ICandy Peach 2 - a few Qs

Hello everyone
Have had my heart set on the new peach blossom2 for a while now and finally the new price list is on the website for me to look at online. Seems to cost more now which is a bit :( for me to justify in my head.

Just a few Q's, how essential are the following:

  • the £40 per seat liners were for the new peach blossom 2 (2012 model)
  • £80 Foot muff, worth it or not and how many? I have a 17 month old and a new born not due till early Aug so not sure how essential this is. Currently have a Maclaren XLR and only used the footmuff on that a handful of times.
  • Carry cot, hubby thinks no as DS1 hated being flat when out and we loved the flexibility of the car seat. Don't think the little one will be in car seat for more than 2 hrs anyway at any point.
  • Do Recaro carseats really fit on the peachblossom. Have seen lots of adaptors for sale will various sellers online but am unsure if that's for the top or bottom seating position.

Thanks in advance
:)

Liners are not essential but the seats are definitely more comfy for a little one with them in. But you could buy the footmuff and zip the front off if you are contemplating footmuffs which would save you £40. The footmuffs are a bit low though. I like a child snuggly up to their chin but the iCandy ones sit low on a child. But trying to find a footmuff to fit the Peach isn't easy - it really needs to zip in or stay put. The Quinny ones work well for younger children.
If you are using the car seat then you don't need the carrycot but you shouldn't use the seat unit pre 6 months old. I like the parent facing car seat on the Peach Blossom. It's lovely.
I am not aware that Recaro adaptors fit. ICandy I thought just made Maxi Cosi adaptors and the sockets are quite unusual so I would check this out. The Pebble and Cabriofix fit.

Hi, I ordered my peach today with the recaro seat and adapters. They definitely fit.
I chose the tomato colour as the older colours still come with the liner included and I'm not a fan of the new colours, they don't seem as vibrant Smile

Tiggywunkle · 07/04/2012 01:09

Thats good to know about the Recaro seat :) I like learning new things!

LKbabyH · 09/04/2012 08:56

Thanks for the responses both much appreciated.
Tiggy: I'll have a google for the quinny footmuffs to see but have a feeling I might just get the liners from what you've said. They sound essential (for comfort) than the foot muffs where I can make do with another brand as you suggested or I could always dress the child in question better for the weather or get another blanket I guess :)
Snala: Glad to hear about the car seat, thanks for confirming. Just wondering will the car seat be at the back or the front with recaro adaptors?

I wouldn't say the liners were essential but I do think they pad the seat out a bit for a younger child. Another option would be a custom made footmuff which leaves a liner behind which may work out cheaper?

Sgj14 · 09/04/2012 13:22

I was convinced that I wanted a city mini double but have changed my mind over the past few weeks and now want a peach blossom 2 (of course I do, it's twice as expensive!) However I can't seem to find a release date for it, is it already out or due anytime soon? If anyone can shed some light on it I'd be very grateful. TIA

Tiggywunkle · 09/04/2012 13:25

Give John Lewis or your local iCandy retailer a call. John Lewis are apparently getting them first. The first colour single pushchairs are in the UK but not for sale - but some people have been able to place orders. We dont know when the Blossom kits will arrive but they shouldn't be far away. But it all seems a bit pot luck. Ask several places for updates and see what you get back!!

Sgj14 · 09/04/2012 14:12

Ok will do, thank you. I've never owned an iCandy before so I'm not sure how it works, do I buy the pushchair as a single and then buy all the add ons, such as converter, car seat adaptor etc afterwards, or is there a way you can buy it all as a package? Also, where can I see what colours there will be? Thanks again, sorry for all the questions.

haylez · 09/04/2012 15:36

I can't wait to see the next generation colours in full. I love the sweetpea colour and asked around but most places keep telling me they don't have any in stock so thinking I should wait for the next generation. I'm very interested in seeing how they've improved/adapted the Peach - especially as the original is so popular already! It is shamefully, my dream buggy (not so much for the bank balance though...)

Tiggywunkle · 09/04/2012 15:47

Haylez To be honest the main Peach hasn't changed. There have been rolling changes across time eg the hood windows have been removed, the harnesses got longer, the basket got extended etc etc but there's now nothing new apart from the colours. It's the Blossom kit that has changed and really needed a new title as the new double set up is different whether its the seats, carrycots or car seat configurations. The new colours should in theory filter through before the next batch of the old colours arrive.

