Cornwall/Devon - where do you recommend?

DH and I are looking to relocate with our 2 DD9 to Cornwall or Devon. Can anyone who lives/holidays in either of the areas recommend nice places to live please?

Ideally, we want to be local to a village and a school but happy to be a bit out in the sticks for the right area. We'd also love a house with land.

Budget of approx £800K maximum but if we could get somewhere for half of that, we would absolutely love to be mortgage free.

To be honest your question is quite wide. What are you looking for? Other than being local to a village and a school? Because that would apply to a lot of Cornwall and Devon, as is being out in the sticks. Your budget gives you plenty of options.
Are you hoping to find work? Do you want access to public transport (trains ? Buses?) or happy to drive everywhere? Do you want to be near the coast or moors? Etc
