Check out this house in Chelsea! I thought, from looking at the pictures, that an eccentric millionaire with mixed family heritage who has travelled all over the world might have lived there for years - but no, it seems to have been interior-designed this way.

Not for me.

LindorDoubleChoc · 06/02/2025 13:56

I don't think it's for me, either. Great house though.

What's with the leopard print carpet?

Proof that money can't buy you taste.

AgathaX · 06/02/2025 14:24

It's a little bit on the busy side for my taste, but I'd rather live in that than in a bland interior, expecially grey.

Gloriainextremis · 06/02/2025 15:03

The Zoopla link asked me to verify I'm a human no less than five times, so I gave up in disgust.

MrsApplepants · 06/02/2025 15:06

I think it’s beautiful. A house like that needs remarkable decor.

It's less remarkable than 'Russian Oligarch Who Likes Pattern', though, I'd have said. Mind you, those tartan sofas are remarkable -- they look like supersized, clearly-expensive versions of the kind of thing you'd inherit from an octogenarian family member until you could afford to buy your own sofa.

Not a big fan of the use of tartan, but I like the rest of it, especially the leopard carpet. If I won the lottery I'd kit my house out with everything from Wendy Morrison though: https://wendymorrisondesign.com

Love the wallpaper - but there are other bits that I'd have to tone down - the pink walk in wardrobe...no good with a hangover.

quoque · 06/02/2025 15:22

I am a maximalist at heart, and actually love the wall coverings, but the furniture all looks so new and oddly cheap, especially when it's so matchy matchy, like with the purple velvet armchairs, of which they seem to have purchased a job lot. I hate all the pairs of rock hard looking cheaply covered armchairs. I do like the tartan sofas a lot, though - gorgeous. They must feel lovely to sit on - that tartan is v. nice to the touch.

There are really weird features that must have been expensive though like the black bookcase is very badly designed and makes the room needlessly awkward looking, and the black table and chairs are terrible (and terrible in that space!). The bathrooms look v awkward too, but I think the whole home has been chopped up awkwardly.

What an amazing house though, and yes @LindorDoubleChoc thank God for someone bucking the grey on grey trend!

I love how the page says "See how much you could borrow" - hmmm, zoopla, probably not today...

Oh man. That kitchen's such a letdown after all that opulence. I was expecting it to look like Barbie/Barbara Cartland cross vomfest.

Flounce it up, ffs!

username299 · 06/02/2025 15:28

Great location but awful interior.

Wemaybebetterstrangers · 06/02/2025 15:29

It’s definitely a bargain.. price dropped by £6million since 2021.. wallets out ladies!

BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation · 06/02/2025 15:31

Is anyone else gobsmacked at the price?

MH0084 · 06/02/2025 15:32

I actually love it!
But I'm sure I would start sneezing the second I walked in!
So, it will have to pass! Grin

Have you seen where it is?

steppemum · 06/02/2025 15:37

well individually I love some of the pattern/wallpapers/furniture.
But I find the way there are clashing patterns and colours together too much

LittleGreenDuck · 06/02/2025 15:37

Street View takes you inside. Odd!

Yes I thought the same

Trainr · 06/02/2025 15:39

I don’t really see much grey anymore. It’s all navy kitchens (so many navy kitchens!!), green colour-drenched sitting rooms, pale pink dining rooms!

Mylittlebobble · 06/02/2025 15:40

I need to live there for a little before I make my judgement 😆

MrsSkylerWhite · 06/02/2025 15:42

Does Paddington live there 😁

rhubarb007 · 06/02/2025 15:51

My eyes.. can't unsee this now!

NetballHoop · 06/02/2025 15:51

With mortgage repayments of £89,179 a month, I'd have to sack the nanny and the chauffeur to afford it.
