New thread!

OP posts:
JessieMcJessie · 22/08/2013 06:50

R4, that's a bit unfair on Jamie- ever since Cathy let him leave school and start his tree- surgery training he's been much more mature. He's developing very much in the mould of Chris Carter and will soon be a respected local tradesman.

JessieMcJessie · 22/08/2013 06:53

Loved Brine insulting Shula by taking a dig at Kenton! Yes, what IS behind this gardener shenanigans. I thought it was really odd and out of character for Adam to be mean and deny his pickers some extra work on the side. And what about Darrell and Eddie? They are both always on the lookout for extra work.

Somethingyesterday · 22/08/2013 07:05

I guess Adam was reluctant because the SWs are building a newbie. I couldn't think of anyone in Ambridge who would be a suitable gardener - Emma has more work now, Darrel and Eddie are builders rather than horticulturalists, Josh is busy, I doubt that any Horrobin is dreaming of RHS membership.....

So who will they be? And who will they be for??

WhatSheSaid · 22/08/2013 07:18

Anyone but Darrell for the gardener. He is soooo dull. They should have packed him and Elona off together. Why have they kept him? Can the scriptwriters really imagine any thrilling storylines involving him? He was highly irritating during the dog fighting shenanigans.

ppeatfruit · 22/08/2013 08:47

Aah but IIRC Adam got a little (ahem) too close to one of the pickers last year and perhaps wants to keep his distance now Grin. There could be allegations of favouritism from the other (non picked) pickers Grin.

WhatSheSaid · 22/08/2013 08:53

Yes, Adam and Pavel (I think he was called?). Though how he could cheat on the lovely Ian...the bounder. There was a great scene where Adam arrived home to find Ian had invited Pavel the Polish picker round for dinner, unaware that he was Adam's OM...

Somethingyesterday · 22/08/2013 19:21

Stop it! Please, please stop!

Helen, how can you? He's the most banal man on the planet

Rob, how can you? She's unbelievably selfish and disloyal.

And for god's sake, I don't want to know what you do in the bath. Shock

MrsCampbellBlack · 22/08/2013 19:29

Rob sounds utterly clueless, god love - she doesn't want a stir fry, she wants a good . . . [wonders if one can say 'fuck' on an archers thread]

GrimmaTheNome · 23/08/2013 10:42

Helen, how can you? He's the most banal man on the planet

maybe he's hung like a prize bull and that's what she wants instead of AI? Grin

Somethingyesterday · 23/08/2013 10:49

Yeah but...

His vital statistics don't really communicate over radio. I've realised lately that they simply did not build him a personality. Since the, very artificial, dinner party "argument" on mega farming he has had nothing interesting to say.

And what is worse - he seems to cower before Brian. I am not impressed.

GrimmaTheNome · 23/08/2013 11:41

I wonder how long it will take either for Pat to get an alternative babysitter so she can come to the jewellery-making sessions, or realise that Hellin hasn't brought home a single hand-crafted wonder.

JessieMcJessie · 23/08/2013 11:47

Rob DID stand up to Brian- he called him on claiming credit before the BL board for some idea that made the most out of rising milk prices, then said he wanted a bonus. i may be flamed for thinking this, but I'd actually like things to work out for him and Helen in the long run. I think it's rather sweet he's all distracted from work. Jess had her chance, she hasn't shown any interest in Ambridge, he needs to get shot of her and settle down to years of dinner-table bickering with Pat and Tony and shaping Henry into a Fine Young Man.

LondonMother · 23/08/2013 11:57

I won't flame you - but I'd think an awful lot more of both of them if they'd done the decent thing and waited till Rob had sorted things out properly with Jess before starting their affair. They are telling lies left, right and centre. When Pat and Tony find out what's been going on and that they've been taken for mugs, looking after Henry at a minute's notice so Helen can go off on a shagfest with a married man I think they'll be angry and hurt. I would be.

ppeatfruit · 23/08/2013 12:59

I was thinking that as wellsomething he's a sort of vacuum, like a lot of newly introduced soap characters, I was noticing how nervous and distracted as you say jessie he was about meeting with Hellin; IMO he's going to turn into a nasty piece of work. Grimma You may be right about his physical attributes!!!! Grin

Somethingyesterday · 23/08/2013 13:07

If I were Jess I wouldn't be making any long term plans.... Look what happened to Siobhan. And Paul.

Only the vicar got away with it, and she had God on her side.

Somethingyesterday · 23/08/2013 13:10

My logic is rubbish! But it would make more sense to kill her off rather than Rob....

ppeatfruit · 23/08/2013 13:20

The SWs suffer from 'i'm not going to sit down and tell you the truthitis!' In every plot FGS Hmm

MrsCampbellBlack · 23/08/2013 18:12

Pat & Tony are going to explode!

I still don't get really how Tony suddenly hated Rob so much. He was fine with him at dinner and then just lost it over the bloody ready meals in the pub and was sooooo rude.

Ponders · 23/08/2013 19:08

TWO FEWER!!!!

Kathy got under Martin's sk

Ponders · 23/08/2013 19:09

Bloody phone

Ponders · 23/08/2013 19:10

Under Martin's skin with that one

I would like to slap Martin with a wet fish

Gigondas · 23/08/2013 19:10

I know - its hard to find someone who makes you sympathise with Kathy.

nennypops · 23/08/2013 22:59

Must admit, I was shouting "two fewer" at the radio seconds before Kathy said it.

Ponders · 23/08/2013 23:04

I never had Kathy down as a pedant Grin

thismousebites · 23/08/2013 23:13

Oh good an Archers thread.
There's a lot more to Rob's marriage than he's letting on me thinks. His excuses just don't ring true. I am starting to think he has done away with her.
