Oh the Peggy and Jack bit was very sweet. I don't normally like Peggy much but that actually did make me tearful.

God Helen and Rob. God. Honestly, if the saintly social worker Jess drove him mad, what will Helen do to him?

It put me off me lunch all that slurping. Stop it.

LondonMother · 02/01/2014 17:41

Oh come now, folks, won't anybody think of the SWs? Going back to endless screeds of 'Oh, Helen!' 'Oh, Rob!' [slurp, slurp, slurp] saves them a great deal of time and effort writing proper scripts. If we don't like it it must be our fault, as 33 years of listening to Feedback has taught me. The BBC is never, ever wrong.

'Helen's helping me with my cartridges'

Pass the sick bucket.

Never mind her stalking behaviour in stalking him to the lunch and inviting herself. Why does she always become utterly weird as soon as she gets in to a relationship? She was terribly obsessive with Greg.

I mention this every time illnesses come up...

BMJ analysis

ErrolTheDragon · 02/01/2014 19:04

Need a subscription to read it... but one of the comments seems to have a brief analysis so I'll read that when current episode is over.

MissFenella · 02/01/2014 19:09

quite moving tonight - then Helen arrived

PseudoBadger · 02/01/2014 19:11

I'm sitting in waitrose car park waiting for Helen to spill the beans... Oh bugger Peggy's turned up!

OP posts:
JaneEyresHeir · 02/01/2014 19:12

Yes, very sad.

Peggy and Lillian have kind of stolen Hellin's thunder though!

JaneEyresHeir · 02/01/2014 19:14

Oops - all a bit awkward...
Doesn't bode well really.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/01/2014 19:17

'We're not the most important people at the moment' Shock

BitOutOfPractice · 02/01/2014 19:24

Awww! Poor Jack Sad

MissFenella · 02/01/2014 19:47

Errol - I too could not believe those words from Helen - she is not well...

Pat didn't exactly try to conceal her dislike of Rob, either, did she? Doesn't bode well either.

The more I think about it the more this storyline irritates me - Helen is being so completely blind about how it will affect Henry, which is extremely selfish. Grr.

JaneEyresHeir · 02/01/2014 22:20

Absolutely gwenniebee - Pat's voice was full of disdain when talking to Rob. The announcement, when Helen makes it, is not going to go down well - and no wonder!

Gigondas · 02/01/2014 23:23

It won't Janeeyre.

And will neither if them think it won't just be pat who thinks its odd. Jess was hosting a meet the village party two weeks ago.

Redcliff · 03/01/2014 00:00

I can't believe Helen is thinking of moving in with Rob - I had missed yesterday's and when I was listening on the way home today I was slack jawed in amazement - I even made DS and DP pretend to be interested so I could exclaim in shock "what's is she thinking" to someone. Pat and Tony are going to go mad - they hated it when Rob was giving Tom ready meal advice so what are they going to say when they find out what he's giving Helen ?

I am guessing R & H are going to get caught at some point in the next couple of weeks and all hell will break loose - cant wait!

ReallyOverThis · 03/01/2014 00:24

pilcrow re Alice I think that the issue was that JD was well over 40 when she became preggers with Alice and there was a worry about Down's, possibly she refused to have an amnio or something so we were kept in suspense till the birth. But, unlike for Vicky, all was right in the end.

WhatSheSaid · 03/01/2014 04:01

We'll be getting a new Tony very soon according to this

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2533019/Archers-veteran-takes-final-bow-Actor-Colin-Skipp-hang-muddy-wellies-Ambridge.html

GypsyFloss · 03/01/2014 07:52

Oh no. I hope that they kill him off gently rather rather than have re-voiced by a new actor. His voice is very much part of his eeyore-ish personality and I think it would be hard for a new person to do it justice.

Perhaps Tony can die and then Helen can move Rob into their home, using stability for Henry as her excuse.

GypsyFloss · 03/01/2014 07:59

The scene where Tony found John dead is one of my all time best Archers moments. I had only been listening intermittently for about 2 years by then and the BBC were trailing a " big event".
I assumed that it would be a plane landing on the village type event a la tv soaps.

But it was so much less showy and so much more sad and poignant than that. It was, for me , incredibly well done and made more pertinent as my Grandad's oldest brother died in the exact same way, as a young farmer leaving a very young family.

re: the miraculous curing of various conditions, didn't Mike lose the sight in one eye? i cant remember him getting it back.
