What do you think of this bed? Decadent? Or daft?!

Am looking to buy what, I suspect, will be my last ever bed.

Just being realistic - mid 50s, the last bed I bought for myself was getting on for 30 years ago...it's just maths!

Anyway...single now, no kids...living in a nice rented flat in a Georgian property.

I like my bedroom being a cozy, dark, semi-decadent retreat; a nice boudoir...without the sleaziness, ofc.

So, with that said - what do people think of this bed? A bit too much? Or a fine indulgence?

Let me know thoughts/experience/alternatives please.

Thanking you!

Not to my taste in good. I think I could get behind it if it was hot pink or something more suited to my taste. Those corners would a no though, I'm always sitting on the corners of our bed, that metal up the ass would hurt 😂

OldWallpaper · 21/09/2026 20:22

I love it!!!

greatestofallfine · 21/09/2026 21:20

I love it! Not something I would usually go for, but wow!

Pixiedust49 · 21/09/2026 21:25

Gorgeous! And I wouldn’t worry about the dust at all. After all it’s your dust 😂!

Davros · 21/09/2026 23:05

I like it. Get it!

Hey, thank you so much, everyone for your thoughts....perhaps just a bit of whimsy from me - and not my usual style, tbh, but...I've always loved it on hols when I've seen this style of old antique French furniture in gites/villas etc.

It's expensive, definitely, but...as I say, it could be my last ever bed.

The chat turned a bit morbid in work when I mentioned this the other day, actually; I suddenly imagined my 80 year old self fading away in it surrounded by my grandchildren....ha!

Well, it would be a nice way to go, tbh, so here's hoping.

So, if I'm literally looking to buy my own deathbed - might as well make it a nice one, eh?!😝

Couple of things ppl have mentioned

Stubbed toes! Yep, I hadn't really noticed how the feet stick out a bit - that would be horrible, wouldn't it?! Will have to watch out for that.

Modern homes someone mentioned. Did you mean "modernist"?

Tbh, I've not long moved from a really cool 70s flat to an equally cool Georgian one, but my 70s living room was done up with my 60s bookcases, paintings and coffee table.

They don't really go with this new place, but...there we go.

When I buy my own place again, I think it'll be a modernist flat, tbh - maybe even an ex LA 60s/70s one...but I think I'd still be allowed a posh, moodily opulent bohemian maximalist look in my bedroom, wouldn't I?!

Hmmm...we'll see. I need a bed, so...

However, no, I haven't seen it irl - the showroom's in Hertfordshire. I might be able to get there when in London for work, but...I'll try to source something similar closer to home, maybe.

I'd deffo want to see before laying out a couple of grand, tbh.

Oh OP that is lush!!! Pls buy it, you won’t regret it ♥️

abracadabra1980 · 22/09/2026 05:14

Absolutely stunning - but not for a modern home.

BCBird · 22/09/2026 05:23

Not for me, but get why you like it based on the property you live in. 30years is a long time for a bed, don't know if they are built to last like this now. I would say if the hope is for it to last, it looks a little low for perhaps as you get older?. Looove Georgian architecture. I would be imagining myself in a Jane Austen novel!!!!

Glitchymn1 · 22/09/2026 05:25

I’d check the reviews, they aren’t amazing.

Lostsadandconfused · 22/09/2026 05:27

I love it, if you have the right setting for it.

I wouldn’t want to have to make this bed though, tucking the sheet into those corners. I’m all about a bed that’s easy to make, especially as I get older. If I had to buy another one I’d consider one of those ones on a platform that rise up to make it.

Bogstandardname · 22/09/2026 06:47

You can make your bedroom the right setting for it but I agree, you need to see it before you commit.

Morecoffeeneedef · 22/09/2026 06:51

Do see it in real life first because photos can be misleading. Best of luck !

MrsNessaSmithy · 22/09/2026 07:02

love it but not very practical.

if you ever have surgery or mobility issues and need help getting in and out of bed it will be a nightmare !

AllJoyAndNoFun · 22/09/2026 07:57

Are you able to see it in person before ordering? It's just one of those things that could look quite different IRL. They have good reviews and I actually got a desk from them recently and it's fine/ solid but the colour/ wash is a bit different to the photos, so for 2k I'd probably want to see it.

Another option - French Bedroom- got DD's bed from there and it's really lovely.

LibertyLily · 22/09/2026 11:25

If it's the French look you love @JandLandG I'd try to find an original antique bed, then add a very good quality mattress. However, the larger size beds, eg king/super king aren't in abundance, so this might not be possible.

Twenty years ago we purchased an extremely unique original French (or possibly Belgian according to the seller) Art Nouveau bed which cost £4500 including a small matching wardrobe and chest. It seemed a lot of money at the time but I've never seen another bed like it - the organic carving on the head and foot boards is spectacular.

It's only a 4'6 double though, so these days it's in a guest room whilst we have a super king ottoman bed with Sealy mattress and a faux headboard painted on the wall! I can just repaint that if it gets dirty - which is my other concern re the fabric headboard in the bed you're considering.

OriginalSkang · 22/09/2026 11:27

I love it, but it would definitely need the right setting

Greenandyellowday · 22/09/2026 23:26

Hi @JandLandG

I quite like French Baroque or Roccoco style furniture, with gilded (or gold painted) wood, but you asked for frank opinions, so I'll give mine... If you're going for what a lot of people think has "class" it's lacking. But if you're going for footballer's wag bling, it rocks.

The silk upholstery is a mistake by the designer/shop. That kind of silk isn't suitable for upholstery. It's beautiful, but too delicate and loose-woven even for curtains, unless in a north-facing room. It rots to shreds in light and it won't last very long on a headboard. I'm guessing there's a choice of fabrics though?

I don't think you'd stub your toes, as the feet don't stick out too much. Are the corners on the foot of the bed carved out of wood, or moulded from resin? I'm just wondering how easily they could be damaged/snapped.

However, if you love it and it brings you joy...
