Stupidly expensive wallpaper - help finding a dupe?

After searching for ages for 'the right' wallpaper, I've fallen in love with this one. However, it's going to cost an eyewatering amount to paper the required space. Anyone want to help me find a decent dupe that doesn't cost £110 😮a roll? I'm in the final stages of a year-long complete renovation, so I'm just about losing my mind with endless internet searching for handles/hinges/tiles/paint/front doors!

Plumage Jade Wallpaper

A beautiful animal and bird themed wallpaper with hints of Chinoiserie and oriental style, with a subtle pastel vintage quality to it.

It's colour and the pattern I love, btw - so looking for something similarly vibrant green with a chinoiserie-type pattern

Have you calculated how much you need? A lot of wallpapers are much wider width than of old, or come in panels... so the cost doesn't always reflect its value. Work out the square metres and then price it.

Yes, that’s what prompted my post! It’s a lot - more than I think I can justify

If it's 3-4 just get them. Nothing else will feel good. It's going to last a long time after all. If it's like 15-20 maybe rethink the whole scheme

Seaside3 · 14/02/2024 19:48

I have woodchip and magnolia paper. It's expensive, but it's truly beautiful. The quality is amazing. Get it, or you will regret getting a copy.

Think you'll tire of the design eventually? Like after five years? Ten??
It's a fashionable paper for a long term investment...iyswim?

Could you do just one wall? And the rest in that green? Or is there a fabric for curtains or blinds?

Or just save for it. Small price to pay for something that will brighten up your day every day. I get such joy out of my interiors that it's money well spent. Plus I only decorate every 10-15 years.

A little bit cheaper and a little bit wider?

Moveoverdarlin · 14/02/2024 20:24

I’d take the hit and get the one you love. If it’s expensive it will be good quality. Cheaper wallpapers are tricky to hang.

FirstFallopians · 14/02/2024 20:26

Just get the one you love!

I’m a dreadful one for buying the cheaper version of something I really covet, and you know what? It’s never right.

Thanks all - maybe I just needed the permission to spunk the £££ on it. There’s nothing else I like as much and I think anything else will just feel like the disappointing compromise it is.

I’m not a fan of ‘feature walls’ so it’s either all or nothing. I know it’ll look amazing and fits brilliantly with the rest of the ‘scheme’ for the rest of the house.

I think get the real deal. You can't 'cheat' as such as expensive wallpaper looks totally different from cheaper stuff I'm afraid....

I dunno, the reviews for it aren't very good! Especially for the price!

Glares at the fucking huge owls on the hall wallpaper that bloody annoy me every time I walk past them (wallpaper was in when we bought the house and it is NOT to my taste)

tutttutt · 15/02/2024 14:58

You didn't look at the actual reviews did you. The one person who bought it loves it. The other reviewer gave one star but that was due to the size of the rolls. They didn't buy it as they didn't need a whole roll. Not a valid review is it

Seaside3 · 15/02/2024 21:17

@QuestionableMouse My review is, woodchip and magnolia is😘🤌.
And I have some in my dining room. The paper is the nicest quality I've seen. It went up in no time, no shrinkage, no faffing, just beautiful paper.

Yeah just buy it. There's a lot of art that goes into those kind of wallpapers and the cheap copies just don't measure up. I have a fully wallpapered box room for my office in a wild print and it gets a lot of admiration on my zoom calls! So much more interesting than the beige interiors on the other end of the calls.

shielder · 16/02/2024 07:59

I agree that you should buy it. If you get a copy you’ll likely still pine for the original.

Looks great @QuestionableMouse
