Dead or another ambridge coma special?

So...what do we think?...

Already heard the news, despite not listening in at 7.00 - Twitter was full of it! How long before it's up on iPlayer?

But back to your question - the timing fits in well with Brenda moving out - she can move in with Vicky and they can raise the baby between them.

Rangirl · 19/04/2013 21:20

Is it not Neil ?

R4 · 19/04/2013 22:37

Yup. The gun was shot in the direction of Neil and/or Darrell. Nothing to do with Moike.

And there was I thinking that Neil has come on in leaps and bounds in recent months - he is in danger of nicking David's place as village Good Guy. He is acting like a wise Elder, was reliable in a crisis and is generally 'solid'. I hope the SW don't have a nasty outcome penciled in for him.Sad On the bright side, I suppose that it's more bad news for that odious twerp Tom.

gwenniebee · 19/04/2013 22:41

It was a gun shot? Shock I thought he was hit by the car. I hope they don't finish him off. It's become all too much Eastenders for me since that new editor took over - I was brought up in Archers country and I was quite happy when nothing really happened, it reminded me of home!

seeker · 19/04/2013 22:46

Gunshot. But it will be another Archers medical event, like Jazzer's miraculously healed brain damage, Brian's vanishing epilepsy, the three complete recoveries from comas, Abi's problem free happily brqstfeeding prematurity, Beth's milestone hitting Down's syndrome and Wolfgang's vanishing TB.

LondonMother · 20/04/2013 08:53

Not happy about this. Neil is one of the very few really nice people in Ambridge. I suppose that makes him expendable, like Nigel. I wouldn't have cared much if they'd got rid of Darrell, but I suppose they know that. I'd be over the moon if they got rid of Paul as that storyline is soooooooo boring unless there's some amazing twist coming.

Anyone else wonder if Matt was maybe at the dogfight?

R4 · 20/04/2013 11:06

My thoughts exactly.Sad I also wondered if Matt was in attendance.

When VW did an interview the other day about leaving TA, she mentioned that the SW considered doing a murder storyline but it was veto'd by The Powers Above. I'm pinning my hopes on this. In fact, I'm hoping that it was a totally wild shot that didn't actually hit anyone. It was, after all, in a field, at a distance, in the dark.Hmm

EverybodysSootyEyed · 20/04/2013 11:11

I can't bear to listen anymore and just read the synopsis so that I can be amazed at how overly dramatic it has become

My guess wih baby Beth is that she disappears from the radio from about 1yr and then reappears at 14 with no sign of downs and becomes a stroppy teenager a la pip

Although the way it is going I'm not sure it's still going to be on in 14 years

There are so many stories that they start and then nothing comes of it.

I'm expecting Paul's surprise to be his ex wife tied up in the flat ready for his crazed revenge

GreenShadow · 20/04/2013 11:11

Sorry - total brain fade in my post yesterday.... I am a regular listener, honestly - just get Neil and Mike muddled sometimes.

TheConstantLurker · 20/04/2013 11:20

Omg just listened on iplayer. Exactly the same thoughts: not another death/coma/serious hospital situation. Darrell is such a prat!
Anyway can't wait for the next episode so I guess that was the aim.

ppeatfruit · 21/04/2013 11:29

Nooooo they better not kill off Neil Shock You know the good guy involved in village matters etc.... it could happen I'm effing annoyed.... this is ridiculous coming so soon after Chris

Spuderoonerism · 21/04/2013 12:04

Was going to put this on the other thread but that seems a bit more spoiler free so am sticking it here instead:

Definitely agree that The Archers is not supposed to be Corrie or Eastenders or anything like that and I will not be happy if they continue down that route. That said it's a great dramatic twist have the son almost killed, then just when it's all done and dusted off the father in a 'didn't see that coming' type way...the trouble is I don't want that from The Archers; it's not why I listen

Darrell just irritates me beyond belief. I quite liked it when they introduced Elona and made it clear that it wasn't a DailyMailSpecial 'all them Eastern Europeans coming over here being scrounging criminals' but Darrell and the daughters are just loathsome.

I fear it doesn't look good for Neil, it would tie in nicely with Nic being pregnant as well - all the attention can be on Emma instead as she'll have lost her dad...

ppeatfruit · 21/04/2013 12:20

I fear you're right spuder Sad agree about dopey Darryl and sort of nice Elona too. It's not what I listen for either.

OliviaMumsnet · 21/04/2013 14:36

SHOCKING stuff

HearMyRoar · 21/04/2013 16:30

Poor Neil, I hope darryl feels so guilty he tops himself or something. He's such a prat.

I agree, I liked the archers when the most exciting thing that happened all week was a cow getting a sore leg. Can't be doing with all the action.

OP posts:
OliviaMumsnet · 21/04/2013 17:02

but surely the villain Des won't get away?
Do we think Neil is dead?!?!

seeker · 21/04/2013 20:11

So now we can add "being shot in the shoulder" to the catalogue of illnesses, injuries and conditions that people in Ambridge seem to be able to shake off in hours with no after effects!

seeker · 21/04/2013 20:12

Oh shit- sorry if that was a spoiler...............Sad

TheConstantLurker · 21/04/2013 22:27

Also we've had somebody else telling the law about illegal activity and dramatic denouements ensuing before. It is getting too eastenders.
Where the hell are Linda and the llamas?

seeker · 21/04/2013 23:13

And did Wolfgang die of TB?

ppeatfruit · 22/04/2013 07:10

Go on spoil it tell me or do we have another cliff hanger? I noticed that lately Susan has been AWOL.

So its not just me that has been wondering if all of Lindy's llamas have had to be put down?

R4 · 22/04/2013 08:43

I'm guessing that they had a story mapped out about Lindy's llamas and Ed being trained up to go badger culling ... and then the Government cancelled the plan so they had to abort mid-story. (I'm a bit confused: I think they cancelled in the south midlands but it's still going ahead in the south west. Is that right?)

Do you want to hear Celia's husband's song: badger badger badger

Spuderoonerism · 22/04/2013 08:53

Urgh, just listened to yesterday's episode... can't see Neil dying of his 'flesh wound' (although I did have a brief chuckle imagining his torso hopping around whilst Susan flaps in the background) so it's all going to be about DarrellTheWimp... I'm also very very bored of Tom and Brenda already.

And yes dammit I want to know if Wolfgang died of TB or not!

How do we think Pip is going to get rumbled for her big day out in London; it was just a day trip wasn't it given the cover story was she was revising in the library so she must be back by now?

HomelessAngua · 22/04/2013 09:19

Is it me or is th show getting even sillier?

ppeatfruit · 22/04/2013 09:30

HomelessAngua No it's not just you ,it's annoying me too and a few others (i'm guessing here but I do get that feeling) Sadly I'm still effing listening!!!! It's an addiction Grin
