We’ve also changed agent and reduced price but no interest. It’s so frustrating but also nothing much new coming on to the market at all.

How long have you been on the market for?

Went on briefly in March with an agent that went bankrupt after 2 weeks and properly since the end of June.

Feel your pain! Been on six months, three price drops and about to change agents where it will go down in price again. New agent think we may get what we paid for the property five years ago 🤦🏼‍♀️

At this point I’d be happy to accept what we paid for the house. We’re going to just hang about until after Christmas and the. Change estate agents. The thought of redoing the photos makes me want to cry 😭

I've been on the market since the end of April!

Jollyjollyjollygoodie · 05/11/2025 09:24

We went on the market in April, sold in May, they pulled out in August. We’ve just accepted another offer. If we hadn’t sold when we did, we were going to use the online auction method. If anyone is struggling to sell and really needs to sell, have a look at online auctions. It works in a similar way to EBay.

BraOffPjsOn · 05/11/2025 20:33

We’ve been on the market since July - completely dead. A few viewings, dropped price a couple of times but no offers. Estates useless and say it’s worth what they quoted even though it’s lower now!

Taking it off after the budget and will see about putting it back on in the spring.

That's me a few days in my new home. The usual last minute wobbles from buyers and solicitors who seem to deliberately make things harder than they should saw me packed up, old house cleaned and empty of everything, and then having to go sit in a cafe and wait for the call to say it had actually gone through...so stressed!
Anyway, my new home is a new build and I cannot believe how warm it is! It's been frosty the last two mornings, but the heating barely comes on - only the downstairs heating zone as it warms upstairs...! It also gets so much more light than my old house, and overlooks a woodland full of birds. I've already had a Bullfinch on the garden fence.
Good luck everyone - it's been so worth it for me, and I've only been here a few days.

As someone who was searching for a house for over a year, I wouldn’t look at any that were on as modern auctions. They cost buyers a fortune to use. Is this what you mean or is there another one that doesn’t charge buyers?

AhBiscuits · 17/11/2025 09:02

We're still getting a fair few viewings but no offers. We've dropped price again.
It's so frustrating. I think our plan is to go to auction in the spring.

Congratulations! Your new home sound wonderful.

We have our first viewing since August today. I’m crossing everything, but feeling realistic that we’re unlikely to get an offer.

Trying to make myself feel better about the time spent doing a big deep clean because it would have needed to happen before Christmas decorations anyway.

LightCameraBitchSmile · 22/11/2025 14:04

Well I finally moved and it’s been nothing but a shitshow since completing - boiler packed up, there’s damp that wasn’t declared or noted by survey, a rendor issue which is letting in a leak and rats (!!!). I wish to god I’d never bought this house! Missing my old cosy one a lot

I’m so sorry.

Hope you can fix it up and make it cosy.

Im hopeful that I’m close to exchange, nothing concrete though. Hopefully this week.

AhBiscuits · 24/11/2025 20:28

Viewings have really ramped up since our latest price drop. Today we've had two offers. The first offer is 10k over asking price but they want us to throw in the paddock next door. To be honest, I'd be up for it, just get it all gone, but my brother does not want to sell the paddock. He has ideas about developing it in the future. The second offer is 20k under asking price. I think we're going to go for it but I'm really not confident that they know the scale of the project thay they are taking on. They are first time buyers. I quizzed the agent about what they had said to them about it and did not feel overly reassured. If this one falls through I'm going to auction the damn thing.

AmeliaHarbottle · 24/11/2025 21:24

I’m considering whether to put my house on the market on Jan or wait until spring. The market is so stagnant . I’m thinking of if I have sold by spring I’ll be in a position to put in offers .

Pred02 · 24/11/2025 22:02

We have been under offer since June. Put offers on 6 houses and outbid/gazump (most above asking price). Will lose our buyers if we don’t find onward by Christmas. Difficult to move into rental as we have little on in school, another on the way and I lost my job this summer. This does not affect
onward purchase as we seek mortgage against just my parents salary but does affect our savings burn rate as we are currently mortgage free. Looking at fixer uppers as well as house that backs onto railway (but otherwise great).

Vie8126 · 25/11/2025 13:29

We moved in the end! We actually pulled out and miraculously got a date for exchange for two days later with a promised completion the next week. The move itself was horrendously stressful and spent a good few weeks wanting to go back home but we are getting there slowly. New house whilst we knew was a slight project seems a lot more work than anticipated but isn’t it always!

Tootsiroll · 25/11/2025 16:35

We should complete tomorrow, deposit has been paid, solicitor said everything is in place, just have to wait.

As soon as I have the keys in my hand I'm going to pay for the flooring to be done and hopefully we can move in in about two weeks!!!

jay55 · 13/03/2026 08:30

Finally, finally today is the day. Should exchange and complete today, they ran out of time to exchange yesterday so aiming for both today.
Its taken forever but finally, finally happening.

Good for you. I am pleased for you.

How long from start to finish did it take out of interest?

One thing that seems very common on this thread is the amount of time it is taking from offer to completion. Its mental!!!

Hope everything runs smoothly for you today.

I'm still here, 10 months and counting, and still not at a point to even discuss dates.

jay55 · 13/03/2026 11:20

Put on the market I think Feb, offer in June or July after a reduction, complete today.
The hold up was the solar panels lease, and also the buyers lost their first buyers and I agreed to wait for them to find new. So 13 months from going on the market to completion which is insane.
In the solicitors portal the estimated completion was September.

That is almost as long as my fiasco. It's a nightmare process isn't it?

Glad you finally reached the end of it all and you can be free of the stress. It literally dominates your life. My DH and I have had to step back from it all to save our sanity. We have come to the conclusion that if we were meant to move we will, if not we stay put for a while longer.

Good Luck today. Hope you don't have to wait too long for news!
