The KitchenAid is very close to the sink and the bedside tables are very far away from the bed.

Hopefully it will be like Jimmy Savilles Rolls Royce and he’ll get a bat( on the price for mucking around with boys.

DisabledDemon · 11/10/2024 19:43

I like the exterior of the house although all those grey window frames are awful. Otherwise, it's soulless.

Gettingbysomehow · 11/10/2024 19:47

It's horrible. How can anyone live in that. There is absolutely zero joy in that home.

CellophaneFlower · 11/10/2024 19:09

I'm not a fan of the way the drawers look, but they're definitely more practical than cupboards. A lot of people opt for pan drawers now.

Yes I have some pan drawers myself; but their kitchen just looks like one big stack of drawers.

There are some really distasteful comments in this thread, particularly about imagining him in the rooms pleasuring himself. What is wrong with some of the people on this site?!

it’s an awful invasion of the privacy of his family, too. I hope MnHQ see sense and remove this thread, or at least some of the worst comments.

I agree with you there. People seem to forget the innocents in this scenario. A family who have been ripped apart. A poor wife and children who thought they had a stable life. And now the family home is up for sale, being picked apart by the dribbling vultures on here. Put yourself in his families shoes and have some respect for the people he has damaged. I also think this post needs removing.

whiskeyarmadillo · 11/10/2024 20:23

It looks to me like no one has lived there for a while. Hopefully his wife and kids have a lovely new, safe home far away from him.

Dymaxion · 11/10/2024 20:25

I like the paintings in picture 7. As others have said, I hope it sells and his wife and children can move on with their lives.

LemongrassLollipop · 11/10/2024 20:29

How do you know it's HW's house?

How do you know it's HW's house?

The media have reported quite widely that it's his house.

Julietta05 · 11/10/2024 20:51

How do you know it is Huw's house?

How do you know it’s his house? Or is it well known? Genuine question.

Also, for 4m of bricks and mortar, and without wishing to sound snobby etc, the bedding doesn’t really look like bedding that would be used in a house of that pricing level. Usually, there’s at least 10 pillows and bed cushions and opulent bedding etc for show, which get chucked in the floor at bedtime. The beds look small for the size rooms too. Something isn’t quite right somehow, the furnishings and the price tag.

Efrogwraig · 11/10/2024 22:44

A cold house.

You can see it too.

friendlycat · 11/10/2024 23:10

Whilst I fully admit I looked at the house before this thread, because if you know the location it’s easy to find on rightmove following the articles in tabloids, I also acknowledge it’s not kind or nice for his family.

It’s a fabulous road in Dulwich that is definitely going to command a premium. Yes the interiors especially the bedrooms are fairly awful for the scope of the property. But who knows what the actual situation is.

Perhaps his wife has understandably moved out and it’s in a basic state and she’s wanting it sold without all the personal effects of her family home. After all she’s a successful person in her own right and may possibly be renting an alternative until it’s sold. It therefore may be just basically showing room sizes with basic beds, spare linen, curtains etc. Or it may be their taste etc.

Even though I’ve been a voyeur in looking, I must admit to guilt in judgement as it’s not just his home it’s hers and whatever age their five children are they will have viewed this as their family home. Their are completely innocent people involved in his actions in all of this appalling circumstances.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 11/10/2024 23:46

It’s been painted white throughout for the sale. I think the furniture has just been bought cheaply or hired , as many people on MN and elsewhere claim that it isn’t possible to imagine a room’s purpose or functional without furniture.

I expect that they have deliberately erased as much of the previous look of the interior, to guard what little privacy remains to the family. Judging from the comments so far, it was a sound decision.

Boring house in a boring area.
That cost of housing is a disgrace.

SoupDragon · 12/10/2024 09:23

Is it bland? Yes. It isn't "ghastly" or any of the other things said about it. It's a blank canvas you can move right into. On "my house won't sell" threads posters are always quick to advise removing anything personal and painting it neutrally.

I think the furniture has just been bought cheaply or hired

That can't be true as there are personal photos and items in lots of places. There's even a photo I'm sure is of HE and the Queen, even though it's blurred out.

Mt61 · 13/10/2024 01:37

His poor wife is probably in tears reading all the put downs on here, she probably thought she was putting her heart & soul into the place- she probably didn’t know he was out perving when she chose the duvet set

daisychain01 · 19/10/2024 04:15

His poor wife is probably in tears reading all the put downs on here

I doubt she gives a shit about people critiquing the house, unfortunately she has far greater things going on in her life to be in tears about,

threeunrelatedwords · 19/10/2024 09:42

How likely is it that someone would be able to knock the horror house down, and build something new?

It’s not in a conservation area, is it?

threeunrelatedwords · 19/10/2024 09:48

…. It’s in the Dulwich conservation area. So there would be difficulty getting approval to knock it down. Perhaps not insurmountable though, if someone had deep enough pockets.

user1471538283 · 20/10/2024 12:01

With all his money I'm just surprised at the cheap bed linen! It does look a bit studenty.

I hope it sells for that price so his wife can move on.

Igavebirthtoabanana · 20/10/2024 13:54

I never understand Mumsnet. I like the kitchen. We re-modelled our kitchen five years ago and it’s very similar to that kitchen. We have mostly drawers, one upright pantry and two lower cupboards. Not a single upper cupboard. Drawers are just so much more practical.

I also like the grey windows. I think they look great against the brickwork. What colour should they be? White pvc would look really cheap I think.

CellophaneFlower · 20/10/2024 14:47

Agreed. I do think the long bar handles are too much with so many drawers, but a lot of people are opting for drawers over cupboards now.

Even the teeny tiniest mention of grey on here is greeted with horror 🙄 Everything is a blank canvas so easy enough to add some colour. It's not old enough to have had any amazing original features ripped out, such as cornicing, fireplaces etc.

Crikeyalmighty · 20/10/2024 14:54

Well unlike others on here I think it's a very nice house indeed, because I can ignore bedding etc!! And I like the kitchen too - yes it's bland but that's easier to make nice than somewhere very ornate with masses of wallpaper you don't like etc
