A real Time Machine! Love it. And so spacious. Very stylish for the era

It will all get ripped out.

i imagine the parquet floor would still be there if there was one originally. I bet the doors are the original panelled ones under a plain hardboard sheet - my parents did that to their doors in the 70s?

Is that a floor that's kind of tiled ?
Some of the older Edwardian (I think ) houses have those and a lot have their front pathway using it.

I think it would look stunning in that beautiful huge entrance hall

TheBirdintheCave · 28/02/2024 10:28

@Trinity65 Parquet is a wood block floor set in patterns (usually square or herringbone) and was very popular in the 1930s when this house appears to date from.

@Janehasamane If you know art deco houses well you can spot the original features beyond the decoration :)

MrsSkylerWhite · 28/02/2024 10:29

Just needs updating. Good value for Bristol.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 28/02/2024 10:32

I love it, and I must say the pristine state of it is a MASSIVE tribute to the owners.

fairymary87 · 28/02/2024 10:34

Anyone here for this! It looks like
Something from a film

Thank You

I was thinking, when I thought about it more lol, more of the tiles .
This though, all polished up, would also look lovely in that hallway

mrsbyers · 28/02/2024 10:39

It’s beautiful , I can imagine the owner wafting around in a kaftan and feather mules

Ginmonkeyagain · 28/02/2024 10:39

I LOVE it, especially the kitchen. I am now coveting an English Rose kitchen if we ever get round to replacing our servicable but very dull kitchen.

Atethehalloweenchocs · 28/02/2024 10:55

I love the green bathroom and the fireplace surround, and actually dont mind the hall carpet - bet it is good quality and looked after! Not with the wallpaper, sure, but I dont mind it. But the house does look at bit like time travel between different rooms.

Exhausteddog · 28/02/2024 10:59

I love the kitchen!
I have recently been involved with selling an elderly relatives house that also hadn't been updated recently. It was nowhere near as pristine as this, but I'm glad it was sold privately and not on rm for fear of it ending up as a thread subject!

artyfartybarty · 28/02/2024 11:03

Why does picture 8 look like the house has a face and its grimacing 😂

Iwant2beJessicaFletcher · 28/02/2024 11:08

I absolutely love that! What an amazing house. If it was nearer Id be seriously talking to DP about which DC we could sell to afford to buy it (lighthearted of course!!)

Moier · 28/02/2024 11:12

I can't understand these posts.. what if the owner of that home is on here? Or knows who owns it? Friend / relative ?.then someone is being negative about it?.

Sdpbody · 28/02/2024 11:15

I would love to know how much it was bought for!

caringcarer · 28/02/2024 11:16

4 very good sized bedrooms, a good sized kitchen and a separate utility room. My Mum had carpet like that when I was a DC and kept it until I was in my late 30's. It's actually a very expensive carpet. Only downside it never wears out. I know Mum kept her because she said she couldn't justify throwing away perfectly good carpet just because it had gone out of fashion. Once done over it will make a lovely family home. Kitchen would have to go immediately though.

luxuria84 · 28/02/2024 11:20

It's fabulous! 😍

luxuria84 · 28/02/2024 11:21

No doubt someone will rip its guts out snd turn it into a bland grey box..

housethatbuiltme · 28/02/2024 11:24

Curious about the heating though... I see two radiators randomly but it looks like it has 'skirting board heaters'.

I only learned about them the other day and assumed they where modern.

WotNoUserName · 28/02/2024 11:36

It's gorgeous! I wouldn't want to change a thing.

Pretty much everyone os being positive.

I think it looks slightly surprised 😂

bombastix · 28/02/2024 12:23

Nice house, good proportions and suitable fittings (classy). It would look awful if completely modernized with some grey and white Wickes stuff

On this thread maybe but not on others.

It's a lovely house, but I suspect that a keen DIY amateur has spent a long time lovingly tinkering with the ceiling lights - were they originally car headlights?

lol
