Bin the fake grass, surrounded by so much open space makes it look worse than it usually does in built up areas.

Paint over those wooden ceilings. They’re seriously awful imho. Just covering them with my hand improves each photo immensely.

SomersetTart · 01/03/2024 16:36

The views and living room are fantastic. With colour and the right furniture this could look stunning. I agree with the posters who said it's not meant to be pretty, it's meant to be what it is - modern, light, open. I associate pretty with thatched cottages.

For some reason that tiny sofa looking into the corner of the bedroom gives me the complete willies.

Prairie planting or a gravel garden would look really in keeping with the house and be much better than that bleak plastic grass.

I never realised so many people were anti-balcony. I think the balcony is great.

For me the fake grass would have to go. I love how light the house is though.

I’m anti-glass balcony. They are abominations, though I know the intention is not to obscure the view when sitting down. Surely there’s another way? There’s something depressingly utilitarian and fishbowlish about them.

Me too PP!

SpringOfContentment · 01/03/2024 16:42

I'd put a window in the gym/storage area to balance out the front - and probably convert it into a bedroom.
Get rid of the pine ceilings.

Where is the front door? I can't work out how a visitor would get in.

bluesclues9 · 01/03/2024 16:42

Oooh. I hate it! I don't think there's much you can do. It's just ugly. Sorry op.

GiantFootTinyHead · 01/03/2024 16:44

Pic 21, the front really is bad. It looks like a warehouse, the back doesn’t look too bad in comparison, apart from the small garden and plastic grass.
Pic 4 just makes it look like a holiday let tbh, & I wouldn’t be thrilled with the prospect of having to wear sunglasses to eat my breakfast.

Apart from the area op, what do you like about the house?

DontLeanOnTheKeyboard · 01/03/2024 16:49

So vile. Apart from the view. Whether that stays. It’s quite near me and building is happening everywhere.

INeedToClingToSomething · 01/03/2024 17:09

The house itself is lovely. I'd get rid of the horrible UPVC door. The design looks naff.

The main issue though is that horrible raised area and fugly shed with fake grass. I'd get all that replaced and remove the raised area which is too close to the house so looks cramped. It's making a nice chalet style house look naff.

The tarmac also needs to go.

Inside the orange wood everywhere needs either refinishing or painting.

The pp that said remove the balcony is crazy. That's one of the highlights and is a great way to appreciate those amazing views!!! I'd looooove a balcony!!!

It’s like the person standing in the corner in The Blair Witch Project.

SecondClassmyass · 01/03/2024 17:25

It looks like a mini rugby club- complete with the standing deck

WithManyTot · 01/03/2024 17:53

Going against the majority, I love it, Maybe a bit of a small plot, but that means less outside to look after.
The view on Streetview is a little bland, but that because it is really the back of the house, and you spend 99% of you time inside looking out, not on the road looking in...

Inside is fantastic it's 99% perfect, for what it wants to be. It's an upside down house which is always novel, and I've always liked these. Clearly, if you like this style of architecture, and I do, this is a real gem. If you want an "Executive" new build, or a thatched cottage it's not for you, but I wouldn't buy it to try and make it into either of these.

Buy it and embrace it for what it is, I would. If you can't love it, buy something else. There is little enough architecture that challenges these days, and for that reason I love it.

tolerable · 01/03/2024 18:07

paint it-cream or wotev is called ..

Ohnoooooooo · 01/03/2024 18:09

It kind of has an industrial look on the outside, a dated look on the inside but all pulled together with modern energy efficient themes?
I think you have to decide with the real estate agent who your target audience would be and then work towards that.
General rule of marketing - don't be a jack of all trades and master of none - you need to focus on one target market.
I think you might need better photos - the wood looks like cheap pine and its quite intense but I bet its lovely in real life.

TraitorRoundTable · 01/03/2024 18:09

Looks like a 70s built catholic school

PurBal · 01/03/2024 18:11

I really like it. My only issue would be the fake grass.

FookingGenius · 01/03/2024 18:12

There's a huge mismatch between the inside/back of the house and the front. I don't find the inside as offensive as others, I don't like the astro - but that photo of the front of the house is awful. The front wall needs a lick of white paint, it looks like the front of the house and the tarmac need a good pressure wash, and there needs to be about 150 pot plants on the driveway/stairs and around the front door.

SometimesIchangemyname · 01/03/2024 18:14

I like it. Needs lots and lots of greenery to soften it up though. Pots and climbers.

Sorenson · 01/03/2024 18:18

Love it, just needs some plants, looks like it has fake grass?

Spreadthehappiness · 01/03/2024 18:25

It’s not ugly at all! I’m not a fan of the wood ( feels a bit 90’s) but it’s a stunning house.

Changeeusername · 01/03/2024 18:29

Gorgeous and has lots of potential. Get rid of the horrible plastic grass immediately though. Criminal.

Aydel · 01/03/2024 18:34

Apart from the astroturf I love it. It’s never going to be a pretty house, so don’t try. Someone will love it though.

Meadowfinch · 01/03/2024 18:48

I'd get rid of the plastic grass for starters. I'd have to soften the garden and that bleak garden fence, with some lush planting.

And I'd probably try to use plants to soften the balcony.

Inside I'd want to paint the wooden ceilings, I'm not keen on 1970s orange pine.

But it's light and efficient and with the right update could be stunning.

PansyOatZebra · 01/03/2024 18:48

I don’t think it’s too bad. Only thing that jumps out at me is the why have they chosen such an orange wood! I’d have to replace the ceilings with proper plaster.

TubeScreamer · 01/03/2024 18:51

I think the inside looks lovely. The massive negative is the fake grass. Someone buying that house will do so because of the wonderful views over countryside. Such a person won’t want plastic grass.