Sgj14 you buy the single stroller and then buy the Blossom kit. This then gives you the chassis, two seats, raincovers and Convertor bars. Then you need either the carrycot and/or car seat adaptors for the first 6 months. The colours including real life photos are on here under both the single and tandem Peach sections. The prices are on there too or the list is available for download from the iCandy website. A shop may well do you a deal if you buy everything from them but they are limited by iCandy as to the deals they can do. You are likely to get more of a discount if you buy say the car seat as well.

Thanks very much. I think it'll be the black or silver for me. I have a John Lewis nearby so will go in this week and pre-order if I can. I just hope I dont get swayed by something else whilst I'm in there...

Sgj14 · 09/04/2012 19:48

I also hope that they get the blossom in before June...

Jodders83 · 11/04/2012 10:40

I had my order placed at the nursery trade show in March as advised icandy they also told me I will have it by my due date which is the beginning of June. I have received a phone call this week telling me my pram will not be available until September!! I ordered the Silver Mint colour. Apparently the Black Magic will be available first sometime in June but no other release dates for the other colours. Spoke to John Lewis the other day and they will know more information in a couple of weeks - looks like it will be a big mess up like the with the Strawberry. I now have to go out and find a another pram, really had my heart set on that one.

ItsMyLastOne · 11/04/2012 14:20

iCandy have made such a mess of all this haven't they! I'm due in the beginning of December and even I'm worried that if I ordered anything but black I might not get it in time. Well maybe the pushchair but not the blossom kit.

They seem so disorganised and are making decisions way too late IMO.

haylez · 11/04/2012 18:10

it's a shame as I've been looking into getting one myself though I'd imagine after the kerfuffle with the strawberry that it's more a problem down the manufacturing line rather than iCandy specifically. They wouldn't hold them back if they had them.

Thanks Tiggy for the info also :)

Sgj14 · 11/04/2012 19:33

I ordered mine today, the sales assistant told me they are due into their warehouse at the end of April. However she did warn me that the chances are that it'll be delayed, by how long she couldn't tell me. She did "joke" that it might be a good idea to have a back up plan just in case they weren't in by my due date (mid june). Can't fault her honesty. I figured I can always cancel my order if there is no pushchair in sight by the time the baby comes. It's hard when you've set your heart on a particular pushchair though, suddenly everything else just isn't as good!

ItsMyLastOne · 11/04/2012 22:11

Sgj14 did you order from John Lewis? And did you have to pay a deposit or the whole balance? I'm just trying to work out how much I'd have to pay now if I ordered soon.

Tiggywunkle · 11/04/2012 23:07

The people I know who ordered through JL haven't paid anything. I don't know if that's true for all though.

Sgj14 · 12/04/2012 08:31

Yes I ordered through John Lewis and I haven't paid anything yet, and I won't have to until the pushchair comes in. I can cancel my order at any point, up to the point when they phone me to tell me that it's in. If I'd had to have paid some or all of the balance I'm not sure I would have risked going ahead with it seeing as the delivery date is still so uncertain.

RnB · 12/04/2012 08:48

I've got a Peach bought in 2010, will the new blossom adaptor kits work on it?

Jodders83 · 12/04/2012 11:52

I ordered through an independent retailer and I had to put down 20% deposit, which they have confirmed I can get back. They do want me to hold on a little longer in case there is a turn around but I'm not getting my hopes up. I've spoken to a few other shops and they are all saying the same. Will have to carrying on looking for a back up and hope there isn't a delay/waitlist for that one too.

Jodders83 · 12/04/2012 12:17

sgj14 which colour did you order?

Sgj14 · 12/04/2012 13:26

I ordered the black. I prefer the silver mint colour but I'd heard the black might come in first and I'd rather have it, in the black, than wait another few weeks or find an alternative pushchair.

ItsMyLastOne · 12/04/2012 13:33

I feel the same about the colours. My favourite is the berry Bon Bon (although it mg be a bit girly if I have a boy) but I am definitely worried there won't be any in that colour by December. I might just get berry Bon Bon liners and put them on the black magic pushchair.

RnB if you buy a new blossom kit it will fit onto the older chassis but ate colours are different. In the uk they're only doing the new blossom kit in the new colours, whereas in the us and Australia (and I believe other places too) they're doing it in the existing colours. It might work of you have black jack and get a blossom kit in black magic maybe, but it'll never match perfectly.
