Does anyone else think the SW have got something up their sleeve for Vicky? Twice now she's mentioned how tired she is and last night she didn't make the committee meeting as she fell asleep.

There what did I say about the £500 cradle? Grin Vicky's going to spend, spend spend on the babeeeee and Mike's business is going to go bust and they'll be in deep shxx.

katieskids · 12/08/2012 19:57

See I'm all pessimistic - she's so enthusiastic I feel there's something nasty round the corner Sad

Possibly katies but Vicky is always like that Smile

I think there will at the very least be a "scare" about Downs Syndrome or high blood results or something. I've a son (2.5yrs) with DS so will be really interested in how they handle it.

ppeatfruit · 14/08/2012 16:14

Yes I reckon you're right about the blood tests wipsglitter

GreenGoldSilverAndBronzeShadow · 15/08/2012 23:34

There definitely is going to be some sort disabled story line at some point, so this all looks highly likely.

Acekicker · 19/08/2012 16:25

Not sure where this observation fits but the current storyline is confirming that Linda is at heart one of the 'nicest' characters in Ambridge - yes she has the comedy overly officious side to her but everytime she seems to come through for others, often putting her own feelings aside to do so (cf the Village Games and now supporting Vicky).

Oliver is another one who always strikes me as a good sort too, I'd like to hear more of him.

Acekicker · 21/08/2012 21:11

Just listened to Monday whilst driving home...I nearly sniffed a bit at the Vicky scenes. I'm with MrsDeVere I really want this to go well but I really fear it won't... Sad

GrendelsMum · 31/08/2012 13:12

Oh dear - poor old Vicky and Mike. We knew it was coming...

WipsGlitter · 31/08/2012 13:17

I've not been listening - has DS been confirmed?

GrendelsMum · 31/08/2012 16:22

Yep - they went to talk to the consultant yesterday.

WipsGlitter · 31/08/2012 16:25

Heard in the car at lunchtime. I got all choked. They painted a fairly bleak picture. It will be interesting to see what happens now - in reality it's about 92% of women who find out their baby has downs chose to terminate. Sad

MrsCampbellBlack · 31/08/2012 19:29

Oh this is such a sad but interesting storyline.

But lordy was just on the archers message boards and honestly the lack of empathy for Vicki is just awful.

I just can't see her terminating but can't see Mike changing his mind either.

WipsGlitter · 31/08/2012 20:02

O god. Should I avoid mustard land?!

ObviouslyOblivious · 31/08/2012 20:06

I'm avoiding ML. I haven't heard tonight's yet, but was shouting at Mike to stop being so.... I don't know. :(

MrsCampbellBlack · 31/08/2012 20:13

Well lets just say on the thread I read Vicki was described as stupid and selfish and she should just have the termination.

I was trying to remember that a lot of the archers listeners are of a different generation and so their use of offensive terminology is perhaps due to that rather than pig-headed ignorance.

ObviouslyOblivious · 31/08/2012 20:14

Yes, and I guess that's why Mike (and to some extent Vicky) was so 'un-PC' during the consultant meeting. Different generation.

MrsCampbellBlack · 31/08/2012 20:23

Vicki is just 44 or 46 I think although Mike is 60. Just can't see how its going to work out really.

ObviouslyOblivious · 31/08/2012 20:32

Ambitious SWs decide that Ambridge needs a single mother of a disabled child?
Or child will have 'mild' DS and by the time he/she is a teenager is completely recovered. Just like Jazzer's brain damage.....

Northernlurkerisonholiday · 31/08/2012 21:00

I haven't heard any of this week's episodes as we're on holiday and the internet here is not up to using listen again! However I've been following the storylines and message board comments. I agree that the message boards are not a nice place to be atm.

choccyp1g · 01/09/2012 20:28

Jazzer's brain damage
Daniel's juvenile arthritis
Joe's farmer's lung
Loads of characters in comas for weeks, with no long-term effects.

If it follows the usual Archer's plotline pattern, this will be the first known case of self-correcting Down's sydrome.

ObviouslyOblivious · 01/09/2012 20:43

Ed's Crack habit!

GrendelsMum · 02/09/2012 19:59

I really like this story line - similar situation in my parents generation in my family (and to make it even sadder , my aunt being widowed shortly after my cousin was born - hope that the SWs don't throw that into the mix). Really feel for both Vicky's hopes and Mike's worries. I can see there's no way the poor woman will have a termination atm.

MavisG · 02/09/2012 20:40
