@HavenSprings oh no... have they said anything?

I genuinely don't understand why solicitors think going radio silence is a good idea. My solicitor didn't reply to I think 3 emails since the 19th, and when she picked up the phone this morning, she was like oh yeh I saw your emails... I almost said, well a holding response would be nice... It would've literally taken less time than talking to me on the phone.

Limeandsober · 24/03/2025 16:36

Unbelievably after what happened as a week and weekend of HELL we have just exchanged.

solicitor said it was touch and go all day and thought he would be calling to say vendor has pulled out. Legally binding now, complete 31st.

miracles do happen everyone waiting.

I have thrown up twice today

Congratulations. That's great to hear and I empathise hugely.

HavenSprings · 24/03/2025 16:44

We have exchanged! 🎉

I am so relieved, but definitely @MelodyJ the lack of updates from the solicitors has been an utter nightmare. If ever I get the crazy idea of buying again, I will invest on the most communicative solicitor I can find out there. Sure, ours are taking us through the line eventually, but a simple email every now and then could help our mental health so much! I hope it will go better for you now and you'll promptly get a new timescale to work towards.

HavenSprings · 24/03/2025 16:44

Congrats @Limeandsober ! 🎉

MelodyJ · 24/03/2025 16:53

@HavenSprings @Limeandsober Oh yes!!!! Congrats!

Congratulations everyone who has exchanged❤️

Nothing yet :( I wonder what makes exchange so complicated, that it drags on the entire day even when it starts early in the morning? And there's nothing we can do, I assume...

When I sold my business we met at our solicitors for exchange and went out for a meal after to celebrate (sellers, the buyer and our lawyer). All very civilised.

It was literally a phone call and a bit of paper waving!

lemonwrighty · 24/03/2025 17:08

@Abra1t fingers crossed you don’t have to deal with this crap before exchange and completion

@MelodyJ I haven’t said what the issues are as it would be outting but the reductions they want are related to things that need to be looked at but are not required to be dealt with at this time so in my opinion shouldn’t even warrant a reduction but I’m trying to complete 31 March

@Limeandsober OH MY GOODNESS I’m so pleased for you!!!!!!

Feelingstrange2 · 24/03/2025 17:09

Congratulations @limeandsober and @havensprings

Fingers crossed DS tomorrow although the vendors solicitor has been dreadful all along so let's hope she answers the phone!

DS has had his holiday approved for next week (but then no slots available until after the easter school holidays!).

Abra1t · 24/03/2025 17:50

Congratulations @HavenSprings and @Limeandsober !

Only just catching up as I've been non stop all day but so happy to see this news, amazing 🥳

YASSS @Limeandsoberand @HavenSprings a double whammy to return to the thread ! Congratulations !!

spoke to my solicitor today about something fairly minor and asked her how it’s going . She says that it’s all turned a bit lord of the flies - EA blaming each other, really bonkers behaviours in the chain with people trying to pull a fast one re dropping accepted prices to basically say accept our lower price or we won’t exchange before deadline and all manner of batshittry.

Thinking of all still waiting to exchange or find out one way or another and crossing fingers for you !

we have the packers coming tomorrow and movers on the Wednesday. Feel a bit sick do we stay on the house while they pack do I go out ? (I wfh) and tomorrow is my last day before AL (wasn’t able to book off this week entirely as someone else was off) do packers pack everything or leave somethings ?

daft questions obviously but I have lost my mind somewhat.

Have been packing and sorting all day, has helped with the kids being at school. My parents came over and took a load of the kids stuff to store temporarily, you have never seen so many soft toys!!! Feels like I'm getting somewhere but I'm knackered, doesn't help I'm still not sleeping full night. Also sent part of the funds over today so suddenly very real!!!

Bec123451995 · 24/03/2025 18:53

We’ve been told that our buyers revised mortgage offer is with the underwriter for signing off. We’re really hoping after this we will get confirmation that Friday will go ahead for us otherwise we can’t complete until May due to everyone’s holiday commitments🤞🏼

Madamswearsalot · 24/03/2025 20:24

@hotandpermi my experience is that they literally pack everything (including the bra I’d accidentally left on the back of the sofa the night before 🫣) and one of us stayed at the old house with the packers, the other to the new house. If you’re doing it by yourself I’d say you can leave them to it but be on the end of the phone for questions.

Huge congratulations to those of you who have exchanged!! I’ve not been very active on the thread but I’ve been keeping fingers crossed for you.

I thought we’d be waiting another week before we got started in earnest but things came over from our solicitor today. Time to start mining for paperwork!

PuzzlingRecluse · 24/03/2025 21:07

Congrats to everyone who has exchanged 🎉

I’m in limbo waiting for the underwriters to approve my mortgage they had all they need since Friday morning, I’m going slightly mad

everything crossed for more good news on this thread.

Youabsoluteblinder · 24/03/2025 21:50

Congratulations to all those who have managed to exchange contracts. We were supposed to exchange today (again) but the buyer's are still waiting for mortgage lenders replies, which is worrying and frankly quite annoying when they had the audacity to send a sarky message last week threatening to pull out if we don't exchange and complete by month end because they're stamp duty costs will go up. So will ours, which is why we have been chasing them since mid December!

Limeandsober · 24/03/2025 22:46

I don’t know mentally how I got through the last two weeks of highs, lows, panic and in the last 24 hours gibbering insanity.

The places I have been mentally only people on these threads would understand!

it’s inhumane the waiting the hoping the get up and do it all again merry go round.

It really can happen so I’m crossing everything for all of you desperately waiting.

What I will say is that the anxiety doesn’t immediately lift once you do exchange. I expected more but I think it will take a couple of days.

I’m half expecting to wake up and have to check my emails again thinking it was a dream.

And I’m now starving but too tired to be bothered to go downstairs and find something.

We ride again at dawn ❤️

gottagetthruthis25 · 25/03/2025 03:24

@Limeandsober@HavenSprings Aww! Fantastic news! Really happy for you guys. What a relief! 😀
We're set to complete on the 31st. And need to exchange this week so I'll be calling from tomorrow to see what's happening.
@hotandpermi I've now managed to get two friends to help me on the weekend. Although we are completing on Monday the removal guy wants to get loaded up on the Sunday and I'm okay with this.
It's mad my final Monday in this home and it doesn't feel real. I'm so excited though for a fresh start for both me and the kids!

Also looking forward to a proper night's sleep again... 😪

notgettinganyyounger · 25/03/2025 06:33

Congrats 👏 on the exchanges!

Honestly talk about taking things to the wire!

All crossed for anyone else still waiting to beat the date

2025willbemytime · 25/03/2025 07:42

I feel I've wasted several months of my life because I trusted people I shouldn't have. First vendors strung me along and then lied and then lied again after I pulled out to get me to still buy their house. Five months wasted. Found new house very quickly in the hope of keeping my third set of buyers. We all knew it would be four months before we could complete. It's now been over five, will be at least another three weeks but there is a very real chance the chain will fall apart before then. I'm stuck in the marital home having divorced my h last summer and add in the fact I'm trying to move a couple of hundred miles away, I'm quite stressed.
