Well for those on this thread...
When Phoebe was still in Joburg she and Kate had a barney and Phoebe jumped into a passing taxi, asking the driver to take her to her friend's house. He was a bit weird and started taking 'short cuts' to avoid the traffic.
The reason behind the barney is that Feebs has found out that Kate has been having an affair with someone from the college were she works. Lukas has also now found this out and whilst Feebs was having her scary taxi ride Lukas was having it out with Kate, thus detracting their attention from the issue of knowing were Feebs was. The taxi driver was acting weirder and more gangstery by the moment.
Feebs managed to text Lukas and he set off after the taxi in his car and managed to intercept it (improbable) by performing some Bond-esque manouvre.
Feebs was saved. All the time Lukas had his mobile phone on in a call to Kate thus giving us a blow by blow account (also improbable). But anyway.
Cut to next episode, Kate goes to see her bit on the side and tells him they should cool it. He cheerfully drops her like a hot brick saying that it was fun while it lasted, all good things must end, etc etc. Kate does much loud blubbing.
Meanwhile Feebs is getting ready to fly back to Borsetshire Central. She has a lovely goodbye with her grandparents but tells Kate that she doesn't want her to take her to the airport, and would Lukas take her instead. Kate is right put out and does some whinging about not being perfect, well darling you know what mummy is like, blah blah. Feebs not impressed and leaves with Lukas.

It seems that TA are creating plots now that force us over to Ambridge Extra to find out what the heck is going on. This would never have happened in the old days (huffs and puffs)- we would have had an episode containing a cut to the forrin scene for the real deal.
