To put a hot tub in my front garden

I'm purchasing a home in a very expensive city, so it only has a front garden.

I fully plan to put a hot tub in the front. Current owner is using it as a front garden.

There is a fence around it, but it's not particularly tall.

Knowing the way people are in this country, I am almost certain someone will have an issue with it, what can I do to make it less of an imposition on my neighbours?

I am alone so it'll just be me in there, so there shouldn't be any noise issues.

I’d put a taller fence in so most people can’t look over to see you.

Sounds expensive and I fear that doing so would detract from the house's mock-tudor beauty.

I think there are limitations to how tall a fence can be in a front garden versus a back garden, so check up on that.

A lot of people’s objections as far as noise is also to do with the running of the hot tub, they tend to be quite noisy all by themselves.

This is hilarious.

If you want random strangers staring at you in your swimwear, crack on.

PolarPandaBear · 01/04/2024 14:51

April fools day?

OP, if you are worried about curb appeal then I wouldn't be putting a hot tub in my front garden.

However, IF this is genuine and not designed to get Mumsnetter's frothing, then I'd look to plant some evergreen hedge such as Portuguese laurel. Very attractive, dense and dark green foliage, grows at a decent rate. You can buy it in decent heights in bulk to get an instant screen effect.

Worried86 · 01/04/2024 14:53

Whenever I’m out the front gardening, cleaning the windows or washing the car, people always say hello as they walk past.

That’s nice in those circumstances, but I wouldn’t want to be chatting to the man from down the road while I was in a hot tub wearing my cossie!

Is your road very private or will people be walking past?

Floopani · 01/04/2024 14:54

Mock Tudor beauty made me snort. Put a hot tub in your front garden if you want. It's not the usual thing to do, but it's your front garden.

Elephantswillnever · 01/04/2024 14:57

If you are seriour I'd certainly put up some screening. Probably a curve to block neighbours/ street and you can gaze upon your house in all it's mock tudor glory.

MeMyCatsAndMyBooks · 01/04/2024 14:59

Long as you're not planning to go in it nude, you'll be fine.

EatCrow · 01/04/2024 15:01

You can grow runner beans to detract from your bikini OP.

m00ngirl · 01/04/2024 15:02

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👏

InTheColdColdNight · 01/04/2024 15:03

Create a fake murder scene at the other end of your garden. People will be too distracted to look at you in your cossie. That's what any normal person would do.

Billoddiesbeard · 01/04/2024 15:04

April fool 🤫😂😂😂

Youdontknowmedoyou · 01/04/2024 15:04

Are you mocking a certain large "famous" family here?

Spirallingdownwards · 01/04/2024 15:05

I am hoping whoever is doing all these piste at around 2.40 to 2.50 is in another time zone if they are trying April Fools as cut off is 12 noon

PossumintheHouse · 01/04/2024 15:05

Why stop there? One Tiki bar and a hammock later, and you've got the full set-up.

UpsideLeft · 01/04/2024 15:05

Drunk passers may will jump in it, piss in it throw rubbish in it etc etc

Anyone who would be 'frothing' because of this has too much peace in their life and deserve to have it disturbed.

Hot tubs normally have very heavy duty covers on them when not being used to keep the heat in.

Elswhere · 01/04/2024 15:07

Clearly an April Fool

Kinda funny though

Imagine ’Mock Tudor beauty’ with a hot tub out front 😂😂😂
