It’s a house that tells a complete story - a social history of a family growing, expanding, then contracting, adapting and, eventually, fading.

That house saw a lot of years, a lot of love. Its story should be treasured and cherished, not mocked.

Maybe the person couldn't walk so a small room wouldn't work with a wheelchair.

Maybe they couldn't afford to pay for any additional works.

Maybe they were only briefly ill before they died and there wasn't time.

Is it really that difficult to imagine?

Yes unusual but guessing as others said that it was built so that the owner wouldn’t have to go up 2 flights of stairs

it’s a big room so a fake/partition wall could be easily put up and then have a downstairs loo
