Loola Up seat unit doesn't sit up straight?

I have just taken delivery of my lovely new Loola Up. The only problem with this otherwise perfect pushchair is that the seat unit does not appear to have a 'sit up straight' position, and my daughter (who loved the thing in the shop) has now decided it's really uncomfortable (she's 15 months old, so I'm interpreting here).

I want to keep the pushchair as it is definitely the right one for me. There must be thousands of parents out there who also have a Loola Up and whose kids sit happily in it. How is this achieved?! Do people use cushions or something?

Any tips will be most gratefully received.

I have one and loved it until i had to turn it round to forward facing, it won't sit up straight and the clips don't go on properly either. DS3 is hardly over weight even if a thick coat!!

Send it back while you still can !!

I had a Loola going back 3 years ago and used to drive me mad that it wouldn't sit up straight.

My ds was always pushing himself forward to compensate.

We have one - it does have a nearly straight up position, but I thought it didn't until I really pushed it forward as hard as possible while holding the clip thing that you use to release it open, iyswim. I only managed it without the buggy snuggle in it, and haven't put it down since as I'm too scared I'll never do it again!

Those of you with the Loola Up can you help me? Is it difficult/easy to push and get up kerbs especially when in rear facing cos I know the original Loola wasn't very good at this.

You are breaking my heart, people - I spent so long researching the damn thing, I got a great deal on e-bay...

I am trying what Twilight said, but I fear if I push any harder something will break!

Make sure you're really pulling the clip as far as it will go to release it, iyswim. I would go and try undoing mine and doing it agian, but I'm petrified I'll never get it back up!

it was my dream buggy too. i wanted rear facing one handle and small fold.

Well, its HUGE when you fold with the seat bit on. It's HEAVY when you have a toddler as opposed to a baby in it. ine, now, doesn't even go up properly, i need to give it a really massive yank to get it to click in on one side. I have to put the clips on in a strange way because they are too short to go over DS3s shoulders - he is normal height.

NA, i think you have CATd me before about this. It depends on the weight of your child to how it pushes. Kerbs are easier rear facing but i used rear facing when DS3 was much much younger.

T - i have done that before but it doesn't stay as it's not an "official" position!

MoM possibly - however I am still looking out for a bargain one on Ebay as DS won't fit in one much longer.

It doesn't sit straight up at a 90 degree angle, no - but then my umbrella fold buggy doesn't either. However it did really bug me, so I "customised" it a bit and now it's perfect

What I did was attach a set of reins to the D-rings (without the parent strap), passing them through the loop in the crotch strap before attaching, and that gives you a "freedom harness" like in a highchair or a Mamas & Papas buggy. That way I can strap DS in securely (he is also 15 months and likes to climb out of things) but he can also sit forward, holding onto the bumper bar, and see out at everything.

If I want him to go to sleep I tend to put the original straps on as otherwise he has been known to fall asleep slumped over the bar though.

nappyaddict It's easier to push up kerbs because of the single bar handle, you can push in the middle of it which gives you more force if that makes sense.

mumofmonsters the straps are too short on some batches of the Loola Up, this is a manufacturing fault. If you write to/email dorel (used to own bebeconfort) they will send you replacement straps free of charge. Although they have been bought by maxi cosi now so you may have to write to them instead.

I bought it when it was brand new just over 2 years ago - i think they will laugh in my face now !! Will be getting rid as son as i can be arsed to faff about cleaning it and actually stop using it!!. It's been better than my £20 umbrella fold in this snow purely because of the single handle!

mine has never really sat upright either!

Well I had the problem with the straps and got new ones probably 6 months ago, after reading posts on forums from about 2007 mentioning it, so worth a try.

Agree it has been great in the snow as it's so chunky.

Can I ask: what is this strange black thing in the box? It's flat, fabric, about the length of the foot rest but doesn't seem to fit anywhere that I can see. Has a plethora of poppers on it.

Is it the cover for the bar that goes across the seat unit? That has a cover that poppers onto it to make it a bit softer.

I have got a spare bit like that too. No, it's not the bumper bar cover (that has a zip, not poppers) - it's not really fabricky though, more sort of vinyl material. Like what the shopping basket is made from.

The most annoying part is I remember taking it off somewhere when I first got the pushchair, but I still have no idea where it goes!

I too am so dissapointed with my Loola Up :-( I bought it April 2007 (Louis is now 19 months old) and initially it was fantastic! As a pram for clicking the baby seat in and out, it's great but as soon as your using it as a pushchair it lets itself down badly. The reclined seat position is uncomfortable for my little one, he's always trying and failing to sit up straight in it. My husband and I have both tried and failed to get it to sit up straight.

The cosy toe is so short that my son only fits in it if he bends his legs.

The other problem we have is that whilst the baby seat is in, it feels very rigid whilst with the pram seat in, it feels wobbly as if something has not locked in place.

Darn it, the Loola looked like a real possible for baby no3 until I saw this thread! Dreams shot down in flames

Ideally was after a rear facing pram that swivelled well on its wheels. Old pram is an outward facing M&P, has terrible maneuverability and only collapses now when it feels like it.

Cannot justify £700+ on a bugaboo on 3rd and last child so the other option is the indestructible lightweight Maclaren that gets such good reviews, but it's outward facing and not suitable from birth (unless you get the carrycot which mine'll be in for 5 minutes)

Where is that elusive perfect pram????

Heated I still love my Loola Up - sadly there's no such thing as the perfect buggy, but it ticks a lot of boxes for me.

I love mine too and have found the problems on this thread easy to overcome.

Another option though - have you seen the Britax Vigour?
