A working fireplace

OP posts:
DramaAlpaca · 08/07/2024 15:06

A thermostat. God knows why not.

A garage. We have a Man Shed though, DH's pride and joy.

minipie · 08/07/2024 15:06

off street parking (apparently a necessity on MN)
alexa
ring doorbell
clothes line

HundredMilesAnHour · 08/07/2024 15:06

notmoredirtywashing · 08/07/2024 14:36

Dishwasher. Nowhere to put it but I seem to be the only in my circle without.

Same. I prefer to wash dishes by hand anyway.

I don't have a tumble drier either.

Seems I'm less keen on white goods than most people. 😜

SlightlyJaded · 08/07/2024 15:07

Spare bedroom (I get that's a luxury but oh how i would love one when DH is snoring).

Off street parking.

I don't think I know anyone with an actual working fireplace! Not sure it's a common thing!

Us-more than 1 loo. Seems everyone in our area does 😂

Loads of Victorian houses still have them
We have 7 working ones left in our house it originally had 11 - we only use 1 of them though.

TheChosenTwo · 08/07/2024 14:26

We have and love and use our open fire so much! Everyone in dhs family has one too, they are the loveliest thing to sit in front of on a cold wet winters day! And even a cold wet summers day 😭 (we haven’t actually had one in the summer but I’m not ruling it out!)

I wouldn't buy a house without a working fireplace!

We are missing a TV.

SatinHeart · 08/07/2024 15:11

Clearinguptheclutter · 08/07/2024 15:04

Same. We did but got it deliberately cut off.

We're out in the sticks - there is no mains gas to the village at all.

wonkylegs · 08/07/2024 15:14

We don't have an ensuite but do have 2 small upstairs bathrooms so there is (hardly ever) a fight for them in the morning.

Ringdoorbellrules · 08/07/2024 15:14

Tv. If I didn’t have a DH i wouldn’t have a tv.
Wood burning stove.
En suite.
An offers for my unused dining room?

MyBirthdayMonth · 08/07/2024 15:18

A separate dining room, cloakroom, conservatory, utility room, dedicated spare bedroom.......basically there is a whole wing missing 😭😁

Bbq1 · 08/07/2024 15:19

Kitchen bin - they smell and get dirty plus take up room in our small kitchen so I take rubbish straight out to the bin.

Dishwasher - again, no room

Ring doorbell - we just answer the door! I wouldn't mind one too much but dh doesn't like them and I do agree that they aren't neccesary.

Storage heaters

They aren’t common are they?

elastamum · 08/07/2024 15:20

Mains water. We pump ours straight out of the ground. It tastes lovely.

OnionBudgie · 08/07/2024 15:21

A microwave. Never had one, no interest or need in having one.
A dishwasher.

BitOutOfPractice · 08/07/2024 15:23

Stairs. A garden. A back door.

I live in a flat!

JC03745 · 08/07/2024 15:23

Myblindsaredown · 08/07/2024 15:20

They aren’t common are they?

Our previous flat, central London, was extremely hot and we never used the storage heaters. We had an air con unit! We did put in super efficient heaters from Norway IF someone wanted heat. When we had the EPC done, they said that if we'd kept the storage heaters, we would have had a higher rating. Even the guy said EPC makes no sense at all.

FoleyHuck · 08/07/2024 15:23

@PickAChew Hello! Yes, but we now finally have a provisional date we're working towards to get back, which is end of September.

On the upside we'll have a brand new completely refurbished flat, on the downside it's still a tiny one bedroom (tinier now due to updated fire regs requiring thicker insulation) and we now have a newborn to share it with!

Maddy70 · 08/07/2024 15:24

A usable light in the lounge

PenguinCounter · 08/07/2024 15:34

A garage. We're in a detached 4 bed house, not a terrace so I think it's unusual not to have a garage.

Cesarina · 08/07/2024 15:35

A kitchen island
An outdoor kitchen/seating area.
Decking
Patio heater
Ring doorbell
Dishwasher
En-suite
More than 1 TV
Sky/BT or ANY subscriptions

We are absolutely SO deprived!!!

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 08/07/2024 15:36

Fireplace. Love my house but i do miss my fire from my last house, so cosy.

MrsStottlemeyer · 08/07/2024 15:38

A bath, a shed.

If we're including appliances an air fryer.

Aug12 · 08/07/2024 15:39

A back door, we have one front door only, so have to go out and walk round to get to the garden.

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 08/07/2024 15:42

No connection to sewage system, no mains gas supply, no stairs, no microwave.

RockahulaRocks · 08/07/2024 15:49

A hallway, which is my main bugbear. More than one bathroom. Off street parking. A spare bedroom. We do have Sky though so if DD ever runs for office, she’ll have to bemoan the lack of house space growing up, instead of a satellite tv subscription.
