Could someone please just tell me what pushchair to buy?

DC1 due in Oct.

Was going to be given a pram second hand, but that has fallen through.

I'm tall and want something with a high handle. No idea about lifestyle after baby is here. Drive a focus so have enough boot space for most options I think.

Looked today quite like Stoke trailz and uppababy vista. Favourite was bugaboo buffalo. Mamas and Papas doing a deal on zoom for £200. Financially makes a lot of sense, we hadn't budgeted any money fur a pram. However it felt a bit low to push and have heard basket capacity is low. Don't want a false economy. Also a bit wary of m&p after recalling the armadillo. They have known fur ages and only just recalled.

Could someone please tell me what to buy??

Bugaboo is good for tall people, handle will go really high. Have you tried looking on gumtree for a local second hand one if you haven't budgeted for a new one?

Uppababy Vista. Can be converted to a double if needed (), it's very lightweight (comparatively), good on rough terrain, huge basket. The carrycot is on the small side but I think that's probably by the by really.

Fwiw I have a Bugaboo Buffalo. It's lovely, but very, very heavy to push uphill (or any slight incline). I had SPD for 11 months after DS was born (lucky me!!) and I genuinely think the weight didn't help. I do love it and will be sad to get rid of it, but if I did it again it would be the Vista for me.

Uppababy vista - have one and it's been amazing. I'm only 5'5 though - try out how the handle feels for you in a shop?

I don't have a pram/buggy this time around. I just use Moby Wraps/an Ergo sling. No problem getting on public transport, easy to run around after his brother, and I can cook dinner/do stuff around the house.

It's a good alternative and makes life easier.

I knew several people who had Mamas and Papas prams when I had DD1 (who is now 6). All of them had problems with them and teo of them had the fun experience of a wheel falling off without warning. I wouldnt buy a M and P own brand pram based on that experience! I am now pregnant with my third (having got rid of EVERYTHING after DD2) and have bought a secondhand Bugaboo Cameleon. I plan to sell it after I've finished with the lie flat carrycot phase and buy a new Babyjogger City Mini, which is what I had for the DDs. I like that it folds easily and has a big storage basket, but the carrycot attachment is quite unattractive so have opted for the Cameleon until I need a fold-up buggy.

Uppababy vista is ACE. Was in John Lewis the other day and a woman came to ask me about it and I did a mega sales pitch! Am 5'10 and find the height is perfect for me. It is in the big side so will depend a bit on your home/lifestyle but I'm in London and have managed it on buses and occasional tube and it is bulky but fine! Also the massive basket is the best thing ever as you can carry the entire world with you. Once we saw this one I stopped looking and have no regrets!

Baby Jogger city mini or GT

I have the Uppababy Vista. I'm 6'. It's perfect.
The storage is excellent.
It can be steered one handed.
The wheels are not air filled which means it cannot get punctures - this happened to a friend of mine!
It doesn't feel too heavy to lug around.
It folds easily and we have fitted (fat?!) it in our boot, rear seat and front seat for various reasons.
The maxi cosi pebble fits onto it with the adapters, which come automatically with the Vista (did from John Lewis anyway) and it comes with rain cover, insect net (never used) and integral sun shades which are UVA I think.

It was an expensive option but all in all we still use it for our DD at 18m, I intend to use it for the next one, I'm very pleased with it and definitely recommend.
PS resale value probably still good. Have a look on ebay for 2nd hands?

I also have the uppababy vista and love it! I'm short, but love the fact that it's so easy to change the height of the handle for my DH when he pushes. It's very light and easy to push, good on all terrain (I have taken it round the cross country course at Badminton Horse trials for example!), it has tons of room for shopping on the bottom and comes with absolutely everything you need.

You can usually get them on a good deal with a car seat - try groovy style baby equipment, I got mine from there. My only small complaint would be that you can't make it completely flat for sleeping, it reclines fully, but it's still a bucket seat. It's not really bothered me, but it would be the icing on the cake if it could do that.

City mini gt. My 6 foot DH loves the adjustable handle. Can get carrycot adapters or use a graco cot insert. Plus car seat adapters available too for various models.

Is it right if you go to one of the new parent evenings they often have 10% discount at M&P etc?

We have a silvercross wayfarer and it is brilliant. It gets used every day and stands up to it well. We have a megane so boot space you'd be fine with the focus. My husband is over 6 foot and finds the handle height comfortable.

I would have got the vista if I wasn't only s shortie. Lovely pram, although quite big. You might find yourself looking at strollers at about 1 year. I'd avoid mamas and papas

I had Stokke Xplory, terrific but an absolute tank and impossible on public transport. Just bought a Bugaboo Cameleon, love it!

Friends that bought mamas and papas have all returned (for tipping issues) and bought a bugaboo.

I bought the icandy strawberry. Atm it is definitely the nicest easiest to pack away all in one buggy for the most reasonable price

how long do the babies use these things for?

I assumed until they were old enough to walk relatively reliably 3 ish? But have seen lots of comments about growing out of them by 1yo?

Is that because they don't fit, or what?

I have a Joolz Day - I'm 5'10'' and its great for me as yu can extend the handles.

You can buy an extra shopping basket that hooks under the chassis and is amazing.

Its one of the only carrycots that a baby could sleep in over night if you wanted (we went away a few times with DS under six months/he stayed with my mum a few times)

I don't like to keep a baby in a car seat for any longer than absolutely necessary so I did't use the car seat adaptors - although they are available.

The seat is high up which my son loves and its great for me (being tall).

Im on my third child and he is now 16 months - I'm still using this and its been my favourite pushchair.

I'd have got the Vista if I were tall. Great buggy and the 2015 version converts to a fab double if you are thinking of another one within 2-3 yrs.

Some people "move on" to a lightweight umbrella fold stroller (like a Maclaren) once baby = toddler, because they take up less space in the hallway/car boot. Others keep using the big buggy for ages though. Unlikely to grow out of the Vista for a long time, it's roomy.

If you want one which is a bit less bulky and lighter (and so avoid being tempted to switch to a stroller later) then you could look at the Baby Jogger City Mini - but they don't parent face.

Another vote for the Vista here. We've had just over 2 years use out of it with DS and I'm 31 weeks pregnant with DC2, have absolutely no doubt that I'll get another 2-3 years out of it. We bought it as a bundle from Pramworld. Car seat, bassinet all great for first few months. Love how easy it is to switch between parent/ forward facing. Basket is massive. Ridiculously so. We got a lightweight umbrella fold for holidays and when DS started to walk, but I've been spoilt by the Vistas ease of steering. You can literally push it with one finger. Suspension is great, no problems gettig it up and down kerbs or overy rough terrain. Brake is easy, one foot. And (unless your my PIL and you don't bloody pay attention when I'm showing you how to do something! !!!) it's really easy to fold down and put up.

Anyone know the difference between the rumble seat and the toddler seat?

Rumble seat doesn't recline at all and doesn't look very big. Toddler seat is a proper seat.

If you look on the bestbuggy website, it has reviews of both versions, I think.

My massive 2 year old has loads of room in the Vista, and my 5 year old nephew even had a comfy ride in it when he was exhausted after a very long day out this week, so I cannot see how a child would grow out of it before they were of a good walking age. The vista even pushes well over a beach when laden with the beach and picnic crap for 6 people :)
