Don’t you think you could be very happy here?

It must have been such a lovely place when Kew was still a country outpost ( area used to be full of market gardens to supply London to the east ) . Shame it’s been hemmed in by a random mix of developments over the years. The Kew landing flight path would be a problem as well, though had lunch outside at a friend’s house opposite the Botanic Gardens and she said she stopped noticing it years ago.

HellsBells67 · 21/12/2024 00:33

Absolutely adore it!

I’ve got a flat in Kew, nowhere near that expensive, but this house is the wrong side of the railway to really be Kew. Far nicer, and cheaper, houses in the right part of Kew, albeit with fewer bedrooms, IMO!

Genuinely you don't notice the flights a bit. I think your brain quickly just tunes them out.

Ooh, I really like this house for £6,995,000 directly on the river at Twickenhan:

That’s one glorious.

ConstanceM · 21/12/2024 10:35

It will be freezing,
You need at least 10 people living there to make it worthwhile,
It's probably grade 2 which means you cannot change anything without written permission,
It's freezing,
The worry of a leaking roof, and anything else degrading on the property, isn't worth the sleepless nights,
Imagine the heating bill,
Imagine the maintenance of each room,
Too many negatives even if the 3 people's you know well visited often.

RealHousewivesOfTaunton · 21/12/2024 11:24

It's nice but needs a lot of work for modern living. More bathrooms for a start! And the close-crowded trees make it seem very gloomy at the front and back.

mitogoshigg · 21/12/2024 11:30

Apart from the fact I don't have the money it needs full renovation, not even one en suite??? At our age it's needed Grin. On the upside dsd could have the other building rather than her expensive rent, though as we all live 150 miles away on 1/15 of the budget ...

Crikeyalmighty · 21/12/2024 20:23

At less than half the price I fancy either of these renovated ones and a nice quick 10 minute drive for me to move -

Ooh @Crikeyalmighty now you're talking, I love both of those. Although IRL I can only just about manage my present bungalow, so I don't know why I'm looking at period properties.

Fifiesta · 22/12/2024 13:26

It’s gorgeous but totally impractical.
I would need a cleaning crew on standby, even a fleet of robo vac/mops wouldn’t make a dent in the extra work.
So glad I don’t have the envy gene…

Talkinpeace · 22/12/2024 13:46

@Crikeyalmighty those are both wonderful and Widcombe is a good place to live

Gem359 · 22/12/2024 13:54

I'd much prefer an estate in the country if i wanted somewhere that was going to cost me a bomb plus another bomb to maintain. It looks like this is just plonked on some residential street. I'd want no one for miles around me if i was spending that much.

SoupDragon · 22/12/2024 14:04

I love it. Too near my XH though.

That 2024 £10m one is absolutely hideous.

Way overpriced. 😂😂🤣

Crikeyalmighty · 22/12/2024 14:43

@Talkinpeace they are rather fabulous and if I get my lottery win- I'm having that Widcombe one- 5 minutes move down Widcombe hill for me too -

TheRainItRaineth · 23/12/2024 21:12

We're all different! I could not live in the countryside under any circumstances. Though I'd probably go for central London if I had £7.5m to spend.

ApolloandDaphne · 24/12/2024 09:57

10 bedrooms and only 2 bathrooms. I would be needing more bathrooms I think.

Tblock1800 · 24/12/2024 13:11

Kew is a gorgeous part of London. Anyone saying on here saying they hate London clearly haven't been to the nicer parts and yes, there are some nice areas in London and Kew being one of them

SuperGinger · 26/12/2024 01:52

Love the Kew one, the others are all a bit meh. You adapt to the cold very quickly, I live in a cold house and feel everywhere else is oppressively hot these days

propertyporn1 · 27/12/2024 11:25

Love most of the houses posted here - love high ceilings, big windows and grand fireplaces - if I could do life again I would have trained as an interior designer - those houses would be a dream to work in.

This is near me and I've posted it before - although big feels quite homely and doesn't look like it needs much if any work. 30 mins into London too even though looks like it's in the middle of nowhere. Just need to find that spare £7.5m now!
