DH wants this as it's just a single bed which will last him for a long time. Plus we have this so he likes the symatry

I like the Thomas bed but wouldn't spend that much on a bed which it says will only go up to 5 ish so it'd have to be on a good offer. He does have a cot/bed but he's a big boy so I don't think it'll last him that long

5inthebed · 19/09/2009 21:10

That bed is gorgeous. He'd be dwarfed in it though! Thats why I prefer toddler beds first.

scattykatty · 19/09/2009 21:13

Yeah, I was thinking about bed guards. I won't get one til the new year when he's 2 but I just want to have a few opinions and a few to look at so I can make a good decision.

MY DH really doesn't want a junior bed, he says it's a toal waste of money, either DS has to stay cramped in his cot/bed or we get a single I think My friend had the Thomas bed for her DS but she got rid of it sadly.

5inthebed · 19/09/2009 21:23

I'd use the cot bed in bed mode until your ds gets used to using a bed, then move him to a proper bed, and use the cot bed matress on the floor instead of a bed guard. Both DS1+2 went from toddler beds to mid sleepers though so no need for bed guards as they are already built in.

nicolamumof3 · 19/09/2009 21:39

5inthebed · 19/09/2009 21:45

I forgot you were out tonight Nic, was going to text to see if all was ok. Glad you managed to talk

maxybrown · 19/09/2009 22:30

We have ikea toddler bed, tis fab. On smallest setting and DS looks like a tiny baby in it I can fit in scrunched up too

maxybrown · 19/09/2009 22:31

Oh..... I just looked at that JL one! Ours was £8, still, it does the job and DS very happy in it so that's the main thing! He would have grown out of it by time I saved up for that

scattykatty · 19/09/2009 22:35

Yeah thank God he's only 20 months as I have some serious saving to do

NewPinkPup · 19/09/2009 22:46

Just been having a peek & saw the chat about beds..
scattykatty - the Thomas bed is the same size as a cot bed (uses the same mattress) so if your ds is big I'd give it a miss, my parents got one for ds1, but he is tall so we only used it for about 9/10 months, he was out of it at 3 as he'd wake himself up.
I know there is a wooden one that's a full sized single, can't remember who it's by though.

scattykatty · 19/09/2009 22:52

OMG your parents bought that Thomas bed and it only lasted 9 months?! My parents would kill me if that happened I'm sure they'd say I was feeing him too much so I could waste their money

NewPinkPup · 19/09/2009 23:22

Lol, they bought it for his 2nd birthday & I'd told them not to so they couldn't say anything to me. As soon as I had a boy my dad was buying everything Thomas (he was their first grandchild & my dad is a big kid)
But he is V tall, at 4 he's in age 6 clothes, or 7 from some shops!!

It's now in their attic being stored for ds2, who so far doesn't seem as big as ds1.

I only said as I saw you said your ds was cramped in his cot bed & its the same size.

pebbles79 · 20/09/2009 00:49

I've just moved DD into a bed and can't believe that I've dismantled my cot for the last time . Very proud of myself today though - used a sewing machine for the first time since I was at school 9 (about 15 years ago!!) and adapted a single duvet cover into a toddler one and did a great job - DH was laughing at how proud I was of myself .

5inthebed · 20/09/2009 07:31

Well done Pebs! How are you doing since your op?

nicolamumof3 · 20/09/2009 07:44

Morning all, i have a mountain of ironing to do today, just checked and my sofa is out for delivery tomorrow, typical when im at hospital all day!!

BexieID · 20/09/2009 07:47

I'm sat eating chocolate Ready Brek then i'm off to work! Thought i'd earn some extra spending money for when my parents are up at half term . Especially as we're off to a big shopping centre, Ikea and a big Tesco that week!

pebbles79 · 20/09/2009 09:38

I'm doing really well Nicola but a bit of the would doesn't seem to be healing and (TMI warning), it hurts when I'm trying to push out the last of a wee - I need to hold my stomach in to do it. I'm going to try and get out next week so I'll go across to my work to hand in my sick line and maybe ask one of the nurses about it - don't really want to go to the GP if it's normal.

sweetkitty · 20/09/2009 11:09

hi all just trying to keep up, am feeling as sick as a dog these days.

Have sent heartbreaker back to Dis and my friend is after my Lunamix but I don't want to sell it as DB4 not due to May and don't want to be pushing about Mac XT for that long, will be getting a P&T I think probably a Sport and some nice buggysnuggles.

Bexie - think we might be going to that Ikea and shopping centre next week too

5inthebed · 20/09/2009 16:41

I love Ikea. Always spend too much when I am there though.

I think Dis is selling the Infinity SK, it's on the sales boards under her new (?) nickname.

Missed out on a M&P MPX for £15 local. Gutted. It would have been a great RF for now.

Sunoon, have emailed you pics of vigour.

AphroditesGrannyNightie · 20/09/2009 16:43

Awww £15 MPX im still looking for a cheap one!!
