Stairs.

Outdoor space.

Spare room.

Carpets anywhere.

A cheese room and a moat.

I always said my forever home would need these two features. It does not.

I've always desperately wanted a ha-ha.

My house currently doesn't have a functional kitchen. No worksurfaces at all (we chop and prep food on a large chopping board balanced across the sink, or on the cooker hob (only two of whose rings work) and a cement floor with a giant trench, two-feet deep, down the middle that needs to be crossed on a plank).

We also had no TV for years, until a client of DH's sent us an enormous one out of the blue.

An airing cupboard. Would love one for storing towels and bedding. My nans house had a huge double one, the hot water tank in there used to dry clothes beautifully and everything was warm and aired. Combi boilers mean that they’re becoming rarer.

We don't have:

A working fireplace
Cooker extractor (although it looks like we do, but the unit is blank - thanks previous owners)
More than one TV
A hallway

cooker hood/extractor fan

Same, plus no shower, and no second loo.

MadameMassiveSalad · 08/07/2024 17:52

Why?

GetThatBloodyFaceOff · 08/07/2024 17:52

A hallway - just a square at the bottom of the stairs (enough room to hang a few coats)
More than 1 toilet
More than 1 TV (I've never liked to watch tv in bed)

DinaofCloud9 · 08/07/2024 17:53

A tumble dryer. Or drier? Hmm not sure which is correct ha.

MrsCarson · 08/07/2024 17:59

A doorbell.

smellsfishy · 08/07/2024 18:03

Blinds/ curtains / any window covering in the sitting room. A long running dispute between DH and I. 10 years and counting... 😒

TwigTheWonderKid · 08/07/2024 18:05

Kitchen drawers. Not even for cutlery. Seriously who does that?

SuperGinger · 08/07/2024 18:09

We have several working fireplaces, but no showers.

wastingtimeonhere · 08/07/2024 18:09

First floor..its a bungalow..😂

Geiyotue · 08/07/2024 18:11

Cooker extractor (I don't like them so didn't put one in)
Fireplace or fire (we have underfloor heating)
En suite (no space)

SwordToFlamethrower · 08/07/2024 18:13

Fireplace
Loft

GoodnightDoom · 08/07/2024 18:19

No electricity, no municipal water, no dishwasher, no heating system (gas or electric), no glass in windows 😂

But we have an airfryer that runs on solar, so I like to think of us as the mod-cons family in our neighbourhood 😉

Rural African living (not actually living in 1800s Britain!)

AnnaMagnani · 08/07/2024 18:22

No mains gas
No foundations - house predates the idea of them

ruethewhirl · 08/07/2024 18:25

No airing cupboard. It's a complete pain for storage.

Summertimer · 08/07/2024 18:26

An upstairs bathroom

Yuope · 08/07/2024 18:26

Dishwasher, we don’t have room for one.

RampantIvy · 08/07/2024 18:27

JC03745 · 08/07/2024 13:58

Storage heaters

I don't think those are very common these days TBH.

Cocothecoconut · 08/07/2024 18:27

Mains gas
alexa
dushwasher

This is very bizarre! Is it a very old house and the cutlery has its own cabinet in a room of its own?!

*I mean like, old Manor house, not an old 2 up 2 down...

Where do you keep your cutlery? We keep some of ours in drawers of our sideboard

Edited

Sadly not. 'tis an IKEA kitchen designed by a fuckwit.
