I've just noticed that, in picture 3, the brown sofa is sitting on those riser things that your Nana has under her chair to make it higher.
I'm not keen on the interior decoration. It feels very student-y for a £1.4m house.

‘On the market for the first time in 60 years’.

‘On the market for the first time in 60 years’.

Which make the ice cream cone even more interesting ... !

Mumsgirls · 28/02/2025 10:04

That garden photo is bad

Onelifeonly · 28/02/2025 10:07

I couldn't see the ice cream at all initially on my phone and thought it was due to the myriad of colourful clutter! I love the way kitchen fittings don't get a look in - so not important....

housethatbuiltme · 28/02/2025 10:09

I saw the ice cream first then I saw the price... wow its an awful house for an INSANE amount.

Not picking on the owners belongs because essentially that doesn't matter but its exactly the type of house I hate and as a northerner the price is eye watering for something so basic and ugly.

Heronwatcher · 28/02/2025 10:16

God people on here lack imagination! Why is it that whenever people post something like this others have to denigrate the house- it’s obviously been a lovely home for an interesting person, judging by the decor. And yes we are all aware that you can buy a massive mansion in hull for that price but then you’ve got to pay upkeep, the area is completely different and you’re a 3 hour helicopter journey away from work if your job is in the city! It’s like we’re back in the world of Hyacinth Bucket where anything over a mil has to have a tennis court and room for a pony…

I loved the ice cream and LOVE the house. So full of light and the roof terraces are absolutely fantastic. I bet they have fantastic views. Looks like you could make it warm and comfortable and easy to keep. I’ve moved out now but that area of London is really beautiful. Plus you’re about 20 min away from the city (if you work there), and the west end, plus two amazing parks and more fantastic restaurants than you could ever want to visit. That’s what you’re paying for…

willproblem · 28/02/2025 10:16

I'm amazed at the clutter.

My house is up for sale, & I already de-cluttered for the pics.
Then the photographer told us to remove more, so we were clutching things like towels, magazines etc until she'd finished each room.

Viviennemary · 28/02/2025 10:19

Over a million pounds. Faints. And that dreadful scruffy back yard. It's dreadful. Not worth a fifth of that.

User12435687 · 28/02/2025 10:21

I like the inside
Don't mind the clutter
Love the ice cream
Hate the price
Don't know where Belsize Park is but happy not to be trying to buy there

Onelifeonly · 28/02/2025 10:22

Horrible house, great area though.

Near Hampstead / Hampstead Heath. Highly desirable part of London.

I've just looked it up on a map, it looks quite far out to me? But I have fairly limited knowledge of London Grin

Gekko21 · 28/02/2025 10:27

I live in London and know the location so am less surprised by it than others here.

Took me a while to spot the ice cream amongst the clutter. It's a bit like those 'hidden object' games you find on your phone's app store.

It's Sold STC and my guess is that it will get a major facelift. Interesting that others in the street have all taken slightly different approaches to varying effect. This is being sold on potential value. With an additional floor (seems like there's precedent so planning permission probably a foregone conclusion) it could be a sizeable house bringing closer to £2m I reckon.

senua · 28/02/2025 10:41

Mumsgirls · 28/02/2025 10:04

That garden photo is bad

Erm, it's the 'roof terrace'. There is no garden as far as I can see.
Fancy paying £1.4m and having no garden!

BunnyLake · 28/02/2025 10:44

I know Belsize Park is nice but I am ‘shook’ over that house price. You couldn’t get a more bog standard ordinary house (looks like someone’s bought it though).

MrsSkylerWhite · 28/02/2025 10:45

London prices are batshit.

Ursulla · 28/02/2025 00:39

All that money and not even a shower curtain.

This is the most mumsnet comment of the day! Made me giggle...

AgnesX · 28/02/2025 10:52

I wonder if it's up for sale because someone's mobility has gone completely pear shaped.

Besides the point I know.

SugarPlumpFairyCakes · 28/02/2025 10:53

I wonder which sucker bought that for that money?

NormasArse · 28/02/2025 10:56

Could someone tell me where the ice cream is in photo 2? I can see it in 4.

Ive already spent far too much time looking, and I’m starting to think it’s a trick 😂.

Audiprettier · 28/02/2025 11:07

HaddyAbrams · 28/02/2025 00:31

I'm so confused. I can't see an ice cream. Why would it be interesting enough that it needs a post? Of course it's lighthearted, it's a crap property porn thread.

And before anyone says my post isn't lighthearted, it is. I'm just confused.

I couldn't see an ice cream either! The photos have to be seen in vertical order to see the full picture, & not just swiping to the left!
Phew! Was nearly off to specsavers (& it SOLD!)...I know - Location Location Location! 🤷🏼‍♀️

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 28/02/2025 11:17

It sold because "NOTE: Subject to planning permission, there is potential to increase the size of the house by adding a second floor, which many of the neighbouring houses have done." So they paid the money for the location only. That little thing will get knocked down and a £3m pad will pop up.

Crikeyalmighty · 28/02/2025 11:21

My son lives in that area in his flat share- lovely area!! I actually think this looks really homely , lived in in a good way and nice - what's with that ice cream though!!

outdooryone · 28/02/2025 11:48

Ursulla · 28/02/2025 00:39

All that money and not even a shower curtain.

It has no sale history - looks like it was bought many decades ago, and it would not have been the £1.4m back then....So perhaps a pretty ordinary income and person who lucked out on buying or inheriting there and has sat pretty all this time.

They won’t knock it down! It’s attached to 2 other houses (look on street view)! Plus 1960s homes are really desirable especially in this sort of quirky location (they look gorgeous with mid century furnishings etc). You’d just build an extra storey on the roof (some neighbours have already done it). Would not be easy but it will probably add another 700k to the price and the “sucker” who buys it will be able to afford 2 mansions in Yorkshire 😀
