How old is Cathy - I wonder if she still needs to work for financial reasons because if not, surely she could tell Martin what to do.

Honestly, the Ray thing is uber annoying too - he's trying to turn it into butlins or something - but with swingers.

Hmm, good point Ponders, maybe just the SWs not thinking things through again? Or perhaps he's volunteering in some way at a holiday ranch, riding for the disabled, residential school or term time activity centre type place.

Maybe Ruth is so bothered because she knows Pip is a whiney pain. So she is secretly worried that she'll be taken down a peg or thirty in Yorkshire? Or maybe just won't be able to hack it.

Actually I just remembered, Daniel has been in America for ages as they had to phone him with his A level results. And Shula said he was off travelling soon, so that would be right- finish up summer as a camp counsellor and go off travelling with mates from the camp.

Ray and Martin together - I would hope they would have a fight that would put them both in hospital and unable to speak. Then we could have some genuinely interesting storylines. Possibly that's a bit too much to hope for at the moment.

Tonight's was frankly bizarre. I could not understand the business with Kirsty and Helen and the jewellery. Where were they and where did it come from? And why, why do the SWs think any of this is entertaining, believable or worth 12 minutes of our time?

I thought they were making the jewellery in Ambridge Organics. I was hoping that Helen would have entered the jewellery she'd bought and there could've been a public showdown with the real artist.

Oooh Ive thought of a theory regarding Jess - Maybe she's in the nick!! Think about it - all those scars on Rob, maybe she attacked him! As for the visits, well it makes sense, he can only visit her once a week/month whatever, and SHE can't visit him because she's banged up.

What prize do I get if I'm right?

It would be a reasonable theory - but Darrell was introduced coming out of prison. So we would have to assume the writers are repeating themselves through memory loss.

I did wonder about the scars...

On the one hand I don't think his complaints about her reluctance to have children would be necessary for a "prison" plot. On the other hand there was a huge amount of unnecessary stuff in the Paul story that led precisely nowhere.

Didn't Rob say he left a job he loved (in Canada) so she could look after her aged parent? She could have been in prison there - but surely she wouldn't have had time to get banged up since they arrived in England? It's entirely possible that aged parent may be looking after her....

I still think she may never actually appear - Rob will forever use her as an excuse to keep Helen in her OW place.

I didn't realise till I read it upthread that Martin is married. No doubt that's why he spends so much time faffing around the clubhouse, his wife can't stand him being at home and chucks him out.

The Ray storyline seems to be tediously similar - it's two incompetent men separately making unreasonable demands of long-suffering women both of whom whinge a bit but invariably do as the incompetents ask, both men due to get their come-uppance at some point. I just wish they'd get on with it.

Didn't Alan's first wife (Amy's mother) kill someone and end up in prison? Is this a storyline that I've imagined or did it come up on Amex? It would be a bit too close to have Rob have the same problem, although the SWs do seem to rehash the stories in a different family every six months.

I can't wait for Pat and Tony to find out about Rob and Hellin; of course Tom's local difficulty with ready meals will be all Rob's fault as well.
