I wasn't sure if this is the right place, but I was a huge fan of the series.

Just posting if anyone else was interested

Yes I would take issue with the west facing windows, and the little patch of wilderness in the grounds

SnapdragonToadflax · 02/05/2024 10:22

That view through the house to the garden is heaven 😍I'll take it!

David Bamber, what a brave actor, creepy Mr Collins, lovely pragmatic Charlotte.

Loved David Bamber! His cringing to Lady Catherine de Bourgh was priceless. He will always be THE Mr Collins (accept no substitutes).

Remind me how much your chimneypieces cost, Lady C? Or come over and accept refreshments purely to see if my joints are too big for my family.😀

For heaven's sake, one Rosings chimneypiece alone cost £800 - how could you forget this, Burnfort? 😂 The 'very small park' at Longbourn definitely upset Lady Catherine, but she did acknowledge there was 'a prettyish kind of wilderness' too.

And let's not forget that poor Lady Catherine had given Mr Collins advice on 'improvements' to the parsonage house......putting some shelves in the upstairs cupboards. She was an interior designer as well - was there no end to this woman's talents?

Daffsarealwaysyellow · 02/05/2024 10:49

Ooh, it has a circular landing with useful linen cupboards.

Does it come with Mrs Hill?

WinkyTinky · 02/05/2024 10:49

Wafts hanky in excitement 😃

I wouldn’t buy it, it has a very small park and some of the windows face due west.

😂

Zwicky · 02/05/2024 10:51

It was for sale a while ago - maybe 12-18 months. I wonder if it fell through, I wouldn’t be surprised as it’s got a very inconvenient sitting room for the evenings.
The dining room blows my mind because I can imagine all the cameras and crew piled into that nook in what I thought was a perfectly rectangular room. It’s an absolutely lovely house. I would have thought it would be a lot more ££.

DriftingDora · 02/05/2024 10:54

Zwicky

I would have thought it would be a lot more ££.

Me too. With everything that's included I would have expected it to be much more.

Love that. But man that's pricy.

I disagree! I think it demonstrates the infuriating truth that the more money you have, the cheaper things are.

I mean, look at it! A 4 bed new-ish build in nearby Chippenham is 900K.

DrJonesIpresume · 02/05/2024 10:57

Sold. <bangs gavel>

Now, where did I put that winning lottery ticket? It's here somewhere, I'm sure of it...

This has made me want to watch P&P again. Is it on streaming anywhere?

The film is on Netflix. The TV series is currently on BBC iplayer

Noshowlomo · 02/05/2024 10:58

I’d give ANYTHING to live there. My husband just said if he won £143 mil on the lotto tomorrow he’d buy it for me. Fingers crossed !!

GreenBag53 · 02/05/2024 10:58

£5 million and there's only 13 pics?!?!

Noshowlomo · 02/05/2024 10:59

@Zwicky hahaha
god I need to watch it again asap

Uricon2 · 02/05/2024 10:59

I think it is a LOT of house for the money, especially with all the cottages and outbuildings. Wish Rightmove had more photos.

TeabySea · 02/05/2024 10:59

BruceAndNosh · 02/05/2024 08:57

I agree Lady Catherine. It is nothing like Rosings

I could buy this!

As long as 4,999,550 other people gave me £1 each.

AdaColeman · 02/05/2024 11:15

It's quite nice, but I'd rather have Pemberley.

BoilingHotand50something · 02/05/2024 11:16

Am having a shit day but this thread is making me chuckle. Thanks OP.

I was thinking the same. It’s only about 6 times what a hideous, over extended semi would be where I live ( suburban tedium).
Mind you, the upkeep… the staff needed… the gardeners alone!

ClipClopperDontStopper · 02/05/2024 11:17

I'd happily take modest old Purvis Lodge even with its dreadful attics.

Luckily you can very rarely sit in those rooms in the afternoon.

Because there’s blooming loads of rooms.

minipie · 02/05/2024 11:20

Sorry, should say “after dinner”

I’m imagining a phantom Hill wafting out of the useful linen cupboards and saying she’ll only return to a family without (a) a gabby husband-hunting matriarch forever on about her Poor Nerves and (b) slutty militia-chasing daughters to cause said nerves to act up.
