What paint colour would go with this wallpaper?

Fell in love with this wallpaper and just had to have it above the panelling in my living room.

However, the white primer that's currently on the panelling, obviously doesn't go and an embarrassing amount has been spent on sample pots! We just cannot make up our mind on paint colour. What do you think, please? I'm currently back on a muted, moss green but I've been here before and changed my mind again! He thinks a dusky rose colour to go with the cherry blossom on the wallpaper but I'm not 100% sold on that....

I would share a picture of the entire room but it's a tip right now. Just know that it's not a huge room and it has a small window, so dark paints are a no go. (I know, I know, probably shouldn't have chosen a dark wallpaper but I just love it 🥰 )

FYI: The Panelling is all the way around the room.

Ps, Please ignore the bike in the hallway, it’s temporary and thankfully the flooring is next on the list.

Thanks

Oh. I would pick out one of the pink shades from the wallpaper for the paneling rather than a green? Or perhaps a warm grey with pink tones.

I'm guessing by the "Oh" that you're not keen?? 😬

No I like it! I think I've used Oh where others might use hmm.

I don't think any of the pink shades pictured are quite right though.

sciencemama · 04/07/2024 21:43

Pink or grey

Jemimapuddleduk · 04/07/2024 21:45

Gosh what stunning paper! Defo pink as otherwise it merges too much. Otherwise a taupe type grey (warm brown grey)

bracemyselfagain · 04/07/2024 21:45

I'd ditch the green paint altogether - far too much!

Love the paper design though 🙂

Iudncuewbccgrcb · 04/07/2024 21:46

Try something close to this grey

Fabulous wallpaper, op. I think a pink would work best, or how about a sort of 1950s minty green, like in the river in the wallpaper. Get rid of the carpet too!!!

Gorgeous wallpaper!

How bold do you want to be? If it were me I would use the paper on the inside bits of the panels as well, then 'frame' them in a matte bronze colour

Devilsmommy · 04/07/2024 22:00

I'd definitely go with a pink because grey is just too blah and there's an awful lot of green on there already. Sorry, your DH is right on this one

Hwx · 04/07/2024 22:03

Id go with pink. It's hard to see the exact shades in the paper but Dulux copper blush or f&b sulking room pink might be good to try. They're both a bit more muted/brown toned pinks. Lighter pinks could work, bit more of a statement though!

BestestBrownies · 04/07/2024 22:04

Or if you really want to make a statement with the room, use lime green as the 'framing' colour. Sounds mad, but trust me it will look amazing and really make the wallpaper pop

Endsofbells · 04/07/2024 22:05

Agree with the sulking room pink.

Lovely wallpaper

redbric · 04/07/2024 22:08

I’d pull out a deep pinky purple. It’s gorgeous.

spottydinosaur · 04/07/2024 22:12

I'd go dark picking up a colour in done of the tree barks.

This paper looks really similar to one we were looking at recently - excellent choice

CarrieMoonbeams · 04/07/2024 22:13

Beautiful paper OP.

If you'd rather go for a white-ish colour, have you looked at F&B's James White? It has a kind of sage green tinge to it, we have it in our living room and really like it.

EveryOtherNameTaken · 04/07/2024 22:15

The shade of pink in the wallpaper. Bring it to life.

Ooooooh yes good idea thank you! Paper was only £14.95 a roll and good quality

Sorry for late reply, DC wouldn't sleep.

Definitely not green! I think a bold orange, go contrasting!

StirlingMallory · 04/07/2024 22:38

Darker pink. Almost purple. Plum.

EnglishBluebell · 04/07/2024 22:41

Thanks everyone!

I think it's a 'dupe' of this expensive (but bloody gorgeous!) one - cole-and-son.com/products/forest

I want that wallpaper now!

But then I'd be stuck with the same paint dilemma as you...

That would look fantastic but it would be too dark, sadly 😔 The room is too small and the one and only window is only 137x137cm! Suffice to say that even with white walls, we need the lamps on even first thing in the morning

I love the bold ideas but I'm not a very bold sort of gal - neither of us are! So I'll explore dusky pinks like most of you suggested. Maybe even see if there's such a thing as a light gold without looking like terracotta!
