Tom has a nasty accident in the sausage department and is rendered sterile/ a limp shadow of his former self.

Like the sausage queen! And limp Tom...

Was just cos of the ott soap bickering and the roles in Robin Hood, art mimicking life mimicking art.

Emmur was convinced George was Ed's and made Ed believe it. I remember Clarrie basically telling Will that was how it was and he just had to leave the happy family to it. How Will has every remained close to his mother is beyond me.

For me, it was when Emmur and Ed were plotting to run away with George that was them at their most horrid.

Was anyone listening back when Mike shot Caroline's dog as just read this summary on the bbc and it doesn't quite tally with the version she told Will.

Because in her version she never blamed Mike and was oh so gracious.

Mrs cb that is somewhat different to Caroline's tale in the week.

Did anyone else just think get off the flipping cross Shula last night??

I just know that Darrell is going to be fine. If he meant it he'd have stolen insulin from Al's vet bag.

Just listening to the omnibus ...what's the betting that Tom proposes to Kirsty whilst dressed as Robin Hood?

Report
OddFodd · 08/12/2013 11:26

Caroline put quite a different spin on that didn't she?

Shula has zero understanding of mental illness does she? Silly woman. I hope Darryl is sectioned and then we can move back onto the much more juicy love triangle.

The actress who plays Jess is awful

Why is the onus on Will to sort things out??? If one of my sisters shot my dog, even by accident, I'd be pretty upset for quite a while - and we get on well usually! And Nic isn't 'taking sides' - she's sticking up for her DH FFS!!! Maybe I haven't been listening for long enough (Ruth's affair was the first big storyline I listened to properly, though my mum has always had the Archers on in the background throughout my childhood). Why does the whole Grundy family automatically blame Will for everything ?!

Bluestocking · 08/12/2013 12:49

The actress who plays Jess? Don't get me started! She's just reading the LINES! With very odd EMPHASES in all sorts of random places!
I am pining for the fantastic Grundy Werrld of Chrizmerrz storylines from a few years ago. Warring brothers in the turkey plucking shed just isn't really warming my cockles. I do like the new Clarrie though - her poor crackly voice really gives the impression of a woman who is emotionally exhausted by her ghastly menfolk and their total inability to consider anyone's needs except their own.

Report
OddFodd · 08/12/2013 13:31

Yes, yes - those odd emphases are really, really irritating :o

Surely she's going to disappear off again so that HellnRob can get back together? Although perhaps PatnTony have had quite enough to deal with for one year.

I don't think the Grundys blame Will for everything at all - Ed has behaved quite badly but Will is a sanctimonious shit who has dangled his good fortune over Ed his whole life.

OMG - I just googled Will Grundy inheritance because I couldn't remember who'd left him the money and saw that Norman Painting (who played Phil) left the actor who plays Eddie £16k in his will!

I haven't heard Will being sanctimonious Confused - what's the backstory to that, what's the inheritance storyline?

You are kidding, aren't you?Shock
Her god-awful Pam Ayres-on-acid screeching last Sunday was the nail in the coffin for me. I haven't listened since then.
I've gone cold turkey.

I'm with you on the new Clarrie. Her voice makes me switch off.

He inherited some money somehow - pure good fortune and Ed didn't. He gets a tied cottage with his job and used the money to become a BTL landlord so basically he is doing very well for himself financially.

He used to constantly rub Ed's nose in the fact that he had no money, that he was providing properly for his wife and that Ed couldn't look after George properly (EdnEmma have always had money problems and lived in a caravan for a bit). He's a really nasty piece of work.

I can't believe Shula has enough paracetamol in her medicine cabinet to make any sort of serious suicide attempt. I agree with pseudo it seems like a half-assed job when the surgery will be full of insulin, shotguns and the stuff to put ill furries down with.
As far as the announcement at the end: "if you've been affected by the storyline phone..." I was tempted to phone to say "Yes, my enjoyment of the Archers has been seriously reduced during this nonsense please make it stop"

Fascinating to hear the RL Phil/Eddie inheritance story...

Somewhere I think it was an Aunt or Great-Aunt of either Clarrie or Eddie who left Will £200,000 -

(OMG There's a RL Tom and Kirstie on the radio right now!)

  • sorry, yes, she had only ever met Will when he was small and never got round to changing her will. Eddie and Clarrie could not persuade Will to share the money with his brother. It really was very unfair.

ZeroSomeFestiveGameThingy · 08/12/2013 15:06

Oh - and Will's buy to let is the house that Tom and (latterly Brenda) Kirstie rent. Sad to say it was a house that Roy and Hayley had got very excited about when they wanted to buy - but of course Will had more ready cash.

I had the same thought Gypsy. The happy news juxtaposed against Joe's final demise?

Syllabubble · 08/12/2013 15:19

Gypsy, my plot ideas for the next month are Tom proposing to Kirsty on last night of the panto, whipping ring out of his tights, and Jack dying on NY day, which is his and Piggoi's wedding anniversary........

Report
GypsyFloss · 08/12/2013 16:28

Are you pleased to see me or is that a sausage solitaire in your tights?

Syllabubble I think your plot plan is very sound and the following year Tom n Kirsty can get married on NY day to keep Peggy sweet and splashing her cash.
