What's the longest anyone has waited for tenants to go? We're buying.

Vender has just reissued the section 21. Court next. Been going on since Feb. When we viewed tenants showed us round pointing out every little fault. Should have guessed then.
We're not desperate as still have our home. Plus other stuff going on. But curious to know if anyone has had similar? TIA

Thanks. Trying to explain to DH that it's better we tell them now and give them plenty of time. And I said that about decorating to DH. I just want us to make it as easy as possible for them without us rolling over and being stupid.

The longer notice period is better then, just let them know verbally that a section 21 will be served. And letting them leave early without penalty. That's all you need to do to be decent, hopefully they have resources to move out fairly quickly.

Thanks. We are going to let them know in October. That gives them 6 months. Hopefully that will be enough time for them to find a new home.

Never buy a house that has a tenant and if you’re going to sell a rented property to anyone other than the tenant in situ then market it when they’ve left. It’ll cause all sorts of hassle…..
It happened to me when I was buying a property in 2006 - the property was rented (and had been to the same tenant for 15 years) - I had requested that the property be vacated upon completion as I wanted to renovate (as the property was in poor condition - hadn’t been touched since the 70s) and the tenant was paying way under value…

Long story short, the tenant refused to leave until two section 21s were issued and it wasn’t until late December 2006 that I’d got the keys - having offered in the February of that year!!! People ask why I waited so long for the property but it’s in a desirable area! I paid £65k for it back then, it’s now worth nearly £200k just 17 years later!!

And who can blame them, I'd be pretty upset and belligerent if I was forced to move out of my home.

That is owned by someone else, who obviously might ask you to move out of it eventually.,

Our second rented home was being sold we showed people round.

They’ll be out. Eventually

@BlackShuck3 This is why so many LLs are getting out. It’s a problem when money you need is in a house that’s got tenants on it. My advice is don’t rent out and don’t buy with tenants in situ.
