honestly not sure what the problem is. looks like any house that was last decorated in the 70s. Nothing a lick of paint couldn't fix

There is no problem. It's more the fact that it is absolutely immaculate despite clearly not having been decorated for decades.

dontcallmelen · 28/02/2024 09:22

Those kitchen units look like original nineteen fifties ones, quite sought after I think. Really like the bathroom Yy looks like a well cared & well loved family home with some lovely features.

BringItOnxxx · 28/02/2024 09:26

Love those carpets 😍

RicePuddingWithCinnamon · 28/02/2024 09:26

It’s beautiful. I would live there and not change much.
I often say on these threads that maybe the house is being sold due to a bereavement or an older relative going into a care home and I often the comments are that the house is horrible etc and I wonder how I would feel if my grandma passed away and I saw her house on mumsnet.

allmycats · 28/02/2024 09:26

It’s a well loved and well maintained house.
Why are some people so mad mannered on here when things are not to their taste.

solongandthanksforallthedish · 28/02/2024 09:28

Oh my, that is beautiful. What fantastic bedroom carpet. I want that kitchen- what should I Google to buy a kitchen like that?!

Me too. It’s a beautiful house.

Ineedanewsofa · 28/02/2024 09:30

That kitchen is fab! So is the bathroom! I also wouldn’t touch the fireplace in the living room and am coveting the massive utility 😍

TammyOne · 28/02/2024 09:32

It’s a beautiful house. It’s basically my dream house in that it’s a 1920s(I think) villa with tons of space, light and original features. I hope whoever buys it doesn’t turn it into a grey and white box.
The kitchen is an English Rose kitchen from the 1950s and very collectible.

It is lovely and so well cared for. I hope whoever buys it doesn't rip everything out.

Chewbecca · 28/02/2024 09:35

The bones of the house and the garden are gorgeous.

The interior is just like a big version of my MIL's house - she has lived in hers since 1960.

TempleOfBloom · 28/02/2024 09:38

I would buy it now, just for the kitchen.

TokyoSushi · 28/02/2024 09:39

Oh what a glorious house!

You could either make it amazingly vintage/kitsch or you could rip it all out and create something fantastic in a fabulous building!

Sarahconnor1 · 28/02/2024 09:41

I really like it, sure it could do with updating but it's been very well looked after and I love the layout.

TheBirdintheCave · 28/02/2024 09:48

Oh my goodness it's got the original deco fire surround and the original bathroom complete with tiling! Swoon. Such potential to restore that beautiful house to it's original 1930s glory. I hope whoever buys it does so because they appreciate the history of the property and don't just rip it all out 😩

I wonder if the original parquet is still underneath the carpet? 🤔

Manyandyoucanwalkover · 28/02/2024 09:55

It’s basically a lovely house with a great garden. I would have to spend a lot of money on it though. New kitchen, new bathroom, remove all carpets, fireplace and decorate. Job done.

GoldDuster · 28/02/2024 09:56

That bathroom is iconic, I bloody love it. The whole house is like a glamorous time capsule, I can almost hear the Fawlty Towers on in the background. I would love it.

Hope it doesn't get Hinched.

Yeah I was sharing it as I thought there were lots of rare features that others would appreciate. Not as a problematic house.

It's a lovely house apart from the decor which is firmly stuck in the 1970s.

Absolutely

geminiflanagan · 28/02/2024 10:00

Man I love this house! And actually I do really love the first bedroom carpet, I'm not sure I could do a whole room in it but if we were buying then I would be crossing my fingers that it was in decent condition enough to get a piece cut and turned into a rug!

Edited

It will all get ripped out.

i imagine the parquet floor would still be there if there was one originally. I bet the doors are the original panelled ones under a plain hardboard sheet - my parents did that to their doors in the 70s?

TheBirdintheCave · 28/02/2024 10:06

@SoupDragon You're probably right sadly. Sigh. Why can't people who want to live in a modern white/grey box just buy a modern white/grey box? It's not like there aren't plenty of them about 😥

willWillSmithsmith · 28/02/2024 10:09

I love that house! It’s not hard to see how amazing it could be. I would even take inspiration from it’s dated decor rather than eliminate it altogether.

Janehasamane · 28/02/2024 09:06

Just looks like a fairly standard 60/70s decor. I’m not seeing what others are seeing, the hall is great, but nothing amazing.

I think the hall is what I would have really fallen for if viewing the house, it’s lovely.
