I have followed these threads from afar but finally have one of my own Grin
This is a new house being built somewhere I drive past on a regular basis. It is completely out of keeping with the other houses along the road and just looks strange. What do you think? Am I a dinosaur as I like my houses to look like houses or is this they way designs are going?

The bedrooms and bathroom are all off the lounge area, so basically your lounge is a hallway with a sofa. That alone would be a no from me.

Noise will be an issue. Terrible design. My parents house has a central massive waste of space double height hallway/reception room. All the bedrooms upstairs/down, and lounge upstairs, go off it. Noise is horrendous. If you are In the guest room and someone is watching TV it's impossible. This house would be even worse.

StudyinBlue · 07/02/2026 11:26

I like the outside but seems very pokey inside. Hate the grey but that’s easily changed.

CollieModdle · 07/02/2026 12:55

It would do me!

It says decor etc can be chosen by buyer: I would ask for a good big shower instead of bath.

And I would add some great colours.

Would suit young professionals or empty nesters rather than a family.

It’s a practical use of a small plot.

NoraButty · 07/02/2026 13:01

I like the entrance. I really dislike the lounge. It doesn’t look like somewhere to relax, it’s more like a dentist waiting room. I’m not a fan of upstairs lounges either.

XVGN · 07/02/2026 14:41

Area360 RM add-in shows Noise Level (from road) is high so I wouldn't look any further. I just leave it to the brave, foolish or well-informed locals.

LizzybugMeeting · 07/02/2026 15:57

Brutal design. Hard and boxy

Growlybear83 · 07/02/2026 16:06

I love this house - I like ultra modern houses and Victorian/edwardian houses. What I hate with a passion are lovely older houses which have been butchered with the whole ground floor made into an open plan monstrosity. I’ve always tried to respect older hkuses we’ve lived in and renovated them sympathetically in keeping with their period.

StylishAndBeautiful · 07/02/2026 18:15

I don't love this one but I like ultra modern houses and Victorian/edwardian houses.

I dislike this too.
I don't like bifold doors, kitchen islands, fake Crittal, marble etc

cordeliavorkosigan · 07/02/2026 18:24

There are no closets and the total space is too small for double height entrances and non right angles. Noise will be a big problem.
It is not really a 3 bed, it's 2 plus a study.
I don't mind the modern look, it's the cramming all into a tiny space but with the high price tag that I object to!

Tigerbalmshark · 07/02/2026 18:25

The shed looks crap, the garden looks small, the rooms look small and strangely-shaped (and the AI furniture is clearly completely the wrong scale). And finally £470k for a two bedroom started home seems a lot for the area - this one is on with the same agents and is so much nicer, bigger garden, and 3/4 the price.

The two properties don't compare because they won't appeal to the same taste,

I’m not suggesting OP buys that one instead! Just demonstrating that the first house is way overpriced for the area.

I actually quite like the style, done well. That one is not done well.

Enko · 07/02/2026 19:34

I love the style

I would want to see more details for sizing etc

And this is not right on the main road with decent parking.
I can only assume the house will be aimed at a young professional couple maybe working in London\Birmingham as the railway station is only a short walk away.

@Tigerbalmshark I did wonder.

I like the style too but I don't think it works. The plot is too small and it has bachelor pad vibes.

I agree. It needs to be set in its own decently sized grounds, Not plonked right next to a very dull bland ordinary white house

blacksax · 07/02/2026 19:57

Fugly as hell. Absolutely horrid. Ugh. Whoever granted planning permission for that eyesore needs to be given the sack.

Whilst pps posted property is expensive ( although I don’t know the area tbh) this bungalow is just so so ugly and boring

I suppose it’s a matter of personal taste
Give me anything that doesnt look like a box any day

Have you seen the ugly boring developer estates !!

Love it or loathe it?
WonderingWanda · 08/02/2026 16:31

It will be very small inside. Those are cgi photo's and the listing says land between 40 and 42. If you look at the street view and satalite images it's being squeezed into a tiny little plot.

I can see one out of my front window. 😡

Lived here for 40 years and up till now have had a lovely view of trees, hedgerows and fields with horses & sheep. Not any more.😥

How sad
and to remove the trees aswell is an utter disgrace
Not only are they excellent for wellbeing they soak up carbon monoxide and dioxide. The loss of them and addition of more housing increases the toxins in our air.
Then of course trees help to prevent flooding.

Hedgerows as well as trees provide habitats and food for wildlife. It’s no wonder numbers have plummeted

When will this country ever learn !
