Check out this house in Chelsea! I thought, from looking at the pictures, that an eccentric millionaire with mixed family heritage who has travelled all over the world might have lived there for years - but no, it seems to have been interior-designed this way.

It's a little bit on the busy side for my taste, but I'd rather live in that than in a bland interior, expecially grey.

Agree - I mean it's not 100% to my taste, but it's loads nicer than acres of grey and crushed velvet.

I love it ! It’s someone’s home- they’re happy we should be happy too.

Well, I don't think it is 'someone's home' in the ordinary sense of the term. As a pp said, it will be an investment property which may never have had anyone living in it, or not beyond the occasional night, whose owners will have multiple other properties, and will have just told the kind of interior designer such people use to 'kit it out in a high-end way'. Hence the look of opulent transitoriness.

The kitchen and one of the bedrooms are nice. Apart from that I woukd never feel at ease in a house decorated like that.

Likewise. The kitchen and that bedroom are both a positive oasis of calm after all the rest of it.

That huge bookshelf in one of the rooms would drive me crackers. So beautifully curated, but with no actual normal books at all.
