Contemporary Oak Dinning Table - extendable

Can anyone find me one. I would like something quite low profile rather than ‘chunky’ and must be a light/cool oak as opposed to the orange/warmer shades of old.

Needs to be rectangular and seat 8 when fully extended.

I LOVED this ⬇️ but the reviews are awful 😣 https://www.johnlewis.com/ebbe-gehl-for-john-lewis-mira-6-10-seater-extending-dining-table/p5308428

Would go close to 2k for the right thing but would obvs rather not 😅😅….at all!

There is another one in John Lewis with better reviews (not solid oak).

Habitat (Argos) have a nice one - the Etta range - bit pricey but looks good and good reviews.

You could look at Oak Furniture Land tables. We got one from there which we were very pleased with, but possibly chunkier than you’re looking for. Seems good quality so far (got it just before Xmas). Ours is at its smallest in the pic, and extends further, but there is a smaller size which extends to 8.

Is that the Canterbury, @maudelovesharold? We have the smaller one.

We got ours from Clearcycle on eBay at a fraction of the full price though.

Have you looked at The Cotswold Company? That’s where I got mine, great customer service.

User364837 · 20/03/2024 20:34

Link doesn’t seem to work but it’s the Metz table

hgaj · 20/03/2024 20:39

Ercol are worth looking at for that type of design
The ercol Romana is just over your budget though sometimes available in their outlet. However it's solid oak whereas most tables under £2k will be veneer.
Could also look secondhand eg at ercol grand windsor

The Ercol Shalstone?

Edit: apologies, left the wrong link!

Saw a lovely one in Heals the other day. Have a look on their website.

Following as we have spent the last couple of months looking for exactly the same thing and haven’t quite found the one yet.

No, we’ve got the Sherwood - v similar look, though! Our table extends at either end. Does yours extend from the middle?

NoWordForFluffy · 20/03/2024 22:42

Yes, @maudelovesharold, from the middle. It's bloody clever how it does it!

We love ours. We had an ancient drop leaf before we got this last year.

Pipeskeepleaking · 20/03/2024 22:43

Ercol grand Windsor (second hand) wd fit yr budget and you will be able to sell it on for the same price you bought it for.

Yes - I saw your first post OP and this is exactly the road we were going down a few years ago. We bought the Ercol Romana in a light oak. It’s so beautiful and extends so easily. We got it slightly reduced from Barker and Stonehouse.

How funny @NoWordForFluffy so did we! Inherited it from my Godmother, but it had had its day, and same as you, we’re really happy with our new table!
