There’s something about this house?

Something seems familiar…but not. It’s in one of the most desired areas of N London and it looks like a student house. The virtual tour is spectacular if only for the guitar collection and the handrail from The Barbican Centre.

It’s a heck of a lot fancier than any student house I’ve ever lived in!

Yodel294 · 31/03/2024 22:14

I don't get what you mean? Is it your house? It's just an ordinary home, isn't it?
It's a nice location backing onto Ally Pally Park but the N22 postcode isn't nearly as desirable as N10 up the road.

LuluBlakey1 · 31/03/2024 22:27

I think it's horrible- it looks like a rabbit warren of tiny rooms that are cluttered, not very clean and used as some kind of lodging/rentals. It's quite grubby throughout, dated and run-down. Would take another 500,000 at least to sort out. That conservatory is awful.

Never mind all the guitars.......have you seen how many vacuum cleaners are on top of the washer😲

😂No it’s not my house, I just feel like I’ve seen it on tv maybe. I think it’s probably not very nice to live in, despite backing onto Ally Pally. Several of the houses in that road have had remedial works for subsidence in recent years. It could be a lovely home though.

A vacuum cleaner for each resident perhaps?

Is that a giant meat grinder???

90yomakeuproom · 31/03/2024 22:37

Why wouldn't the photographer move the takeaway wrappers?!

That’s something that I wondered & also made me feel like I’d seen it before. It’s certainly out of the ordinary.

Why wouldn’t you move your clothes/underwear that’s hanging up to dry before having the pictures taken? Weird house.

I was wondering this too!
And the massive meat slicer in the kitchen! Maybe Italian students🤔😅

SiobhanSharpe · 31/03/2024 22:49

It will probably look a lot bigger when (if) it's been seriously decluttered. Obviously a HMO.

There are also a lot of personal items in clear view 👀

DaughterOfEvening · 31/03/2024 22:56

If it was a HMO I cannot understand why there would be a lot of collections/art/instruments in the communal areas.
SO much stuff though.

Is it because it reminds you of certain eras? There are bits that reminded me of the mismatched furniture of cheap houseshares in the mid 2000s. Then other bits that remind me of our neighbours house in Wimbledon when I was a kid in the 80s. They were artists. Then some of the furniture is quite 90s. It's almost like the different rooms take you on a trip through time. All very odd. Thinking about it further some if it even reminds me of old album pictures

Stickyricepudding · 31/03/2024 23:08

There are too many smaller rooms downstairs without a specific purpose apart from storing junk. A proper corridor/hallway needs to be added to connect the rooms & get rid of the smaller & useless ones.

The downstairs cloakroom has a glass door so I don't think anybody would use the toilet. One of the downstairs bedrooms doesn't have a window so no natural light. The whole downstairs space needs to be reconfigured & decluttered.

R41nb0wR0se · 31/03/2024 23:12

It's 1.7 million quid, and has IKEA curtains?!

penjil · 01/04/2024 01:49

Why are there so many photos of the garden and so few of the house?!

The curtains in photo 8 are migraine inducing!

I'm not sure what to make of the conservatory, it seems to be a migrant housing centre.

Would like to see photos of the bedrooms, bathrooms and other bits.

The kitchen looked good, the only room that did. The lounge looked..... artistic.

PerspicaciaTick · 01/04/2024 02:00

Why is there no bannister on the stairs?

Upupandaway10 · 01/04/2024 02:18

Yeah why do little of the inside of the house? What on earth is going on in picture 14?

SnapdragonToadflax · 01/04/2024 04:54

I rather like it, it could be an amazing home with some money spent on it and the garden space is fantastic. It's obviously a shared house, maybe for musicians given all the guitars. That's why no-one one's tidied it to sell (they don't want to leave) and it apparently has IKEA curtains (the horror!).

EcstaticMarmalade · 01/04/2024 05:00

It reminds me a bit of houses in programmes like Butterflies or the Good Life.

LoudSnoringDog · 01/04/2024 05:43

What’s with the writing in black marker on the kitchen wall???

it looks scruffy. £1.7m for that??

london prices are insane

TerfTalking · 01/04/2024 05:55

I also noticed all the hand held Dysons, but it was the bacon slicer in the kitchen that did it for me. I’ve often fancied being able to slice my gammon thin, but that monstrosity belongs on the cooked meat counter at Morrison’s.
