I AM SO PISSED OFF!

Baby no. 1 due feb 15th

I want an ICandy Strawberry

It's been 'delayed' again til Jan, could be delayed further. So now I need to do an emergency shop for an alternative.

I had my heart set on it! Why why why do company's do this so much?! Why give estimate dates they never stick to? Why just not
Give any dates at all until they have signed the prams off in full.

Fuck you iCandy

Also.... Be prepared for lots of 'this or that?' threads from me v v v soon.

Fuckers Angry

If you've got your heart set on it, why not just buy something cheap on eBay or a lie flat stroller if you really need to? Then you'll have something to tide you over until your dream pushchair arrives. It probably will be out before the baby is though. Wink

I do agree about giving out dates though. And the way companies show off upcoming pushchairs at baby shows even though they know they won't be available for 9 months or whatever.

agree with korma... it's disappointing, but it's hardly the end of the world

don't get me wrong, I love pushchairs and have quite a collection lol, but I woul;dn't get this wound up about one being delayed (i don't think)

Heavensmells · 12/11/2011 19:17

I think that the peach is much nicer anyway!

Tiggywunkle · 12/11/2011 20:15

Yes it's disappointing but it happens with almost all new pushchairs. I always add several months onto expected due dates for pushchairs.
I agree with the others. It's a matter of weeks rather than months. Waiting a few weeks means you will have a great pushchair for your LO and subsequent children.
Buy something cheaper - maybe that you could later use as a lightweight / small fold option - or buy wisely to sell again and get the Strawberry when it arrives. Or if you are that fed up look for something else.
But these things happen a lot with pushchairs.

Kayano · 12/11/2011 20:47

I know but it's soo annoying! Even the guy in the shop was looking and couldn't believe it, said he had seen the first lot in jan this year and since then it had been delayed and delayed and delayed.

I added months on as it was due initially in Aug, then oct, then I was told nov 11th, and today was given dec and then January.

As bump (just because I am excited about my first ever pushchair does nt mean I am not as excited for my first baby btw Hmm ) is due feb I can't really hand around and hope it comes out in time.

I'm just so frustrated its unreal, it's the only thing about getting sorted for baby that has given me any stress Confused

OP posts:
aswellasyou · 12/11/2011 21:07

OK, well why don't you shop around for a backup pushchair, but don't actually buy it until a couple of weeks before your due date? It's not that common to have a pushchair sitting at home for a few months before the baby arrives, at least not amongst people I know. You'd be eating into the guarantee time without actually using it. As long as you're not buying something obscure/imported from NZ/unreleased yet/handmade, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to buy it and have it delivered the same week.

So what do you want? Need? Presumably your budget's about £5-600 including all accessories.

thisisyesterday · 12/11/2011 21:38

i'm not sure why you can't wait?

when you get to a few weeks before your due date you can order something else if the icandy still isn't in stock surely?

Kayano · 12/11/2011 21:41

I will wait but I now have to have a 'backup plan' mate I should have put this in AIBU rather than here because honestly I think I just needed to ventBlush

And breathe Smile

OP posts:
aswellasyou · 12/11/2011 21:49

Have a Brew, a Biscuit, some Thanks and a sit down. Smile

Some backup suggestions then;
Uppababy Vista
iCandy Peach
2012 Silver Cross Surf (if it's out before the Strawberry-I think it's due in January too)
I'm stuck now! Blush

thisisyesterday · 12/11/2011 22:08

nooooo you shouldn't!! you'd have had a ton of people telling you yabu and saying you should just buy a cheap stroller and then it would turn into the old reverse boasting thing
"i got a cheapo one from argos and it was fab"
"well I got one that my mum had in the loft and that was even better"
"yes well I had one that I just made of scraps we found in the shed"
"i don't know why anyone would spend that much on a pushchair, I simply used muslins to tie my baby round my back Hmm"

and so on and so on...

you've come to the right place if it's a back-up plan you want!

if I was having a baby I would be quite wanting the uppababy vista

cookielove · 12/11/2011 22:14

I had a look at the site, and all the icandy's look the same to me

Kayano · 12/11/2011 22:45

As well and yesterday. I have relaxed and researched a bit and actually the list I wrote matches yours!

Now I've chilled out with my shloer and Biscuit and Bear it's quite good looking at prams online lol

OP posts:
Tiggywunkle · 12/11/2011 22:53

You really wont go far wrong with either a Peach or a Vista. They are both two brilliant pushchairs. BUT....I hear the Peach is in short supply too and the new pastel colours are due out in March. So if you want a Peach, get talking to your iCandy retailer again soon!!!

Kayano · 12/11/2011 22:55

Not a single shop in Newcastle stocks the vista sigh

OP posts:
aswellasyou · 13/11/2011 11:22

Have you got any plans to visit friends or family elsewhere before your baby's due? You could see if there are any Vista stockists near them.

aswellasyou · 13/11/2011 11:24

And TIY is spot on with the AIBU responses! Grin It wouldn't be long before people would start claiming they never needed a pushchair because they're baby walked out of their womb! Hmm

Kayano · 13/11/2011 14:54

I have organised a little family excursion to co. Durham next week to check out the vista

I am also going to look again at the peach, the silver cross surf and the mama and papas sola and rubix.

Grin

Tiggywunkle · 13/11/2011 15:07

Well done :o Enjoy!

mumatron · 13/11/2011 15:20

Don't buy the rubix.

I have one and loved it until the last few weeks. The frame feels like it needs tightening up. I've just picked it up from m&p and it feels exactly the same.

The rain covers are shit too. I'm on my 2nd set in 10 months.

I'm heading back there tomorrow to stage a sit in until they swap it for a Sola Grin

aswellasyou · 13/11/2011 17:18

M&P customer service is appalling!
Well done organising the trip. Wink I thought I'd read the 2012 Surf was out in January/February but I've just read here that it's due in the spring. It's a shame because the air tyres and bigger basket will make it much better than the current Surf. I suspect you'll decide the Vista or Peach will be the best back-up plans though. Hopefully the Vista stockist also has a Peach on show to compare.

Tiggywunkle · 15/11/2011 01:03

Just a note to say I was reading on the iCandy Facebook page that one shop is still hoping to get stock of the Strawberry at the end of December and if not soon after. They say they have free stock available from that first delivery. I know iCandy want you to buy from your local retailer but it may be worth a phone around and explain. Delivery dates are dependant on when the retailer placed their order.

Daisy1986 · 15/11/2011 01:20

Couldn't you buy a sling instead? Just use that untill your pushchair is ready. Then you won't have to find somewhere to store a 2nd pushchair and its handy to have when you need to get on with house work or your baby just wants to be carried around all the time.
