Absolutely beautiful (would update some of the interior) but it’s lovely !!

Uglyboots · 01/01/2024 23:24

For that kind of money, I’d buy something else…

I mean, it’s nice enough if it’s your dream to live in a windmill, but it’s a bit of a folly/novelty.

WillYouPutYourCoatOn · 01/01/2024 23:24

Some nice bits. Some odd and quite tacky bits. Far better available for the money.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 01/01/2024 23:25

Great view of a busy major road!

I knew someone who, lived in a similar’ conversion ’. It isn’t easy keeping exposed ancient machinery clean.

LadyLolaRuben · 01/01/2024 23:26

It's lovely. A few rooms look a little dated but easily fixed. There seems to be an A road nearby, so I'd just check the traffic noise etc is acceptable.

Delassalle · 01/01/2024 23:26

All very nice but I wouldn't want my privacy invaded by people stoping for a gawk and even wanting to take photos.

freeandfierce · 01/01/2024 23:27

I've been in that property, years ago when I Iived in Hove! My friend knew the owner and he had to drop some artwork off so I got to go inside. Can't remember too much other than the owner moaning about the stairs!

parietal · 01/01/2024 23:28

Very close to a major road and might be noisy.

Bedrooms in the tower are interconnected so are much less useful than a house with an ordinary floor plan.

Outdoor pool is v expensive to maintain.

But it could be great if that is what you like.

Scarletttulips · 01/01/2024 23:30

Too many floors!!

Couldn’t get a vacuum round it and the cogs make for a lot of dusting.

Comfortablechair · 01/01/2024 23:31

Very Jonathan creek ! Not for me. I’ll take a new build in Milton Keynes 😂

DappledThings · 01/01/2024 23:31

It's amazing but I think I'd probably prefer it for a week's holiday than to live in.

NotAClueZ · 01/01/2024 23:33

nice to look at not to live in.

too many stairs - not a joke if you have any kind of minor injury (skiing, twisted ankle) or are aging.

too many gawkers

would worry about the windmill bit and what you have to do to maintain the machinery. I doubt there is an AA call out service equivalent for a windmill and any windmill issues would be ££££

its v. expensive and you could get something better for that .

OoohLaLaLa · 01/01/2024 23:37

It’s beautiful(apart from the diving pool???) but I could buy something spectacular for that money in my region.

HollyFern1110 · 01/01/2024 23:37

I love it but not to live in. For that kind of money I'd want more bedrooms & more storage options.

It would make an amazing holiday let though.

ActDottie · 01/01/2024 23:41

Nice and quirky but wouldn’t want to live in. The bedroom layout isn’t very practical.

festivetinseling · 01/01/2024 23:43

Loving the name of the road it's on. I wonder where they got that idea?

PickAChew · 01/01/2024 23:50

Imagining those stairs in the dead of the night when needing a wee 😬

PinkflowersWhiteBerries · 01/01/2024 23:51

I find it creepy. I am getting a very unsettling feel about it. I think it’s the idea of sleeping under the machinery . I am not a woo person but it’s a strong no

Doublerainbow23 · 01/01/2024 23:53

It's lovely, quirky character etc. But my goodness the stairs. Absolutely wouldn't want to live there!!

NotAClueZ · 01/01/2024 23:55

I didn't see that at first, but Now you've mentioned it @PinkflowersWhiteBerries it's an episode of Midsummer Murders waiting to happen isn't it.

- Barnaby speaking.
-Inspector, can you get down the old windmill in Midsummer Milltown quick? Petunia Lapthorn has been found dead, her body is all mangled in the machinery.

😂😂That’s it !

KievLoverTwo · 02/01/2024 00:37

I have always dreamed of living in a windmill, lighthouse or oast house, so this is my dream home. I wouldn't be creeped out at sleeping under machinery, I think it's lovely that it is still there.

Nearlyspring23 · 02/01/2024 00:58

The cogs would be a nightmare to dust. I imagine that there would be a lot of spiders and webs dangling above your head each night.

LauderSyme · 02/01/2024 01:23

It's rather stunning and the garden is lovely, but it looks very high maintenance.

My main whoah is it's only Council Tax band F! (The highest is H). Which means the market value of the property was between £120,001 and £160,000 on 01/04/1991. That seems surprisingly low to me. Council tax bands are waaaay overdue a revaluation.

BasiliskStare · 02/01/2024 01:47

It is very pretty but spiral staircases would be a no from me.
