...but does anyone else think that Amy's bloke is probably married?

OP posts:
DilysPrice · 07/05/2012 09:25

It's mad. I can understand why Usha didn't want to tell Amy herself, but in her position I'd have handed that hot potato into Alan faster than you could say "Not My Problem"

DilysPrice · 07/05/2012 09:26

Errm onto not into.

ppeatfruit · 07/05/2012 16:56

Remember Alan went on a 'retreat' didn't he? I DO think the S.W.'s have pushed the boundaries of reality though; esp. as Usha and Alan are s'posed to have a close relationship. IMO Alan is overreacting, Amy is an ADULT for chrissakes! GrinI s'pose it's difficult when you're a single parent to feel you're loosing your baby.

GrimmaTheNome · 07/05/2012 18:13

I suppose Usha got a bit confused when she realised Ruth nearly did the homewrecking thing

ragged · 08/05/2012 08:13

And Usha has to regularly bump into Shula who had a fling with Usha's live-in boyfriend Richard(?) all those years ago . So it's not like Usha hasn't had to learn to live & let live with people who knowingly commit infidelity & can still face themselves in the mirror.

Plus the very public (in the village) affairs of Emma-Ed & Brian-Siobhan. Usha has been the wronged woman, too, but has the dignity (so far?) not to throw it back at them.

WipsGlitter · 08/05/2012 08:21

Why is Adam in hospital? Have missed a few weeks, need to download the omnibus!

ppeatfruit · 08/05/2012 08:28

wips Adam surprised\tackled? some would be rustlers\burglars\poachers? and got a bash on the head for his trouble; as you can tell it wasn't entirely clear or I was sleeping awake when listening Blush maybe best to download the omnibus Grin

GrimmaTheNome · 08/05/2012 15:09

Yes ragged, Usha hasn't mentioned Shula yet but her experience there wouldn't lead her to assume christian==not liable to wreck other people's relationships. (Anyone else think Shula's qualms about Alan marrying a Hindu are some strange by-product of guilt?)

So where's Usha then? It's a shame she took it all so seriously Alan does still love her from what I can gather.

ragged · 10/05/2012 11:11

Archers msg board on the Beeb website is amusing reading, mob mentality ready to stuff pompous Alan+Amy in a wheelie bin never to be heard from again.

Abra1d · 10/05/2012 11:14

Usha tried to talk to Amy: she baked the cake for tea and then Amy rushed in to say that she was going off to Bristol with That Man.

GrimmaTheNome · 10/05/2012 11:31

She should have had words with Karl while Amy was packing her bag, shouldn't she. 'Does Amy know about Rochelle?(or whatever the wife was called)'.

Abra1d · 10/05/2012 12:19

I suspect that whatever Usha had done or not done her place was going to be in the wrong on this one.

seeker · 10/05/2012 13:00

It did make me laugh that the wife was called Rochelle so we knew she was black too! The script writers really have a Little Book of Stereotypes to call on.

Lilymaid · 10/05/2012 13:05

Every Rochelle I've come across has been Jewish and not black. All we know is that she is a "hot shot property lawyer in South Borsetshire".

ppeatfruit · 10/05/2012 13:09

Yes grimma Usha should have but didn't have the bottlethat would have meant no dramatic denouement for the S.W.'s!!

seeker in the classes I've supplied taught recently you wouldn't guess what colour the DC's were from their names believe me Grin

Bramshott · 10/05/2012 13:12

Did anyone else listening yesterday think there's a Pip fancying Tom storyline coming up??

ppeatfruit · 10/05/2012 13:19

It crossed my mind Bram (dirty mind emoticom!) then I thought 'oh probably big (who's the boss here?) rows between Pip and Brenda.!'

seeker · 10/05/2012 13:30

I know that, ppewtfruit- it's the scriptwriters that don't!

GrimmaTheNome · 10/05/2012 13:30

They're related, FFS.... I don't think they do incest on The Archers. All those farmers should know about the problems of interbreeding.

Bramshott · 10/05/2012 13:52

Ah they're only second cousins or something though aren't they (isn't Tony David's uncle??) - nothing to stand in the way of a good story!

ppeatfruit · 10/05/2012 14:19

Isn't Pip settled with her rich M.C. family approved' farmer's son? (I can't remember his name)Grin

Greenshadow · 10/05/2012 15:20

Tony and David are first cousins, so Pip and Tom are only second cousins.

GrimmaTheNome · 10/05/2012 15:25

Yes, Pip has a naice farmer boyfriend. She'd be nuts to fancy Tom...but since when has that ever stopped an Archer's scriptwriter? He's a bit old for her too isn't he?
